《Red Desination - Changing Fate (DROPPED)》Sparring

"Okay class, we'll have you each in partners of two to use your affinities on each other. This way, you get a bit of combat experience along with training your affinity." said the teacher. Looking at her closely, she had quite a masculine frame with multiple scars, yet a feminine face. "Would you like to be my partner?" a smaller boy asked me, snapping me out of my pubescent trance. Although he was rather short, he had clear muscles that could've only formed from hard training. "Sure. What's your affinity?" I asked, getting in a position for a counter-attack. "Water." the boy replied. I'm going to have PTSD from water affinities...
A stream of water jetted towards my head. It barely drew blood as I shifted my head to the left. Seeing as this was such a weak attack, it must've been a distraction. Unfortunately, I didn't realize in time; a punch was already connecting with my gut. His fist that felt as hard as steel blew me back and knocked the wind out of me. Following up with a wave of water, I could do nothing but get blown around. The water, seeming to drag me towards him, made the right side of my face connect with a spinning hook-kick which sent me spinning into the air.
Barely regaining my senses, I tried to use my fire. Never being able to use my affinity was a letdown. I've read so many blogs and read so many books about how to use it, but I never succeeded. With my current streak of continuous failure, I had no hope for this attempt. When I opened my eyes, I was once again met with the seemingly never-ending disappointment of not being able to use my affinity. My opponent rushed over and extended a helping hand to me. I hesitated, but accepted. "I'm sorry, I went overboard. Are you not able to use your affinity or something?" he questioned, a hint of genuine sorrow in his voice.

"I haven't been able to activate it yet. I've been trying so hard ever since I received a tag, but it just isn't working." I replied. With a look of confusion on his face quickly turning into a smirk, I got worried. Was I up against another psycho? "Pfft, that's fine. I was able to use mine after continuously sparring with my father. Let's go again." he said. Thankfully, he seemed like a good person.
Pushing my body to the limit, I stared right at his eyes. Waiting for any sudden movement, I was met with no water at all. Instead, he started running to me very slowly. Is he tired out? He didn't seem all that exhausted earlier, but affinities do take a toll on your body. Almost getting lost in thought, I dodged a jab to my liver. Putting all my weight on my feet, I tightened my body and loosened my arm, throwing a clean right hook that connected into his cheekbone. As he slid back a bit while maintaining his stance, I followed up by pivoting my left foot and shooting a kick into his stomach.
With the wind knocked out of him, I took advantage of the situation and started off another kick. Swiveling until my back was towards him, my left leg shot up into the air and hit straight at his chin. A sudden burst of water shaped like a fork caught my kick. "Hey hey, you might seriously knock me out if you keep going. Where'd you learn to fight like that?" he asked, a bit nervously. "My mother taught me for as long as I remember," I told him. A look of disbelief washed over his face, masking his earlier stress. "W..what? Your mother? You're kidding, right?" he asked. Is it really that difficult to believe? It's just how to fight... anyone can do it.

Before I could reply, the bell rang marking the end of the period. "You heard the bell, get to your next class! Remember to pick up your bags back in the classroom." the teacher shouted. Pulling out my phone, I checked what my next class was. History...

The Magic Swordsman
Clearing the most difficult mode of an RPG game called ?The Invasion Of The Demon King?, Hiro Miyagawa unlocked a new difficulty, the ?Hardcore Mode?. Pressing the "Yes" Button, a sudden white light flashed on the screen of the TV, forcing him to close his eyes. Due to the lack of sleep from playing the game three days in a row, Hiro fell asleep and reincarnated into Theo Regnard the moment he woke up. As the support character of the game ?The Invasion Of The Demon King?, Theo Regnard was destined to die at the beginning of the game. Refusing this kind of fate happening to him, he resolved himself to become stronger and walk into an unknown road instead of choosing the supposed "Good Ending". This is the story of a man who was cursed by the demon god, a story of a fallen prince who has chosen the path filled with blood and revenge, a story of a support character who became the main character, a story of the man called Theo Regnard. Author Note This is a slow-paced story and the first book that I'm writing. I hope that those who are interested in that book can find the enjoyment they were looking for.

huh?... So no reincarnation for me?...****Warning! Mature Content!****I extend my arm out as far as it goes and stab myself with all my might. The blade securely lodges between my ribs. One problem solved. Finally having my hand free I immediately bend down and scoop up flickering glass candle holder. In one swift motion I straighten out, turn and throw it at the closest of my pursuers. To my surprise it's a perfect square hit and the leading veteran crashes into the headstone he was just about to jump over. It was waaay too close for my comfort. If not for this success, shortly after I would be the one lying on the ground…----------------------My first attempt at writing a book - the way i like them.
8 156Hazelsong: A LitRPG Novel
Release Schedule: I will be moving to a set release schedule as of 1/1/2022. A new chapter will be released every Saturday at Noon EST. If I have time that week for a second chapter, I will leave a note on the Saturday chapter and post the second chapter on Sunday at Noon EST. An up to date character sheet for the MC Erik will also be posted on Sundays at 12:15 PM. If life happens and I am for some reason unable to write that week, I will post a blank chapter giving you an update on where I am with my writing. Saturday Noon EST: First weekly chapter Sunday Noon EST: Second weekly chapter (if I have the time) Sunday 12:15 EST: Updated character sheet Synopsis: Years after surviving a deadly accident, Erik struggles to come to terms with his painful disability. When offered the chance to playtest the world's first full immersion VRMMO, he wants nothing more than to retreat back into his secluded life, until he learns what Hazelsong really offers. An escape from the pain. Hazelsong is a world of magic and adventure, a place where friendships are formed, loot is won, and glory and fame are there for the taking. While the threats feel real and the stakes are always high, there is only one thing Erik is really in danger of. Forgetting which world is actually real. Story Themes: Hazelsong is a LitRPG novel that not only explores the fictional world of a realistic online fantasy realm but the life of a man suffering in silence from chronic pain and PTSD due to a significant physical injury and disability. Mental health is an important subject and we all know at least one person in our lives who has or is dealing with some form of mental illness. I plan on putting my best effort forward to represent these illnesses in a fair and accurate manner. Not as a cheap plot device to help make the protagonist more unique, but to help paint an accurate picture for those of us who have been lucky enough to not have to suffer in silence. About the Author: I am Ash Durra, general video game nerd and a connoisseur of fantasy and sci-fi of all shapes and sizes. Needless to say, I am not a professional author (B.S. and M.S. in Education, 8 years teaching). After really getting into LitRPG novels over the past several years, I found my way to Royal Road, which has inspired me to use my spare time to begin writing a story of my own creation. As this is a hobby, I am not writing and posting chapters on any kind of specific schedule at the moment, though my goal is to post on average 1-2 chapters a week. I am incredibly excited to share this story with others as I write it, and I look forward to any constructive feedback about how I can improve in my writing.
