《A new horizon》13. Force

Gawen happily upgraded the ale which he bought on his own in a matter of minutes. Then he called the people working in the castle to send the barrels of ale to the main hall as a raven had come from one of the outposts saying that Robb Stark and his small entourage would be arriving at their castle by evening.

/*percentage has been changed to exp points. Sorry I wrote that wrong before*/
"Eh!! what is this?" Gawen, who was ready to go out of the storage room, stopped in his tracks. All these few months, he had been upgrading bread and whatever possible for him like books, small things in his solar and even random things that he could get his hand upon.
He found it fun and satisfactory.
And the experience points progressed very slowly due to this constant upgrade. He got a vague understanding that larger the things he upgraded, the higher he received the exp points. After he got the first exp point he was excited as he thought he would receive something extraordinary.
But he didn't receive any notification nor any item which he had been dreaming about.
Until today.
Gawen had no idea what these exp points suggested so after his first excitement which turned out to be cold water he decided that he wouldn't pay any heed to it. But today out of the blue there was a new option prompting him to choose.
"Three!! Light, dark and neutral. Weird options. I ain't a saintly person so nor a very bad person. at least that's what I think. So neutral it is." Gawen thought.

And this 'status' panel which had always worked on thoughts, chose Neutral as that option got highlighted.
[
Neutral
telekinesis - 10 exp points
force track - 10 exp points
psychometry - 10 exp points
...
]
"Telekinesis? So I will get telekinesis if I choose it? Now that's what I am talking about. But what is this force track and psychometry?"
Gawen almost jumped when he read the first option as he thought he would get the power of telekinesis. But the other two options confused him. There were other options below those three but he could hardly read what was written on the options.
He realised that the system wanted him to spend 10 exp points to gain one of the three. At least he knew what telekinesis was. If he could get telekinesis then it would be a huge boon for him. Especially, in this world where everything was dangerous.
"Telekinesis."

Neutral - telekinesis
Blood count - 500 midi-chlorians
]
Gawen immediately felt a jolt in his body. He almost felt dizzy the moment he chose telekinesis. It took a few seconds for him to overcome this feeling. Then after getting clarity, he needed to make sure that what he felt or the new information that he just received was true. And if it was true then it would mean he had just hit the greatest jackpot of his life.
He looked around to see if he was alone in the storage room. After making sure he was the only person there, he pointed his hand to the broom lying nearby.
He concentrated and used his thoughts to move the broom. He followed exactly like the new information which his brain had just received.
And then it happened.
The broom slowly levitated a little high in the air.

The broom then rotated on its axis as Gawen moved his hand. But after a few seconds, he felt weak. So he slowly let the broom down.
"So this is telekinesis."
Gawen should have been happy and jumping in joy after what he had just done.
But he wasn't!!
Because the last sentence of blood count had just brought one of his oldest memories near his eyes. The midi-chlorians. Its number determined a person's synchronisation with the force powers. Anakin had a count of 20,000 midi-chlorian!!.
Yes. The Force powers!!
Darth Vader and his whole story!!!
It was fine if it was just the status panel giving him powers. But if there was a Jedi or Sith Lord out there, then he was truly fucked!!
Both physically and mentally!!
"Oh God of tits and wine!! Please don't tell me that I am in a world where there is a Republic Empire." Gawen prayed in his mind. As his thoughts spiralled out, Gawen felt a hand on his shoulder.
This scared him and almost made him jump.
"Gawen.. Are you alright? Mother was looking for you."
"Ahh Erena.. You scared the crap out of me!!"
Erena giggled hearing the shaky voice of his brother. She saw that his brother was spacing out so she came to bring him back to reality to bring him to their mother who had been searching.
"Let's go. Mother is waiting."
Gawen nodded his head and followed his sister but he was still distracted by what had happened. He achieved a force power but this power comes with a lot of baggage.
The influence of the dark side. He needed to make sure that he never falls on the dark side or else his life would be over. Even on the light side he wasn't a big fan as that too came with lots of restrictions. He needed to tread very carefully in this and make sure he wasn't influenced either by the light side or the dark side.
"So there is a neutral side of force too. This is new information for me. I should have been more nerdy and read about game of thrones and star wars lore. My small knowledge isn't of any help here."
Gawen was having random thoughts as he reached the hall where there were long dining tables on either side with various cutleries, crockeries and plates on the table almost ready to serve food. Their mother was directing everything and arranging.
"Mother you called?" Gawen asked.
"Aye... Where did you get so many different kinds of ale? I have never drank such a good ale in my life." Sybelle said as she licked her lips involuntarily.
