《A new horizon》2. Poison

The knocks on the door continued for a minute or so before stopping altogether and the silence after the knock was something that Trevor had been praying for.
But the silence was short as a woman's voice came from the other side of the room.
"Young Lord Gawen, are you in there? Are you alright?"
"Gawen? Who is Gawen? Is it me or the lady? Wait! Since she called out Master it's probably me. F**k, get your s**t together Trevor. You need such a long time to figure that out. What do I do now? Should I open the door? This seems like I am in very old time. Is there police in this world? F**k what should I do?"
Then the voice on the door stopped. Trevor got relieved as even her voice was giving him a huge headache and this prompted his brain to work slower than normal as the pain was overwhelming.
But then instead of knocking, there was loud banging on the door.
"Leave me alone lady." Trevor wanted to scream on top of his lungs. And these bangings just elevated his pain to another degree.
"Whatever!! I will just open the door. If I am accused of murder so be it. I will just commit suicide again. Who cares!! This headache itself is killing me."
Trevor gathered the courage and finally opened the door. Opening the door welcomed him with a gust of very cold and chilling wind. And the wind was accompanied by a pleasant smell. Probably from the woman who was standing in front of him.
"Young Lord Gawen are you alright? We have been looking for you for such a long time. Your mother is worried about you...." the woman said but he stopped in her verbal tracks when she saw a lady on the floor inside.

"uhhh.. Kayla... What happened to her... Kayla...."
"I... I....I don't know... I was sleeping but...." Trevor was fumbling when he was trying to explain himself. While the woman who looked like a maid went inside to check on the dead girl who was apparently named Kayla.
As Trevor was trying to find words to properly explain his situation, the woman checked the girl and smelt her.
"This wolfsbane.. A deadly poison... Young Lord Gawen... Are you alright... Are you poisoned...?" The woman asked now her voice changed from concern to anxiety.
"Uhh.. I am alright... Can you please stop talking so loud.. My head is hurting a bit with all the loud noise." Trevor said as all he wanted now was nothing but to stop this splitting headache of his.
"Young Lord Gawen, we need to take you to Maester Wolkan. This is a serious matter...." The woman's voice was now turning agitated, paying no attention to the fact that he just said to lower her voice.
Now, her voice was too much for Trevor and he felt extremely dizzy. He felt like his world was spinning and his eyes felt heavy, and before he could realize he fell on the floor with the woman's incomprehensible screaming.
---
Trevor was out cold for 2 days. The so-called Maester Wolkan who was looking after him was confused. The child had the breath of Wolfsbane and he should have been dead. But miraculously, he was just unconscious and had a steady heartbeat and no complications whatsoever.
The dead woman was what angered the Lord of the Castle.
Robett Glover was his name.
The Lord of Deepwood Motte.
Gawen was his only son and he loved him. He became furious when he came to know that his son was given wolfsbane. He suspected that the dead girl was responsible for it and sent his men to look for the background of the girl.

And conveniently nobody knew where the girl came from. She appeared in Deepwood Motte out of thin air and using her beauty she got close to Yong Lord Gawen. And one thing led to another, Young Lord Gawen took her to his personal chambers.
The next thing they knew was that Young Lord Gawen didn't come out of the room for a long time. The maid got worried as having 'fun' inside his chambers shouldn't take that long and it was related to the safety of the Young Lord.
That was when the maid knocked at the door and their 'Young Lord Gawen' had a massive headache and fainted after a minute the maid entered his room.
-------
When Trevor opened his eyes he saw that he was in a different room altogether. This room looked bigger than the room he was in before. The room looked dark with few candles around and a typical fireplace. And this room too, like the previous one he had seen before, looked ancient and a little bit dirty for his taste, at least in terms of modern standards which he was used to.
When he moved his head he saw that woman was sitting in a chair and her head was over the huge blanket that he had been covered with. She looked like she was sleeping and Trevor could make out a few tear stains on her face.
Seeing that face, Trevor felt warm in his heart for no reason whatsoever.
"Why am I feeling such weird emotions for an unknown woman? Is she the mother of the boy that I took over? Wait. I should be in a prison for murder. Is my position so high that crimes can be overlooked?"
Trevor doubted this when he saw the maid's concern before and she called him 'Young Lord Gawen'.
"Thank god I don't have that terrifying headache anymore. Finally, I can think straight." Trevor thought.
"Now I need to understand the situation before I blow up my cover."
Though he didn't know for how much time he was out, but by seeing the tear stains of this woman he could guess that the woman might be his 'mother'. And from the surrounding he was pretty sure now that he had transmigrated into an ancient time. He might have time traveled or came to a different world.

The Court of Souls?
Author's Comment: I was asked about reading my work on other sites. The answer is simple: Currently I am not active in any other networks than royalroadl.com. Only here, I correct mistakes and errors. If you read it anywhere else and have to pay for it, or have to deal with an annoying amount of advertisement, You Are Being Betrayed. You would do good if you make other people in that network aware of it. This is a free project of mine for the purpose of having fun. And if people try to make money with it you shouldn't bother visiting their website. The only one whom I actually allowed to have my work on his website is Armaell who invested the time to compile them into pdf. (http://armaell-library.net/author/andur) ——————————————————————————————— Reading Order of the Multiverse-Books ——————————————————————————————— What do we talk about tonight? ~“How about a story?”~ Fine by me. Which story? Hopefully a good one. ~“There was once a lonely child in a world filled with myths, gods and demons. Only power counted there and the weak were worse than cattle. A world where survival of the fittest ruled.”~ Was it strong then? ~“No, but the child had a power. One that made him stand between light and darkness. Nothing could escape him, so he was shunned by his people.”~ What did he do? Did he fight his fate? Did he hide his power? What was it? ~“Oh, he fought. He fought a lot. And no thing could escape his power. It was something that everyone had to live with.”~ So he became a hero and changed the world? ~“…”~ Tell me. ~“Nooo, that's not how the story goes. This isn't a story of a noble man, doing good amidst a sea of monsters. This is a story of a demon who was... kinder than the rest.”~ A kind demon? How boring. ~“I think it would be better if I tell the story, so you can judge for yourself.”~ So tell the story!

At The Lions Gate
In the 20th century America reinvented itself. Devastated by depression, scarred by war, rocked by a revolution, Americans banded together to preserve their country and their freedom. They had faith in themselves, faith in one another, and for those who believed…faith in God. This novel tells the story of one American who lived through those turbulent years….years that would test his character and the character of a nation. For Josh Sanders it begins in 1935. A star athlete in school, pro football is a ticket out of poverty during the Great Depression; but when his father, a WWI veteran, is killed during a robbery, Josh’s spirit is broken, and with it his boyhood dream. To honor his father Josh joins the war effort in 1942, distinguishing himself as a fighter pilot, until a fateful decision near the end of the war changes the course of his life once again. But many years later, after a stint as a boxer and a failed marriage, Josh finds his calling…at a time when the country is at war with itself. The year is 1968. King and Kennedy have been killed, race riots are breaking out, and Vietnam has become an albatross, causing massive protests across the country. In the streets of San Francisco Josh watches a crowd of students march for peace. As a veteran he’s conflicted, toward the war and those who oppose it. But when he encounters Rosy Goldin, a spirited young protester in need of help, a voice from the past calls him to action. His good intentions are soon tested when Rosy falls in love with the fugitive anti-war activist Erick White, a young man determined to oppose the war at all costs, against the wishes of his own father. Fearful of what happens to Rosy, Josh confronts Erick, unwilling to be part of his plan to escape…until he meets the boy’s father. A high-powered criminal attorney, Karl White is also a flag-waving patriot demanding that his son follow the law. But as White makes his case Josh is jolted by a painful war-time memory, a crisis of conscience that will soon determine the fate of Rosy Goldin and Erick White.
