Hazard Lands Revenge
Chapter 15 - Horror (Unedited)
Author’s Notes – I just moved to another city, so sorry chapter’s late, even though they all usually are. Also, I want to know why you guys even read this crap so I can get a better idea how not to lose followers. In addition, I’m sorry for how dramatic my story is concerning my character’s emotional states, it’s… hard for me to hold back on questioning a person’s psychology whenever I write.
--* Mildr City, World Nations’ Central Army Base *--
The screams of horror and despair constantly echoed out in his mind. Nik’s eyes suddenly opened, filled with streams of tears that ran down his cheeks. The boy was left inside of a dark room, surrounded by medical equipment, just like before. This was the least of his worries however, as he remembered everything. Remembered the massacre he had caused.
….
“H-hey, Nik?” Jasmine’s voice filtered out from her mouth as she stared at the boy with a tinge of fear.
He ignored her however, as the being examined his body, slight disappointment in its eyes.
“Protect us from the darkness, Light Barrier!” the violet robed man chanted, as a bright wall of light surrounded the demon. “You three, run away! This barrier won’t be-“ before the man could finish his words, a tendril of darkness shattered the wall and impaled his chest, spraying blood all over the floor.
“Hahaha! You think your petty magic can stop me?” the demonic being laughed as he stared at the elder collapse onto the ground. Shifting his eyes from the dead Mystic, he found Jasmine, Hudsonn and Garrett frozen in the middle of the room.
“Hoh? So you three are this brat’s friends?” without waiting for their response, an additional four tendrils appeared from his visage, surrounding his body like a mass of tentacles.
“Run!” Garrett’s voice pierced the air, as he blew back the two recruits towards the door with a wave of his hand.
“Garrett, we can help! Nik’s our friend; we need to know what happened to him! I have high aptitude for fire right?” Jasmine wailed, desperately struggling towards the figure clad in black, yet two giant arms adamantly held her back.
“Jasmine, we’re dead weight. I want to go help as well, but we’d just distract Garrett…” Hudsonn solemnly stated. It truly pained him being unable to help, but that was the price for being weak.
“Hu… hu…” tears streamed down the girl’s salty cheeks. She knew that she wouldn’t be able to help. So what if she had a high aptitude for Mysticism, she did not know how to properly control her powers. The universe may have provided them instructions, but techniques on casting spells and meditation won’t allow them to properly control their dangerous powers. Only a veteran Mystic and experience can allow them to obtain sufficient control over their powerful techniques.

Knowing that, she truly had no choice but to retreat to ensure that they won’t put either Nik or Garrett into dangerous situations.
“So, are you three done with that drama?” a childish, yet domineering voice filled the air. Before the two recruits had the chance to turn around and run away, the black mist surrounding them seemed to thicken, making of difficult to even breathe.
“Nik! Wake up, why are you doing this to your friends?” Garrett yelled angrily, but he already knew it was useless. It was as if the boy had turned into a completely new person.
“Nik? No, I am Limperus, the Overlord of the Abyss. Grovel before me, pest!” the demon’s voice rose even higher, shaking the whole building from its unabated might. Jasmine and Hudsonn had already fallen to the floor, their eyes showcasing white and their faces twisted in pain. Garrett fared better, yet he could barely stand due to the pressure pressing down on his body.
The five black tendrils in the air rushed down towards the three petty figures, but suddenly froze. Lifting their tips to “stare” at the door, they slowly meandered forward. Caution filled ‘Nik’s’ face as he stared at it as well.
With a bang, the door exploded into a shower of splinters.
“So this is where they are…” a middle aged man walked into the dark room, his light blue eyes scanning the surroundings. He saw the two fainted recruits on the ground before his feet, then the kneeling Garrett, who was gaping in surprise. His eyes shifted once again, pausing on the figure standing in the middle of the room.
Immediately, the man disappeared from where he stood and suddenly appeared besides Garrett, grabbing the grown man like a toy and rushing towards the door, latching onto the two fainted recruits.
“A storm brews from a breeze, Gust!” his body grew even faster as he charged through the doorway and into the hall. Enraged of the man’s actions, an almost infinite amount of tendrils seeped out of the Demon’s body and shot towards the retreating figure. Like the spread of night, the dark mist exploded out, covering the whole building, but not before the man broke through the building wall and escaped.
“Everyone, run away, you can’t defeat that monster! Wait for a Colonel or higher ranked officer to personally take care of it!” the faint voice crossed through the monster’s ear, further enraging it. With a loud roar, the Demon shot forth from the building, starting the massacre of hundreds of lives.

….
“Blerg---!” green mush erupted from Nik’s mouth as his face began to pale. Horror was the only thing readable in his eyes, as tears fell like rivers, mixing into the green covering his previously pristine white blanket.
His eyes moved to his hands, which seemed perfectly clean, but he could see it. It was the blood of the innocents that he had unjustly murdered. He recalled the stink of gunpowder in the air and the bodily waste splashing over the streets as he ripped soldiers apart. His ears constantly rang with the screams of despair and horror. It was the screams and cries of soldiers who only wanted to protect their country, only to be killed by a demon. His demon. He remembers the touch of flesh and the soft mushy feeling of crushed organs.
“…” Nik’s mouth was opened wide, as if he wanted to yell, but he couldn’t. It was as if his voice was stuck inside of his throat, unable to come out. Two tainted hands moved to cover his ears trying to block the voices of the dead. The poor boy’s mind was absolutely broken.
He had experience killing mutated monsters, including humanoid mutated monsters, but he didn’t feel anything about it. It was as if he was killing ants, destroying meaningless life. But this was different. He had killed hundreds of innocent lives. If it weren’t for him, those soldiers could have returned to their families. If it weren’t for him, those men and women could have become important figures in history. If it weren’t for him…
If only he didn’t live.
Nik’s eyes frantically searched the room; tears no longer ran down his cheeks as he did so. Fragile hands carefully scavenged over everything, until he found it.
A scalpel.
His body was shivering. Was it truly right for him to kill himself? Did he want to destroy his future?
Then his shaking stopped. Why was it okay for him to kill those people?
But… but…
Nik’s mind contemplated his decision at lightning speeds. It was as if time had frozen. It truly was devastating to kill hundreds of innocents, but was killing himself the right way to atone for it?
Seconds passed, then minutes, yet to the boy pointing a scalpel at his throat, it felt like days. His eyes were glazed over with a cloud of doubt, but slowly, as time passed something else appeared.
Resolution.
Killing himself was an easy way to atone for his sins, but was it the right way? No, his mind was made up. If he cannot atone for his sins that way, then the Demon within him will. Though a hint of hesitation was still pent up, his eyes were no longer cloudy, but hard and decisive. He would destroy that Demon, overlord or not, and bend it to his guidance.
That is… if the Law allows him to.
“So, you’re awake…” a familiar voice echoed out across the room. Nik shifted his eyes over at the burly man at the doorway. His hands tightly gripped the scalpel, which he had hidden inside of his hospital robe.
“General… how are the two other recruits?” Nik quietly asked, his eyes filled with caution as he stared at the man in front of him. Even though he did not fight the General directly, he still remembers the man’s overbearing power.
“They will take over a week to recover,” he answered.
Nik sighed in relief, but it was stopped shortly when he heard the man’s next words.
“You, however, might not be as lucky as them. You are to come to the National Court in an hour. Prepare yourself, and do not shame our Army,” the General warned, then promptly left through the door.
A fierce glare was settled on Nik’s eyes. This single trial will decide whether he lives, or if he dies.
Only time will tell…
Arc 1 – Blood Rain
Finished
Arc 2 – World
Next
So, I’m glad that you all managed to last through 15 chapters of cringe worthy moments! Because this is the end of the chapter and arc, instead of a document, I’ll just skimp out because I have to plan things for the next arc.
*SPOILERS*
I don’t know how to do spoiler tags… Anywho, the next arc will be infinitely longer than this, probably 30 chapters or so, and will contain lots and lots of missions, because I won’t let my characters just stay in the military and train. That’d be too boring.
So, for the next week or so, I’ll be planning out chapters and polishing the last 15 I’ve written, because to be completely honest, they were utter s***.
Thanks for reading!
The next chapter will be up on Friday the 13th… huh…

A Goblin's Blade (dropped)
He looked down the path, which was littered with many things. Things he found in abundance were such of violence, desire and gore while things he found in scarcity were such of love, friendship and glory. At the start of the path was a naive, green goblin while at the end of it... Well at the end of it stood him: the godslayer, the monster from the forest, the walking death... He had many names but none so that perfectly captured his image as well as the Mad King. Authors note: Edit: Trying to release a chapter per day, around 2-2.5k words each. An evolution story about a goblin. This is under lit-rpg but I'm focusing more on the plot/characters instead of the usual features of such stories such as the blue tables that take ages to make or the stat screens. In essence it's closer to high fantasy than lit-rpg. Much appreciated if you read the Prologue to see whether you like it or not. Cover image is "Evolution" taken from art done by WhoAmI01

UPDATES TUES/THURS after chapter 5 Cover art by Tumblr User: @pigeon-princess This book features characters that are related to in many ways to my other novel "Grimoire". While both stories are their own stand alone series, Sun God's Corruption will add a good amount of depth to Grimoire, and Grimoire shows the unfoldings of the world that will eventually come from the events in Sun God's Corruption. I reccomend reading them both interchangably.

[Schedule is currently a bit borked due to poor health, looking to finish up the first section of this book by the end of the year then back to a regular schedule in January] This is a kitchen sink space opera. It originated off me lamenting the lack of witches in space and has spiraled out of control from there.
