Hazard Lands Revenge
Chapter 9 – Mildr City
Author’s Notes – Sorry I’ve been inactive, have been studying for Finals and the Typhoon here is hitting hard, so there wasn’t any internet or electricity. Also, if my character descriptions are sometimes off, please tell me, I can’t remember anything about how I described them before…
Also, for those who really like consistency in stories, I edited the merit system in Chapter 7 to make it more in tune with the story and my descriptions ie. later stages are much more op. Thanks for akitobdb for telling me the imbalance.
Any similarities between this novel with the real world, other fiction and events are purely coincidental.
Enjoy!

Crimson eyes slowly began to open, as Nik regained his consciousness. The nerve-wracking pain from before was gone now, replaced by a numb feeling. The boy looked around the room, finding outmost darkness, yet instead of feeling blind and lost, it was as if the room was as bright as day. His eyes pierced through the veil of the abyss and quickly examined everything.
The circle of runes on the floor, ashes floating in the air, the bloodied sheets tucked away in the corner, the medical supplies surrounding him, and even more miscellaneous objects.
“So, you’re awake now boy?” an insidious voice sounded out in his head.
“… You’re still here…” Nik replied, traces of caution permeated from him.
“Hahaha! Of course I am, why would I want to go back into that hellhole inside of your body?” the voice laughed, echoing out inside of Nik’s head.
“So, what do you want?” straight to the point, the boy asked.
“Just let me live inside of you, I doubt I’d be able to break this damn seal those stupid magicians put on you before. Just give it time, hehehe…” the voice’s anticipation was quite obvious.
“Seal?” Nik asked as he furrowed his eyebrows.
“That circle on your chest. Don’t even try to take it off; it’s stuck inside of you. Unless of course you want to cut open a hole into yourself,” the voice explained disdainfully.
“Hmm… so, who, or what are you?” another question sounded off.
“Boy, you have too many questions. Well, you can’t help it I guess. Anyways, I am Limperus, Overlord of the Abyss,” he introduced himself proudly.
“The Abyss?” once again, Nik sounded a question.
“You have too many questions! That’s enough for today. If you truly want to find out, go do some research yourself. I’m going back to sleep, so don’t disturb me,” the voice said impatiently. As he did so, the strange presence inside of Nik’s head slowly began to diminished, and soon disappeared.
“Limperus… Abyss… Blood Rain… Demons… How do they all connect?” curiosity still heavily clouded Nik’s mind.
Before he could find an answer however, steps began to echo out. Alarmed, the boy quickly looked around to find that through the glass in his room are five individuals rushing towards him.
“Nik!” a cute voice echoed out, like the songs of angels. Before Nik could react, a flying body charged at him.
“Nik! Nik! Nik!” Jasmine called out repeatedly, tears in her eyes. Most men would stare in jealousy as she hugged the boy, but Hudsonn could only smile happily. Both of them had view Nik as one of their friends, but having had experienced many disasters together, the three grew closer and closer. Hudsonn sees Nik as a blood-sworn brother he could work together with and Jasmine sees Nik as a little brother who needs protecting.

“You guys… aren’t…” he couldn’t get the words out of his mouth. Nik still remembers his actions that day. He had easily run away from the two of them and the other soldiers in order to save himself. Guilt clogged up his throat.
Jasmine and Hudsonn looked at him with forgiving eyes, as if they knew what he was thinking. “Don’t worry about it,” Jasmine’s sweet voice soothed the guilty boy.
“How are you guys…?” he couldn’t speak his words, as he truly had believed that the two of them had died that day. Now he finds out that in less than a day, the two he had thought died were fit as a fiddle.
“Why are you surprised about them? With some medication and our advanced technology, healing their broken bones and muscles would not be difficult. The true unbelievable one here is you,” an elderly man approached his bedside, standing beside Hudsonn, who towered over him by a foot.
“What do you mean Colonel?” Nik asked, confusion once again riddled his face.
“How long do you think it’s been since you fought that Stage Four?” the Colonel asked.
“A few days?” he guessed. How else would he have healed to this extent without time?
“A few hours,” the Colonel replied, his eyes filled with both respect and fear.
“A few… Wait, how is that possible? Has the World Nations’ technology advanced that greatly?” shock was plastered over Nik’s face.
“Indeed, we have advanced our medicine so far that living to 300 years is quite easily with some surgeries and medications. Heck, we can even mend broken bones and ripped flesh easily. But your organs had been crushed and pierced thoroughly, including your heart, your spine was snapped, and even your skull was fragmented to pieces along with all your other bones. It would take over a month to fix all these problems with our current technology and techniques. You took approximately ten hours to heal what would have taken us much more,” the Colonel would have been convinced that what he had said was false, but he had seen the boy rapidly regenerating before.
“Hehe, you truly are unbelievable,” a golden eyed man laughed, while a nurse next to him sighed.
The one truly stunned however, was Nik. A look of understanding came over his face as he probed his consciousness to look at the thing inside of his head. The Colonel, having had noticed his look, looked grim.
“Well, for now, we can’t waste time. We have to leave before the teleportation system runs out of energy,” he quickly stated, “Nik, can you stand?”
The boy nodded, as he forced his body up. Jasmine put her arms around him and supported Nik’s tired frame.
The company of six walked down the lonely hallway, which was devoid of life. Before, it was very lively, as soldiers and doctors ran around, gathering their belongings and any supplies. Now that most of them had teleported away from the Shelter, it felt quite dreary with the empty echoing walls, the wails of wrathful beasts outside, even the dripping of blood.
Not before long, they had arrived to the main hub, where a few soldiers kept around doing their own businesses. Salutes floated into the air as most of them saw the Colonel, and then soon went back down.

“Garret! We’re leaving,” the Colonel’s voice ordered succinctly. Just as he did so, loud footsteps echoed out in the hub as a large man ran towards them. Glasses were donned upon his brown eyes, his white lab coat wrapped around him tightly as his muscles bulged.
Putting aside his strangeness, the group began to follow him, as he guided them towards the raised platform in the center of the hub. Various wires and other gimmicks surrounded the area, which radiated a dim blue light. Following the man’s guidance, Nik and his group, and other soldiers stood in the middle of the blue platform.
Obvious anticipation was in their eyes, as the company of men and women waited to be teleported. Many of the soldiers had heard of Mildr City before, which had housed the backbone of the World Nations’ army. Rumors constantly spread about the strength and honor the soldiers there have, and how respected they were inside the city, which was designed solely to provide for them. It was, however, very difficult to enter the city, as aside from natural born citizens and soldiers recruited into the main branch of the military, others would be heartlessly driven out.
But now, this collection of people will be joining them, along with the others who have teleported in a similar fashion before.
As they imagined their fates inside one of the most famous and secure cities in the World Nations, the blue light surrounding the platform began to brighten quickly. From a dim aura into an astonishingly bright shine, the light continued to get stronger, and as it did, a feeling of distortion slowly haunted the soldiers. It was almost unbearable, but before the soldiers could collapse from the dizziness setting upon them, the light flashed and soon vanished completely, along with the soldiers it had enveloped.
--* Mildr City, World Nations’ Central Army Base *--
From one of the dozens of platforms inside of the spacious building, a dazzling light began to shine. Within the span of a few seconds, the light quickly dimmed, to reveal several soldiers, who were in the brink of vomiting. Green faced and spiral eyed, the group clumsily walked forward, some couldn’t hold their bearing and proceeded to spew forth green mush.
“Hahaha! I told you guys the Platform would lose its stability on the hundredth use,” a soldier standing in front of the platform laughed. Beside him were many other soldiers who couldn’t hold themselves from laughing at the misfortune of their peers. It could be seen as forced however, as some could only smile weakly. Though the soldiers wanted to laugh for the sake of the joke and cheer, they could not afford to forget that they had just lost their Headquarters.
The Colonel and Lieutenant Colonel only sighed, as they tried to urge their stomach to calm. They knew as well the consequences that they have brought upon their soldiers by abandoning their Headquarters. It was as if a hammer had physically struck their morale, as they had felt that they just lost a home. In addition to this, they had also lost many of their brothers and sisters to the beasts who invaded. The Brigade had truly view each other as family, so how could they bear this punishment.
Before the atmosphere could fully set however, the soldier who had laughed earlier swallowed his feelings and informed the two men leading the group from the platform, “Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel, I have been tasked to inform you two to meet with the General and the other officers inside the Hall. You two are to go there immediately.”
The three saluted each other, as the soldier had finished his announcement. James quickly looked back at the three new recruits, “You three, Garret with be your guide for now. If you have any questions ask him. We’ll be back shortly,” he ordered them. After he did so, he and the Colonel quickly walked towards one of the doors leading outside of the building.
“Well, you guys ready?” Garret asked Nik and his friends, though he sighed just as he looked at them. Hudsonn was at the corner, vomiting up whatever he had eaten prior, while Jasmine lied on the floor, unmoving. Nik was the only one who could stand straight, though his face was very pale.
“Hah… Alright, I’ll wait until you guys recover. When you do, I’ll show you your rooms, the services provided then we’ll get to see your aptitudes for Mysticism.
“Isn’t that reserved for Private First Class?” Nik questioned, his eyes suspicious.
“Indeed, it was supposed to, but along with the reports I was given by my Vice about the city, he told me that all recruits, no matter what rank are to be checked for Mystic aptitude. Guess they want to amass a group of Mystics against the monsters outside quickly,” the burly man explained.
“Your Vice?” Jasmine had already stood up from her dazed position and was approaching the two conversing men, albeit very slowly.
“Did the Colonel not explain? Hah… Fine, I’m Garret, the Head of the Technological Science Division, nice to meet ya,” Garret introduced himself casually. The faces of the two recruits were priceless, as they stared at the giant man in from of them, unbelieving.

The creator of the Primordial Evolution Scripture, Jing Guanyu! The Primordial Emperor! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The inspiration for Book (brackets say roughly what I got inspiration from) Do note: I do completely copy anything from any books. All of this book is original and all the books mentioned below are simply inspiration that gave me the ideas in regards to whats in the brackets. It may seem similar (like with MW I also use the E-E-D cultivation but my definitions and cultivation realms are different from the inspirations) > Martial World (Cultivation Paths) > Lord Xue Ying (Non-Generic Plot) > Stellar Transformations (Unique Cultivation Technique) > Consuming Earth, Devouring Skies (Character Development) > Ancient Godly Monarch + Invincible (Martial Spirits + Own touch to this idea) > The Storm King + Lament of the Fallen (The Soul Realm/Soul Domain) -------------------------------------------------------------------- Final words: Ok, I will just say that there are several reasons why the MC's cultivation speed is so mediocre despite how "talented" he is. There are logical reasons and they will be explained when necessary. Just remember that cultivation speed isn't everything. Hope you enjoy. I will take constructive feedback and logical criticism. However, I will not even reply to illogical criticism, rants or salty people who got pissed off because the main character didn't get "that divine medicine" or "this divine sword" or whatever. Note: I have marked all 4 of the content warning boxes due to a uncertainty in how dark, gory, descriptive or traumatizing my story will get. Btw, the cover isn't my property but was gotten from a website on mythology (greek I think). IF they ask me to take it down, then I shall. IF NOT, then IDGAF. LOL
