《Starship Nyx》Chapter 17: The miozz
Advertisement
We sat in the conference together with Ja'riwi and his men. First we presented ourselves. Ja'riwi's men were very handsome. Their names were Mi'olio Muhaw'guan and Uam'pho Waci'moal. I asked the vepoiws about the third eye. Like we knew, they could use the eye, though they were different.
The climate on the planet was cold. It was minus twenty degree Celsius or minus four degree Fahrenheit, according to the planetary climatologists. The snows on the planet were black. I would challenge against the fate. Hana coughed softly. She wanted me to behave like a captain.
Everyone stared at me. I apologized about my childlike behavior. We began to speak. I told about Astowi. Ja'riwi and his men became very quiet. He told that they just heard about Astowi. The mysterious organization existed in twenty years.
I asked the vepoiws about the leader, but they didn't have a catastrophic idea. Astowi didn't seem to have a motive. I noticed Mi'olio. He tried to say something and I asked him about his mind. He looked at Ja'riwi. The boss nodded.
"I don't know if you have the game on your home planets, but I heard that Astowi liked to play miozz. The game is very popular," Mi'olio said.
"Can you tell about the miozz?" I asked.
It sounded like a chess. The miozz was the eldest game on the vepoiws' home planet and had the same rules like the chess. Unlike the chess pieces, the miozz pieces were forty. They had ten warriors, two walls, two dragons, two archers, two shadows, a queen and a king in every opening. The miozz pieces reminded about the chess pieces. I asked Mi'olio if we might look at the pieces.
Mi'olio picked up the game from his bag. The board had white and red squares while it had one hundred squares. It was exciting to see the pieces. The warriors, the walls, the dragons and the archers looked almost like the pawns, the rocks, the knights and the bishops. I knew about the king and the queen. The shadows were different.
"Yes, we have the board game. There are different games in some areas on our home planet. But our classic game is chess," I said.
"We never have been on your home planet," Mi'olio said.
"I know. We don't have a knowledge about the shadows. What are they doing?"
"It is very complicated."
"Try to explain to me like a child."
The shadows moved like the king. Unlike the king, they didn't have a royal power. They had a special move. The king felt threatened by the enemy when the shadows could change his place. However, the rule said that the king only once felt threatened. The shadows sounded like a ninja.
I asked the friendly aliens about the board game. They didn't have the game. Uam'pho told that Astowi always picked the warriors. Ja'riwi and his men still didn't understand why Astowi picked the warriors. I realized that we were in the political game. The game began to move.
"I am the expert," I said.
"Oh, yeah?" Uam'pho said.

"I think that there are more than Toug'dim. It is just a beginning."
"What?"
"The question is, why did Astowi play the miozz? Toug'dim is just a warrior because a warrior can be a scout too. He is on the fiendish planet."
Everyone became very stunned. Astowi had to have a dangerous motive. They seemed to mess with the Empire of Haba. There was another motive. Astowi would start the war against the Empire of Haba. What would we do?
"Ja'riwi, are there some female vepoiws you can trust in?" I asked.
"We have two like we trust in," Ja'riwi said.
"They are..." Uam'pho said.
Mi'olio interrupted Uam'pho. I noticed that they were nervous. Why were they nervous?
"I want to hear more about them. You try to hide them. Nice try! I am not stupid," I said.
"Not me either. Sing out!" Ja'riwi said.
Ja'riwi's men began to be hesitant. The problem was that the female vepoiws were very antisocial because they ignored the superior's order. They wished to lead the crew. I have met many antisocial types, so I asked if I might meet the trusted vepoiws. Ja'riwi let me to meet them. Their names were Acoth'zuna Ewos'xin and Gunu'mizy Souan'euno.
We were around on Olodawaia later. The interior design was different from the bad vepoiws' design. It was baby blue. We were on a long way to Acoth'zuna and Gunu'mizy while Ja'riwi's crew stared at us humans. Mi'olio called after Acoth'zuna and Gunu'mizy. They stood up, then they ran to us.
Acoth'zuna was sweet. Her face was very girly. She had two eyes, but she had a special and hidden eye. Her eyes were greenish blue. I began to like the eye. Acoth'zuna could use the eye to cover herself, according to Mi'olio.
Gunu'mizy was secretive. Her skin was darker than the other vepoiws'. She had three eyes. Her eyes were blood red. I also liked the eyes. Gunu'mizy could use the eyes to control her health, according to Mi'olio.
"What is it?" Acoth'zuna asked.
"Eyo!" Mi'olio said.
"What is it, eyo?"
"Yes. This is Cepinoth Mara Tan. She wants to meet you."
"A female cepinoth?"
Acoth'zuna became shocked. She began to blab with herself.
"I will demote you," Acoth'zuna said to me.
Mi'olio became irritated. He wanted to scream at Acoth'zuna, thought he didn't want to do it before us humans.
"I am not a vepoiw. You are not an admiral either. Just a tip. Respect the leaders," I said.
"Somebody doesn't respect me. I hate to respect the leaders!"
We noticed that Acoth'zuna wanted to fight. Mi'olio was close to call after the guards. Ava stopped him. She whispered something in his ear. It was surely about me. Mi'olio nodded.
Acoth'zuna kicked me, so I backed. Her kick was slow and powerful. I said that she couldn't kick me. She became irritated. I said that she couldn't use her brain. She tried to punch me and I blocked her until she gave up.
I won. Acoth'zuna became very tired. I ran to the dummy and then I jump kicked its head. The head hit the bulkhead. Everybody was quiet. I went slowly to Acoth'zuna while she blabbed with herself about my strength.

"What is that?" Acoth'zuna asked.
"It is my new style. I developed the style. Rule one is that you respect the leaders and they respect you back," I said.
Acoth'zuna understood what I meant to respect. She cried.
"Sorry!" Acoth'zuna said.
"Sorry, what?" I said.
"Sorry, layal!"
"Good! You two want to lead the crew, huh? What would happen if somebody would attack your crew with your inexperienced command? Yes, I have been there."
"Can you tell about the inexperienced command, layal?"
"It is a long story. I will tell another time, Acoth'zuna. Not today. Now you are in a bad situation, not us. You know about it."
Acoth'zuna understood what I meant. I had an idea about Gunu'mizy. She would be a prostitute. Everyone without Ava and Adolfo thought that I was a mad woman. Mi'olio protested that the vepoiws might not be prostitutes and then he asked if we humans would become prostitutes. Adolfo said yes, but he said that we were not the vepoiws.
Mi'olio began to protest heatedly. Ja'riwi went fast to his inferior. He asked about the protest. I explained about it and then I asked if it was okay for Ja'riwi. Mi'olio protested against the prostitute again. Ja'riwi warned his inferior about the protests and said yes to my question.
I asked Gunu'mizy if she knew about the prostitutes. She said yes, so it was risky. Mi'olio was very quiet.
"Why are you against the prostitutes?" Ava asked.
"Gunu'mizy's father and I are good friends, so I promise him to look for her. Would she really be a prostitute?" Mi'olio asked.
"Gunu'mizy is my responsibility if something bad will happen to her. It is up to her, Mi'olio," Acoth'zuna said.
Mi'olio understood what Acoth'zuna spoke about. He asked Gunu'mizy if she was ready of the risk. She thought about the thing. We waited for her. It was a slow pause. Gunu'mizy smiled and said yes to the risk.
Mi'olio asked about the plan. I answered that Gunu'mizy might sleep with mass clients while Jenca, Malin and I would look for the princess. Mi'olio thought that I was insane. Ja'riwi reminded him about the warning. I asked to Gunu'mizy if she was ready. She said yes instantly.
The friendly aliens were willing to follow us. I said no due to the bad vepoiws' behavior and the superiors agreed with me. Cunoa and Acoth'zuna knew how the bad vepoiws behaved like. I nodded. We would leave Olodawaia, suddenly I got an idea. Acoth'zuna asked about my idea.
I was in my laboratory, so I brought my weapons. The weapons were ready. I was ready to meet the fate. Hana would take over my command if it would go wrong. I went fast to the hangar. The crew looked at my weapons.
My followers, Acoth'zuna and Gunu'mizy waited for me. Malin and I wore the black uniforms while Cunoa had a black fur and Jenca had black feathers. We flew instantly to the fiendish starbase. My followers and I sat behind Gunu'mizy because we hid for the vepoiws. Acoth'zuna apologized about her bad behavior. I smiled and accepted her apology.
We spoke about our cultures. The cultures were the same, so the vepoiws celebrated their traditional day like us humans. They were very special to have a family. I asked about the family. Acoth'zuna had an elder sister and two parents. Her father and sister respected each other.
Gunu'mizy had just a father. Acoth'zuna asked us about the family. Malin had an elder brother and a mother. Her father passed away when she was a little girl. Cunoa had two parents and four siblings. Jenca didn't have a family.
I had two parents, but I didn't have any siblings. The screen was abruptly red. Gunu'mizy looked at me and I nodded. She answered. I imagined that the border guard became very surprised to see that she wore a sexy bikini. He stuttered nervously and asked her if she was alone.
Gunu'mizy asked back if she wouldn't be a lone girl. I imagined that the border guard became stunned to hear that the female vepoiw behaved like a whore. He began to laugh and then he let Gunu'mizy to fly to the planet. She thanked him for the invitation.
We flew away. Gunu'mizy began to smile.
"Good job!" I said.
"Thank you, layal!" Gunu'mizy said.
"Keep to work!"
It was me who taught Gunu'mizy about the whorish behavior. I scanned the planet. There was only a bomb. I asked to Malin about it and she looked into it. She confirmed that it was an atomic bomb, but she said that there were mass missed atomic bombs. Why did the bad vepoiws have many missed bombs?
Astowi would plan to bombard the Empire of Haba! It would become tragic. I asked Acoth'zuna about the atomic bombs. She didn't know something about them. I explained carefully about them. Acoth'zuna would contact her planet.
"Don't worry for your planet. We have to concentrate on the princess, not on what the bad vepoiws will do with the bombs, Acoth'zuna! Do you understand?" I asked.
"Yes, layal!" Acoth'zuna said.
"Good girl!"
We flew to the planet and the climate was minus twenty degree Celsius or minus four degree Fahrenheit. I said that we would jump out. Gunu'mizy nodded. The door opened automatic. I warned Gunu'mizy about her bad health. She knew.
Gunu'mizy wished us a good luck. I said the same thing to her. We jumped out, so we landed on the mountain later while Jenca hovered. Gunu'mizy flew away. We looked around. I scanned this mountain.
The mountain was very high. We knew that there was a house. I looked at the map. Why was there only a house on the mountain? It was not far from us. We ran on a way.
The house was a cottage. We went around the cottage. Two persons moaned breathlessly. It sounded as if a man fucked a woman.

Know that a forgotten heritage of a dwindling people whispered, unknowingly sending a call to the ancient mysteries of the world. Something listened. Yet, the threat of it is real and that’s why I’m writing this warning with shaking hands. So pay attention those who read this, be careful of what lies waiting cloaked in the darkness. That which made their home the lost places of this world.” She folded the letter with a shuddering breath and stared back in the direction from where the noise reverberated through the halls. It was of stone doors shattering one by one. The chances of getting out safely were all but gone. The letter in her hand was all warning they would have. It dropped into one of the Wells and all that could be done now was hope it was found in time, if at all. -- This was my very first large story. ;) I started writing it years ago. Was fun, was difficult, but in the end, it is a story I hope that will inspire. The prologue is in first person perspective and the rest of the story in 3d. Just a little heads-up :P It is a fantasy epic with a contemporary twist for the start. The first arc of the novel is set inside our modern world, but as the mysterious events around Calin intensifies, the hidden secrets in the world start to become more fantastical. The story follows Calin, a young orphan in search of answers. But, the answers he seeks will change his life and that of his friends forever, for the secrets that caused his situation have far greater ramifications than the small village of Lamb's Crest could have known. Remember to leave ratings and reviews. I'm quite interested in hearing your thoughts on the story. ;) Enjoy reading, Omri Hope

An Average American in A High-school Academy Anime
An American versed in narrative tropes and more than mildly acquainted with anime wakes up in a completely different bed than the one he went to bed in. Now he has to scramble to understand where he is, what's going on, and hope to God he isn't in a relationship drama. I don't expect this to be good or well-received, but I have plenty of time this quarantine, so I'll try to get a chapter of 4000-10000 words out every one or two weeks. (haha) Please let me know how it can be improved. I'm an avid reader of fiction, but I've never really fallen down a rabbit hole so hard that I can name all tropes and settings and such by heart. I'm not sure if this will be effective satire, so I preemptively apologize. Inspired by: "My Life is Not a Manga, or maybe..." by EO Tenkey and "The Simulacrum" by Eganthale. Check them out if you want probably better stories than this one.
