At Cafeteria, International high school of London, England.
At Cafeteria, International high school of London, England.
"As a fellow dude from Bangkok. No offense, alright? Is it true that most Americans are overweight?"
The blonde girl chuckled.
"Well, do you think I'm overweight?"
She opened her arms, showing her slim figure. Even though she's wearing a student uniform, it could still be seen clearly that she's not.
" Hey, Not you. I'm asking for a big picture."
" So you're admitting I'm in good shape?"
"Go ask anyone else."
" Oh come on,[Syd]. You know the only person I can get an honest opinion of is you."
"You're...normal...I guess.Or maybe... you are now in London.Not...New York?"
"How's that relevant?"
"Because you are not in America right now. Ah, I see. So this is the result of not living in America for 2 years."
Syd pointed out to Jody's shape.
"What makes you think like that?"
"Come on bruh. Everybody in the rest of the world knows. You Americans eat cheese like typhoon and drink coke like you drink water. Just look how easy you can get to Macca's ...I don't know, like 2 blocks from your house?"
"That's... unarguable."
The American girl agreed with his point, sipping a Starbuck.
"And notice that most of them are white."
"White? hey,that's not true."
"I don't know. When talked about America, the first image that comes in my mind is white people."
The boy continued,
"-and speaking of white people you know what's the most frustrating thing about these cracka?"
"What?"
"They allergic to everything."
"......."
"I see white people go in a bubble tea shop and say some dumb shit to a manager like (*Mocking white teenage girl's voice*) 'I'm lactose intolerance.Do you have ah' - Bitch, please. Why so weak? bruh."
" Aren't you like... White?" Jody asked.
"I'm born in Australia. My father is Aussie. but My mom is Thai. And I consider myself as Thai. I don't wanna be one of your kind.Ew,No.no."
The waitress approached their table with a Credit card in his hand.
"Thank you for your visiting. I hope you both will come back again"
Jody took her card and put it back in a purse.
" I'll pay you later." Syd said.
" Why you asked when you always do that."
" Hey, At least I pay you back."
He was right anyway.
The 2 left the Cafeteria and were now on their way back to the classroom, but... as they passed the hallway.
They paused.
Because someone was standing. She was blocking them from going.
This girl has pink hair with green layers. Black lips, Black thick eyelashes so as the makeup on the face.
This young girl is around their ages. But she seemed to lack confidence when facing them.
" Hey... Did this girl...?"
" Yeah. She did."
Without asking, Jody lifted her finger and pointed toward the girl.
On her finger appeared an air spinning around it like a tiny tornado.
It is called "Air Bullet"
" Heh...this bitch."
The boy said with an intensive voice, especially the last word.
He also leaked the Red Aura out of his body.
" Jody Johansan! Syd Barrett!.... Please listen to what I got to say! "
said the pink hair girl.
In the morning at the Coffee shop around the school.
A woman with blonde hair was sitting alone on the familiar table. One hand held a coffee, another on the iPhone, surfing the internet.
This is Jody Johansan.
Also known as "Killer Queen".
She is quite a celebrity in the school and among the ability users.
Firstly, She is good looking. Secondly, She is a sharp-silent-cool-girl who looks capable of dominating someone.
And most important, her ability to manipulate the air.
It is deadly.
Jody's widely known habit was she does not like to socialize with people...A lone wolf would be a perfect word to fit someone like her.
It has been acknowledged that whoever dares to challenge her into a fight will mostly face an absolute defeat when Jody pulled out her "Gun".
People called it "A pistol with an invisible bullet".
School life is pretty boring for Jody. Every day is the same... It's true as they said..."Things become boring and easy as you've reached the top of the pyramid".
After finished her coffee, Jody looked at the wristwatch.
8:45 A.M.
"The class starts at 9..."
Better left this place.
Jody raised, picked up her bag. Then proceeded to get off the chair.
However...Jody paused as something fell on the floor.
it's a pastry fork from the person who sat behind her table. He must have dropped it.
"...."
The boy slowly picked it up because he's considering on something else on his phone.
In fact,he didn't even look. Just randomly moving his hand on the ground until he caught it.
Without knowing that all these processes were blocking her. So she paused and waited for him to finish his business.
While that, Jody analyzed this boy.
He has brown hair but a bit of blonde in the front, wearing the same school uniform.
But she never saw him before.
Soon... She will learn that he is Syd Barrett. A boy that will change her life forever.
Seeing that it took him TOO long to pick the fork up.
" Ahem."
Jody did fake a cough, staring coldly at him.
"?"
The boy turned around, stared at her. Jody stared back at him in stone-cold, leaked her blue aura to show him who is the boss.
If it was the other students she had encountered, they would have scared shitless.
But not with this person.
There was no reaction from the boy that he's afraid of her.On the other hand, His eyes were saying to her "What? you got a problem, bitch?"
He picked the fork, turning around like nothing happened. No... it was more like he thought a quarrel with her would be a waste of time.
Seeing at least he's now out of her way, plus she's not a bully. Jody then walked passing him.
9 A.M.
The bell rang.
Everyone in the class is preparing for the 2nd semester of the 2nd year of this highschool, included Jody.
Actually, She was supposed to be in the 3rd year. But because of the studying-abroad reason. She moved to study in London when she was in the 2nd year in America (previous high school), which made the school (This recent one) forced her to go through the 1st year all over again.
Jody is also number 1 in studying. Her grades are always on the top since she had moved here.
In the class, Jody sat alone in the back.
Usually, the smart kid used to be placed to sit in the front but Jody refused and chose to swap with a kid in the back of the class.

Because she hated being a focus.
Not for long since the bell stopped, The teacher walked in.
As he came in, he is followed by a new male student.
"! "
Jody was surprised as she recognized his face. This was the same person she met at the coffee shop this morning.
As expected, The class started chatting in excitement.
Especially the girls, they're astonished by the appearance. On the opposite of the boy, which is intimidated.
" Wow, he's pretty cute though."
" Cute? more like... a bad boy type to me... umm..." the girl bit her lips.
" Dangerous... I like it."
" Yeah, Sarah's right."
" hm? What is it, Jody?"
The girl in front of Jody turns back.
" This guy... I saw him in the morning. Didn't think that he'll be in our class."
said Jody.
" As if you ever remember names, Jody" The girl laughs.
Jody didn't reply.
" But ain't this a little bit weird? I mean, If he is a transferred student, why wouldn't he be like in class C or D? Like..? This class is class A. The best class"
Asked the girl around there.
" Yeah ... you got a point. Or... His parents must be so rich that they can pay the school to send him to this class? or he's really talented man?"
her friend added.
The teacher made an announcement.
" *Cough* Everyone. From today-" He smiles,
"-we have a new friend who is a transferred student and will join us this year. He will start living with us until the end of the 2nd semester."
The teacher turned to the boy.
" Please introduce yourself to the class."
(Uhh... Boring... what a pattern... I've seen so many of this situation)
Jody thought
" My name is Syd Barrett. double R, double T. I'm half Asian."
" That's it?"
" Yes, Teacher. No matter how much I say it. They won't listen if they don't want to. If they wanna know me, they'll come and ask me themselves. just know that my name is Syd that's enough."
" Okay... if you say so..."
" So, Syd, where do you want to sit?"
" .... um... actually I can go with anywhere but the front row isn't bad."
" Don't you want to sit next to Jody? so that the class will be equally paired and Jody won't study alone."
" I'm not a picky guy. mister. But she looks like she doesn't want anyone to go near her... so I better not bother."
said the boy.
Without being aware, This word from him made Jody felt offended.
This guy must have realized that he's in the same class as the girl with whom he's almost going to stir trouble.
" sssssshhhhiiiiittttt....."
Syd heard the boys in the class was swearing in low voice, it's as if he had done something that was forbidden in here.
However,he didn't care.
" But... It seems like the front row is full. So I have no choice..."
Syd then took his table and chair and then he walked to the back of the classroom.
He then proceeded to set up his place on the opposite side of Jody.
She's on the left side of the room ,near the window, while He's on the right, near the exit door.
" I'm fine here," Syd said.
" Alright... "
The teacher scratched his head.
" So Syd, do they inform you that there will be a pretest on the first day of the semester?"
" Wha-?!... "
Although Syd looked shocked, he could keep his cool and pretended he's not surprised. No one noticed but Jody.
She grinned.
" Oh... yeah... they probably told me but I forget ... Maybe A jet lag had messed up my head" Syd told the teacher.
" Alright. To summarize, it is just a pretest to make you know what rank you are and where you should improve yourself. It won't affect your grade and Syd... it is because you are a transfer student, So you have no GPA. But would you like to join and see what ranks you are on? "
" hm, I'll better pass."
" You're afraid?"
"...."
No one expects Jody to talk. No... actually, No one expects that a person like Jody will care about this new student. But it happened.
Because Jody just asked him out of sudden.
" !!!! "
The whole class was now focusing on those 2.
" ......What?..."
" I'm asking you, Syd Barrett. In case you didn't catch it, I'll repeat it. I'm asking. Are you afraid?"
" Uh..No?" He replied, " I just don't want to."
" At least you should give it a try, you know? " Jody glared at him,
"This is the best class in the 2nd year. So I believe that you must be very talented that they send you here. I just want to see how good you are."
It may seem like a normal conversation but deep down, everyone knew it's not.
It's a challenge. Jody was threatening him.
" Shit... she's really mad that this new guy talked bad about her! "
The students start to whisper to each other.
Jody and Syd stared at each other for a moment, like they know the actual point of the conversation.
The boy grinned.
" Ok. If you say so. Then I should give it a try."
While they are on the test.
One could tell.
Syd Barrett was having a hard time on his paper.
He's scratching his head.
The test they are having has 5 subjects.
1. English grammar.
2. Mathematics
3. Chemistry
4. Physics
5. Literature
" what the fuck this mean...Shakespeare, you high? "
Jody could not help but grin in satisfy when she heard his complaint.
Thanks to her ability to control the air movement. So she can hear the vibration in the air better than a normal person. In other words, Jody has a wider hearing than the average person.
She hears people whispering better and clearer than others, or any other sound which is hard to detect, Jody can hear them.
( So in the end, you are just a kid with rich parents.)
She thought.
finally, the time's up.
The teacher collects the answer sheets.
" The result will be announced in the evening as usual."
For a day, the only friend in Jody's row was Syd Barrett.
And now he's napping.
For an entire day.
Really...? Is it jet lag? he didn't get like 1 or 2 free days before coming here? When I first traveled here from America I had 2 free days in England to adapt myself to the time zone...
However, it doesn't matter. What Jody wanted to do was to teach this man a lesson not to fool with her.
She had encountered so many people like this before.
This evening he will know that who's above who.

Dark Matter
In the year 2023, scientists investigating the nature of dark matter caused a blackout throughout the entire world of Coranth. With this blackout came the appearance of supernatural and near-magical elemental abilities able to be wielded by all. By harnessing the dark matter in the environment, even ordinary humans now accessed powers that would have been deemed fantasy. These abilities include Wind, Fire, Lightning, Water, and Terra, being the five natural elements of which dark matter is absorbed by the planet itself. Additionally, the two moons orbiting Coranth offer the "Superior" elements of Dark and Light. The year is now 2041, and Dark Matter will follow the story of an adolescent boy named Raiden Sullivan in a dystopian future, 16 years old, eldest of 2, and son to Marcus Sullivan. Raiden is an intelligent young man belonging to a poor family with an absentee mother. He partakes in daily chores to cover living expenses after school and his home life is surrounded by his caring father and younger sister. In truth, this is my take on urban fantasy with slight LitRPG that keeps the "magic" elements somewhat scientific for a more realistic story. In using the dark matter surrounding our universe, humans can now harness elemental abilities as well as absorb dark matter from the beasts/monsters to further strengthen their abilities. For the most part, that'll be the main premise of the power system. Full transparency, this will be the first story I write and also the first story I publish, so please be patient with me. For some context, I'm an avid reader and after 4 or so years of only consuming, I feel that it might be time to try my hand at writing instead. Please feel free to add your opinions and criticism, it would be much appreciated. With that said, I hope you enjoy Dark Matter!

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
