Day 6
Zombies killed: 7
I was awake, so it should be day again, but it was dark: thick ceramic rested over me and dirt under, no light able to enter Morgaine and mine’s shelter.
“...Bro?”
I was hungry, thirsty and my muscles were hurt inside that cramped space, but still didn’t want to move.
“...What?”
“We have to get out. We can’t just wait here forever.”
“Why? We won’t succeed anyway, it’s impossible.”
“Bro?”, I felt Morgaine’s shoulders and elbows and, then, her breath, when she turned to face me while I still stared the smelly ceramic beyond the darkness over me. “What are you talking bout? You did the math, you know that it’s possible!”
“What, kill tens of thousands of enemies?! What an absurd… All I did was make hollow assumptions with superficial knowledge. Again and again… I thought that I was better than the people in the town, but in the end, I’m just like them.”
“Anyone would have done the same, bro.”
“And that’s the worst part of it”, I almost smiled: how did our species survive for so long?
“You… You may have been wrong, but not completely! Even I can stay here the entire day naming people that killed way more of their opponents than just 70.000!”
“Yeah, but usually they had armies under their commands”, wait, wasn’t a bit strange to find inspiration in these cursed names in first place?
“But their targets were intelligent and fast human beings!”, it was a good point. “Failing is as important as succeeding, anyway, right?”, I… thought she was right with that too.
Then, I felt my twin sister’s face pressing against my chest, her hands grabbing my uniform and rumpling it.

“So, forgive me, okay? This time I won’t think just about complicated equipment and let pass good ideas; I’ll even fortify our new base, so… Don’t let me behind. Though I’m such a stupid, though I’m responsible for all of this...”
Shit, I was in the wrong, why were Morgaine blaming herself? I didn’t like that. I didn’t want to see her sad. She just managed to make me feel less useless!
I reached for her hand and head before replying:
“...Sis?”
“...What?”
“We have to get out. We can’t just wait here forever.”
“Forget what I had just said: you should go alone. I’ll just hold you back.”
“Sis? What are you talking about? You just said how we can do much better this time! And you remember when you talked about the slingshot? I think that it would be a great tool too!”
“…But we lost all of our things now, right? It was just meaningless impossible bullshit that you listen to everyone talking all the time.”
“Yeah, everyone does this, but everyone can do better too!”, I felt Morgaine’s face letting my chest. I couldn’t see her face, but, somehow, I could tell she was looking into my eyes thru the darkness. I was about to conclude my speech, but I got a bit embarrassed… Hell, what was I being shy about? I had already lost my coolness while depressed just then: “Let’s just ‘fucking research’. Understand what it’s still nebulous to us so we can make things better!”
