《Abyssmal Downpour》Chapter 2:Brawl beginning

"What in hell...is this thing!!Am I hallucinating?"
Karl, who was barely able to keep his footing even with the support of a crystal, when saw the shocking crystallized creature staggered briefly. The creature used this opening to subdue him immediately. The hopes of rescue went down the drain.
This unreasonably hostile assault happened within an interval of two seconds. Being pressed to the ground further worsened his already widening wounds. The considerably heavy weight of the creature, made him groan from pain. This was very much real.
The creature..., as Karl described , was a crystallized lifeform made of a monkey head, claws of a scorpion and hind legs like a swine. A totally nonsensical view. Really what sort mutated hybrid was it?
"I am fully aware that this isn't from my world !! Seriously what's wrong with this place ?"
The creature was of course, a species that threw the medical view of evolution out in disorder. It's existence confirmed the theory that he wasn't merely in an unknown place, but in a completely different world.
Such bizarre thoughts were very popular among fiction writers in his world. Ever since the hero, "Nero" saved the world by combining two dimensions, the mythical belief of existence of other dimensions was widely spread throughout the world.
His current state of mind could only be discribed as rudimentary chaos. This prevented him from resisting the creature. On the other hand, the crystallized monkey's interest seemed to be peeked by his fragile human mass.
A second later, the devilish monstrosity cruelly pressed him down with ambidient force and listened to his bones crack and flesh snap. He felt like doll in a mischevious girls hands.
Karl screamed his lungs out and quickly gave up on the thought of playing dead. As unfortunately for him it wasn't a bear or a Mascot from a kids show, but a god-forsaken crystal monkey.
"Click.snap"
"Ah F*ck! damn you, son of a b*tch !!."

The creature had ripped his left arm apart with its pincer .Clearly this rendered the glorious view of peaceful surrender merely as a broken dream.
Karl, unfortunately due to his medical intellect precisely knew ,how ardous life was without a left hand. Being crippled without an arm, was going to be misery of his oncoming days if he lived through this day.
What was he thinking when he thought of this sickening beast as a beautiful crystal herbivore surviving off moss? It was torturing hellbeast that played with it's prey and delivered unforgettable despair.
Faced with such dire odds, he thought with all his might for a way to turn the situation over. In desparation, he threw a nearby crystal at the forehead of the creature for venting off his anger at least. But to his dismay, the beast didn't even flinch due to the momentum of his slowly thrown projectile and continued with it's gore.
"Noooooooooo!!!. What did I ever do to you? I won't forgive you."
The monkey conducted the same procedure as earlier.. to both his legs. As of this movement, he only had only a right arm left from being utterly hopeless. In more ways then one, he was a cripple. He coundn't help but cry from this pain. Fiction heroes may have unshakable resolves and unbending wills but Karl was a normal medic, who was a little cheeky at his best.
But even if crippled, he was still alive. Limbs can be grown back using bodily roughage with the help of Pico chips. This was only in theory yet but was still possible. The main obstacle to his survival, was sitting on his back right now.
"Pico chips.huh."
These were the chips on which humanity survived after the fall of sun. Everybody was born with them , they could be used to manipulate one's DNA to a certain extent.
Just when he had given up,a very insane thought came to his mind .He picked a crystal covered in glittery moss and with all his might .....penetrated it through his skull.

Though dying by getting his heart snapped by a large scorpion was equally terrifying,he dicided to use the last of his now completely diminished strength to opt a totally horrendous alternative. He would rather die by his own hand to celebrate a horrible ending given to him by HIS own lack of ability then let the goddamn beast do the honours.
Yeah ,in the end he was selfish man.One who had lived a proud life relying on hard work unlike his talented peers and family.Night's spent banging his head at book covering unlimited amount of information on Pico chips , trying to figure out puzzles of pico cellular medical science, were still source for self esteem for him. Hard work was his forte and dying a pathetic death at the hand's of a monkey, wasn't acceptable to him at all.
And besides the bizarre thought was,,
"Badump,thump boom"
A symbiotic relationship with the mutated moss.A relation in both give and take from each other. From the creature's clearly hostile behaviour he hypothysed that he was the external component disturbing it's environment. But the living moss didn't show such reaction. He knew because of 'his' infiltration in it's ecosytem, the colourless dull moss had mutated into that of violet colour and luminoud nature.
Using Pico chips he decided to give it "Sentient", which was a concept from the world he came from. It was widely used to control low level life forms with lesser developed minds.
In his world, Picochips were often used to regulate genetical errors .Although artificial life was still only a thing in the realm of dreams, but Pico Chips contained in every part of the human body exactly like a copy of DNA. As DNA is found in every cell of humans, it was also present in the mind 'entity' known as "Karl". Hence so were Pico chips. But the chips could be controlled by him whereas DNA couldn't be.
Fusing them with moss gived birth to absurd thoughts like a symbiosm of support and subdual in return for evolution.
It was very wise saying from his world that "one can never succeed unless, he is willing to take risks" .Karl played a completely unpredictable gamble with his faintinng life and to his courage the fate couldn't help but yield.
Now 'gloriously shining'....as he was covered in luminous moss, Karl pushed the monster with his leftover right arm.The area around the monkey's torso appeared to be soft as it was pushed away rather easily. It instantly realigned itself on the floor next to Karl while responding warily to this change in strength which was bought by the force of moss.
The violet moss present in his stomach flowed covering the enterity of his body from within. While simultaneously his decaying moss covered body parts flew towards their original places.
With his body roughly patched, he took a stand and commanded over the glittering moss covering the chest of monkey and made it penetrate that soft crystalline area around chest. The beast sensing this unfavorable change violently reproached, as it tried to tore Karl's head apart in one go with its razor sharp pincer.
While glaring at the monkey, Karl nonchalently let his views out.
"You know retard, what I hate more than getting messed with ..
The violet moss covered crystal sticking in his head projected itself towards that of monkey's, at a great velocity comparable to that of bullet.
"Bang"
That settled the struggle. The beast died with a crater on it's head and it's chest reduced to what appeared crystalline fragments.
".....Being looked down upon" said Karl as he staggered backwards due to the recoil and fainted instantly on the spot.

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.
