《Harmony: An Assassins Tale》Chapter 46: Intention

As we went towards the portal room of the flugre dimension, we waved Juni,Hazen, and Trine goodbye while we were leaving. As we left, Hui seemed a bit worried. "You really think we are enough for this?" and I nodded. "Of course! I myself am at the level of Hazen, if not, stronger. You may as well be as strong as Juni. There is no need to bring in more people, as it will only slow us down. I myself would like to do this solo, but alas , I know I will need your support, especially if we are to follow my plan." and she nodded. As we went through the portal, the traffic line was a bit different than usual. From the beginning of our travel towards Heaven, I noticed that there were several 'cars' travelling towards Heaven, which would mean that the Reapers and Angels both are getting reinforcements from others. The dragons still seemed neutral, but I could feel their presence on the battlefield.
"I'm scared. This is my first time going out, to actually fight against others. What if I fight against my own kinsmen? I don't want to do that." and she seemed cuter now, before she was giving me those death stares. We managed to get to Heaven unscathed, but from there the Heavenly Guards first had to check our identities. "Mhmm, mhmm... hmmm..... ... ... okay you guys are the real deal. You may come in, but beware there is a war currently going on. If you can, we would like if you are able to support us." I nodded, thanking him for allowing us safe passage to Heaven. I decided to stay above ground for a few minutes or so, while I asked Hui to go down to the middle hall, and proceed to Floor 3, where Raizel would most likely be. She nodded, plunging towards the hall, whereas I threw myself into the midst of the fight going on. It seemed like the angel's were losing , so, to help them out, and give out my presence, I converted Yagrik into 5 Mini-Yartsdra's , and started piercing through the Reaper's . It seemed like I gave myself away , just like I wanted. Jennifer, who was revived , looked down, and I smiled and waved. "Hello there. I'll be spoiling Raizel's plans now, goodbye." and she seemed to be full of anger. I ran.

I managed to catch up with Hui , who was just about to descend to the third floor. "This place is very... religious." she said, as we were going down the staircase. When we went to the third floor, I saw a man lieing on the ground, with a dissected eyeball on the table, and a finger missing. When Hui noticed the eyeball, I pranked her by twitching it, and she puked lots. After finishing, she punched me, saying, "I..I'll get you for that, you meanie." and she just stomped her way towards the final elevator, the one which had Raizel waiting for us below. We then opened the door and descended down towards the 3rd floor.
There I saw him and Trinity gazing at a shining orb, which they called Kagayaku Kyu which made sense, in a way. After that, I decided to continue watching them. All of the sudden, the light dimmed, and everything was dark and ominous, and it seemed that Raizel was blank, because his eyes were empty. Than, after about a minute or so, the light from Kagayaku Kyu came back, brighter than ever, and Diablo's eyes returned to normal. He then , seemed puzzled for a while, and Trinity asked what happened, and he dictated most of it. In my position, I couldn't hear them nor was I able to see his lips move, but I did hear a few words like, "Kami" so I guessed that the orb had something to do with God. After that, he seemed to understand what all that was about, and decided to head back up, knowing that his mission was a success, so I decided it was time for us to jump in.
"Yo! What's up?" I said, and he seemed thorougly confused , but he seemed happy all the same time. "It's you, Johnny? And why are you with a Harpy. No matter, may you do me a favor and move aside? I have some business to attend to." I didn't budge an inch, however, as I knew what he was going to do. But, apparently , the same thing that happened before and this time I was dragged into it.

My, my. It has been quite a while, hasn't it, Kami~Sama?
Yes, it has been, long time. Are you prepared as well?
The 800th KiJi? Yes, I've been prepared, and so has my body, what about you, Kami~Sama?
Mine too, is almost complete.
I see, he must have listened to our wishes.
Yes he has, sadly, our meeting must end here, for now, atleast.
Why of course, Kami~Sama.
This is what I had heard. It took me a while to comprehend what I just heard, but Raizel didn't understand it all , but he ignored the point, which was vital, as I already understood what was about to happen, I just didn't know what KiJi was, because I haven't heard that word in any of the languages I've heard of. Anyhow, as he started talking his nonsense again, I took it as a key opportunity, and I attacked him, landing a strike at his face. I learned the truth behind it all.
"The Truth has been revealed Raizel, I understand now, would you still like to continue this? I'm ready whenever." and he showed a small smirk , and charged at me, and I flinched , for a mere milisecond, which was enough for him to get a strike on me. This play of events continued for about 3 or 4 times, until we were accustomed to the surprise attacks, and were pointless. This time, however, Trinity came, and attacked me, and she landed a hit with her dagger. It didn't go that deep to puncture my skin, but it hurt nonetheless. Hui did the same, shooting Raizel, and, the arrow simply deflected off his skin. "It seem's our coleagues can't help us , let us do this one on one than, and they will brawl it out alone." and he agreed to do this as well. I told Hui she had to take care of Trinity, ie the girl, but also I warned her about the fact that she can create illusions, so she must be cautious. Hui took note of that, unlike Someone .
~~~~~
I felt a sharp jolt of pain while training with Juni, which allowed her to manage another shot on me. "Someone insulted you again? Man, I'm starting to feel bad for you, Hazen. " and we continued our training.
~~~~~~
Hui started off strong, shooting barrages of arrows at Trinity, and changing it's tip in mere seconds, to favour her positon. Although she wasn't nearly as strong as Juni was, she was a well enough replacement for her. I myself was distracted from their fight that I didn't notice ours, and as a result Raizel tried to take a hit on me, after putting the shining orb onto the pedestal once again. I managed to dodge his hit, and go for the counterattack, and managed to put a dent in his defense. "Well done, Johnny." he said to me, and If I realized anything , it was that this fight was going to be a two part fight, and that it was just going to get more and more serious.

Nero Zero
Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables. It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia. All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer. What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals. ------------------------------------------------ All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead. Lightweight where it can be, heavy where it must. Thanks for reading. Cover Credits (The cover is CC-BY-NC-SA): Steampunk Spider Bracer, by Daniel Proulx. A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.
