《My Only Lorelei》Vol 2: Chapter 29 - The Reckless Pirate

“Lewis! Tal! Everyone!”
I screamed at the top of my lunge.
Now that I knew that the wish the earring granted for him wasn’t the same one as Crowell, the others wouldn’t have a thing to worry about.
“Why you piece of shit—”
Frankie cursed as the door burst open.
Before Lewis and Tal could analyze the situation, Frankie spawned a few gold coins in his hand and then chucked them towards the open door.
Lewis and Tal both put their arms up to block the sudden barrage of coins.
Using the time he had gained from that, Frankie rushed towards the broken window towards the back of the room.
I could clearly see his intentions, so I moved in his way. That was a big mistake.
He leapt onto the desk and then performed a jump kick towards the window. I got hit by his leg and fell off of the window along with him.
I landed right on top of the pirate I had kicked out earlier while Frankie landed on top of me.
Before I could even recover from the fall, Frankie got up and was running away.
It was a two-story drop, I had no idea how he could recover so quickly.
Mun and Chris exited from the front door.
“Go after him!” I managed to call out.
Mun chased after Frankie while Chris knelt beside me.
“Are you okay? Are you able to move, Din?” She asked as she examined me.
My body felt like it doubled its weight. I could lift my head slightly, but I had no chance of getting up fully.
“You’re lucky this other guy was there to break your fall. If you had fallen on your back from that height, you would be in a much worse situation.”

I chuckled, “Thank goodness for that…”
Soon after, Tal and Lewis came out of the same front door.
“I knew we should’ve gone with him,” Lewis murmured.
“What’s the situation?” Tal asked.
I tried my best to tell them all that had happened. It was hard speaking for long, but I managed to explain everything to them.
“So his wish was to get coins? That does make it a lot easier for us,” Tal nodded to himself.
“Your eyes, Din, do you feel any different? You currently have the eyes of a Spirit,” Chris pointed out.
So Frankie did see my eyes turn.
“I feel fine. I think they changed in the middle of the fight. Enough about me, Mun is chasing after Frankie right now. They were headed towards the Higher Central.”
Tal and Lewis nodded before chasing after them.
I let out a sigh of relief as I had done my part. I tried again to sit up but it was no use.
“Din, are you okay?” Lorelei asked.
I looked to my side and found her floating right there.
“Where did you go earlier?” I asked.
She had a confused look on her face, “What do you mean? I was there by your side the entire time.”
Had I somehow not noticed her? Was I that focused on the battle?
“Din, don’t force yourself too hard,” Chris mentioned as she laid me down again.
It felt rude to use the fallen pirate as a headrest, but he was definitely softer than resting on the stone ground.
But I couldn’t rest now, I knew I couldn’t fight anymore, but I had to make sure it all ended tonight.
I used all of the energy I had in me to stand up.

Chris reluctantly helped me up and because of her help, I was able to stand upright again.
“Thank you,” I whispered.
I didn’t have the energy to speak out after using it all to just stand.
She slowly helped me towards the Higher Central. Even though I knew I wouldn’t have the energy to fight, I still held my sword tightly.
—In the Higher Central, Mun had managed to get around Frankie so now, Frankie was surrounded by Tal, Mun, and Lewis.
There were bodies of pirates and regular citizens of Lanport everywhere in the Higher Central, but the ones alive had already moved away from the spot.
Tal and Mun both had their daggers while Lewis was using a sword and a shield.
Lewis charged in first to make Frankie swing his dagger towards the shield. Mun took that chance to throw a dagger towards Frankie. Even though Frankie surely had enough time to dodge the daggers, he used his open hand to pull Lewis’ shield to the side.
One of the throwing daggers hit Frankie in the back while the other two hit Lewis in the chest.
Lewis managed to swing his sword towards Frankie, but Frankie moved to the side to dodge it.
While crouched low, Tal ran up towards Frankie and then swung his daggers in a wide horizontal motion. Frankie noticed that so he jumped over Tal. Because Tal had been low, it was easy for Frankie to jump over.
But Frankie hadn’t realized that, that was what Tal had hoped for.
When Frankie was about to land, Lewis was already there, ready to slash his sword. Frankie managed to barely place his dagger in between the two of them, keeping himself from getting cut, but because he hadn’t planted his feet on the ground yet, the clash of the blades caused him to fall on the ground next to the bread stall I had visited a few days back.
Of course, the owner was nowhere near the stall now. The way he was acting that day might not have been how he was normally, but the fact that I couldn’t see his body nearby made me feel relieved.
Right as I thought it was all over, Frankie threw his dagger towards Tal, who had been the closest. Luckily, Lewis was able to react in time and block the dagger, but Frankie was able to get up and run.
He didn’t get far before something jumped on top of him from behind one of the stalls.
It was Percy.
“Let go of me!” Frankie screamed as he moved left and right while trying to grab Percy.
“This earring isn’t yours! It’s my mom’s!” Percy screamed back.
He was trying his hardest to grab the earring while also avoiding falling off.
It was no use though, he quickly fell to the floor before Lewis, Tal, and Mun could catch up.
Frankie was already far now.
Chris and I walked closer towards Percy, who was still resting on the floor. I was reminded of how I must’ve looked after falling from the two-story window.
“We can’t let him get away,” Tal instructed. “He’s heading towards the city center now. If he keeps heading west, he’ll run into Scarlett’s crew and then we’ll have him cornered.”
“Right, then. Let’s go,” Lewis nodded.
“You don’t need to do that.”
We all turned to Percy, who had just gotten up. He opened his hand and revealed a ruby earring. It was the Spirit item.

This is fan fiction, and no challenge to their ownership rights is intended. Goge Vandire is a name written in to the annals of Imperial history in blood. Often literally. No single mortal has commanded authority on the scale at which he exercised it at his height. His name is as synonymous with unspeakable evil as that of the Warmaster, Horus himself. And yet he was just a man. Where did such a man come from? What drove him to the steps he took to secure power to himself and, once he had it, how did he come to misuse it so grievously? I have scoured the records - many of them once thought lost or placed under the unbreakable seal of the Inquisition - to uncover his forgotten story, piecing together his childhood, his apprenticeship, his rise to power and his descent into madness and death. It is not the story you might expect...
