A drop of water to an ant must seem like a pool of water being dumped on you huh?
There was a green txt that floated above the new dungeon.
The dungeon is inactive until player contact. I didn't want to get bit by ants. A strategy was what I needed and luckily I had all day.
The first was to test the range of the dungeon.
I reached out my finger and slowly inched closer too the anthill.
Welcome adventurer
It rang out in my head in a monotone voice.
Completion of this dungeon will be decided by anthill destruction. Anthill had a fifty percent chance to reset too original form upon dungeon completion.
That wasn't the information I wanted. How do I acquire the sick loot?
In games, you could farm loot by repeating the dungeon.
If the ants were the monsters then I just had to lure the modified ants out of the dungeon and slay them.
I guess the system creates safe zones based on the dungeon.
I headed inside to grab out some jelly beans to aggro the monsters out of the dungeon.
This could go really good or really bad I thought to myself. Weren't ants ridiculously strong for there size?
With my jelly bean trap set up, I sat close enough to activate the dungeon.
Nothing happened.
I needed a new strategy, I dragged the jelly bean along the ground towards me for the ants to follow from the anthill.
Soon enough out came an ant that looked noticeably bigger than a normal ant.
Where its stinger was supposed to be was hollow. It looked like a bug that had a truck bed installed.
As soon as it got close I brought down the stick I was holding on its head.
+1 exp scavenger ant killed

No wonder it didn't have a stinger it was a non-combat type. So the dungeon instance not only replicated monsters but community as well.
This was getting interesting I thought too myself. Within thirty seconds another ant that looked exactly the same came out and followed the jelly trail to its demise.
I got exp again but no loot, come to think of it I only got loot when I completed the dungeon.
Maybe this time would be different I thought to myself as a slightly larger scavenger ant came out. This one took two hits to kill although it was pretty much gone after one.
No extra XP for the bigger and one that's a scam I thought to myself.
There were no ants that came out for a minute. Maybe the boss is gonna come out now. And ill have to dual wield my sticks.
I was having a lot of fun, almost more fun than when I went on raids with my clan.
Speaking of raids this time when the ants came out there was two of them and one had a stinger.
I waited for my moment to strike *blam* with a large swing of my stick the stinger ant had been smashed but not before he stung the stick.
It was kind scary his stinger didn't look poisonous but there was a little needle mark on my stick.
That was downright scary even though it was just a stick I decided to take this seriously.
I smashed down on the scavenger ant and KOd him.
+6 exp, random stat point assigned
I got a random stat point I wonder what it went too. I had no idea but I was gonna complete this dungeon before anything scarier came out.
I turned on the hose and washed away the hive only to briefly glance an ant with red patterns. Standing next to a large ant that was laying on its back.

Good thing I ended it that ant looked scary almost like it was a berserker or a magician class. It must have been the strongest in the hill.
Dungeon Completed
Rewards
+10 exp, Ant carcass t-shirt
Woah I actually got a cool Item this time.
Instance Dungeon has been reset to a normal anthill
It really did reset to how it was before, I could see small ants running around on the top so I knew it did.
A shirt appeared above my head and with a flash, it fell down into my hands.
It felt like it was about as heavy as a hoodie.
It must be armor I thought to myself as I instantly put it on. I tried slashing myself in the chest with my fingernail. It didn't feel like armor because I got scratched.
Oh well, It must do something lets try this I flicked myself.
It absorbs impact because I didn't feel anything!
I flicked myself with two fingers and it only blocked one of the impacts.
So that was the extent of it, huh, but this excited me, I could generate items from nothing as long as I was strong enough.
I decided that the next day I would try and make a dungeon that was mostly friendly and couldn't grow or reproduce so I could grind sweet loot at all times.

A Fractal Divide
Lesivar is a city in ascendancy. With recent innovations in magical crafting, the common people are experiencing a boom in comfort and wealth. The nobility, long used to being the stewards of knowledge and power, struggle to adapt to the new world in which they find themselves. A precarious balance has been maintained throughout, but forces stir beneath the surface threatening to send the city spiraling into chaos. This is my first attempt at writing anything longer than a short story, and I welcome any feedback or corrections. I'm posting this as I write, with each chapter going live upon completion. My current pace is about a chapter a day, which I expect to take my through the end of November. From there, I'm shooting for a chapter every two-three days until the book is completed, along with an editing pass of what is already up. I'm planning on three POV characters with unique insight into the story as it unfolds. Each chapter will contain only one POV. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
