《Sonnets》23. For Wren

Life has a way of never going how we hope

often tossing curve balls we swing through.

You don't need to be a genius or even a pope

to understand grief, and what we must do.

People come and go, some sooner than others

some before they get a chance to draw breath.

False starts are painful to mothers and fathers,

as no one is ever prepared that early for death.

What passed on that day was more than just life

but the hopes and dreams of a future so bright.

The world lost a child, maybe a sister, or a wife,

a soul that deserved to see tomorrow's daylight.

No one ever wants to feel that sorrow ever again,

but it will be endured, in memory of sweet Wren.
