《Phantom Transgression》Chapter 10

Camshron now wanted to find out omitted data. If data wasn't fatal for the killer, then there was no need of erasing it. Erasing of data from the main desk meant destruction of data in embassy Intranet as well.
He looked at paper parchment in his pocket and it was the greatest relief for him. It was a letter from Afghanistan and now he was sure it belonged to deleted information. The letter said about absence of Haq in his concerned works. More likely to a complaint letter it was to be posted in embassy (and it was) but did not reach in Mr. Morris's hands. He found Haq was absent in Afghanistan Prison (where a US prisoner was captivated) from 12th to 30th May. He knew nobody had yet discovered about Haq's absence because the letter had not gone beyond Haq's cabinet.
Camshron thought- Was Haq a wrong person? If not, there is no reason for them letter to come here. Where did he go if he was not there in prison for US captive?
Van gave a bump. Now the van stopped, and they were in front of MPD building. He then got out of van and walked fast to the building. He had a grip on the letter and was now going towards Mr. Meredink's room. When he got in then Mr. Meredink was busy on his cell phone. He waited for the moment when call got hanged and said, "We got something. It's a database of Haq's works, but some events are erased.""Erased!" exclaimed Mr. Meredink.
"But there is a letter- a complaint letter. It's about Haq's absence in Afghanistan."
Camshron took out the letter out of his pocket and showed it to him. "Date is 19th May. It falls under erased data."

"So where did Haq go, leaving his client there?"
"Wherever he had gone must be a place where he shouldn’t have been to." Camshron showed the CD to Mr. Morris and said, "This needs to be sent in CIA."
Mr. Morris held it softly and heard him saying, "I have contacted to Langley. Eyes shall be kept in the embassy. I suspect that killer sometimes comes to the embassy. He got a chance and erased the data-"
"Well, you said omitted before this, didn't you?" Morris interrupted.
"Yes, the data is omitted, better to say. An unknown system for hiding data was used."
"So why he did it?"
"Deleting, it would have been a better option. Shortcut keys and done."
Camshron got surprised. Why didn’t killer delete whole data? It would have been a much better option for him. Why would he get risk by removing, by just removing little information?
"Sir, I presume the killer was in a hurry. Perhaps not the exact killer, but also can be second person."
Camshron continued, "Okay, I got it. The man was in a rush and wanted to delete it for good but thought it would be better to confirm data he was going to delete. He opened it. But due to some reasons he didn’t get time to delete whole folder, so he deleted some information in the database."
"So any suspect?"
This was a critical question determining the direction of case. He said, "Only one person…"
"May I know?" Mr. Morris raised his eyebrows.

CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE AGENCY,
LANGLEY, VIRGINIA,
"I never expected the record to be clueless." bellowed Mr. Fernsby clubbed Mr. Cook's desk.
"Isn't it a nasty one?" Said Mr. Cook by checking properties of video. "It is deleted as Nathan had told us."

"Any more thing?"
"Just a few things are available. I was given access code and searched on intranet there. The worst news is that what we needed was deleted from there as well."
"There might be preparation details, aren’t there?"
"There is some. It's from 1st January to till now."
"Only those!" Mr. Fernsby exclaimed in frustration.
There came a knock on the door. Fernsby told, "Come in." and Camshron entered inside the room. He was in Langley for a week because he was informed something from there. Then he came to Langley in the middle of the case.
"Sir, it's more than a week. Our spies had put many CCTV cameras there and I think the result might have come." said Camshron.
Mr. Cook looked at Fernsby and then played recorded videos. Camera was put everywhere and a list of many videos was shown on the monitor. Camshron said, "Culprit has even reached in Ambassador's room. He has a high reach in embassy as well. Please look at the videos of reception or anyone worker's room."
A minute later, the whole week's record was fast forwarded in the reception.
"For me, everyone is the culprit." Mr. Cook said in a rough way- Camshron and Fernsby neglected it as well for another time. Camshron pointed to Mr. Morris' cabinet and said, "Check it here."
What they found out was a man who had been continuously coming into his cabinet.
The voice tough to be heard because of some technical reason.
Even if they could hear the sound, it was impossible to understand. They discovered that the man had come there for many days.
Camshron gasped, "Pause!" when the man in footage looked at camera by mistake. "I have seen this man before. When I had gone there last week, then he was also there."
"Who is he?"
"Mr. Erick de Lorgé, a Frenchman. A worker from French Embassy." Camshron continued, "I think he had an argument with Mr. Morris for missed out paper stuff in the past."
"Missing papers!"
"Mr. Morris said about it to me. I presume this man needs to be watched."
"Not for more…"
"Okay then, I will find his house, grab him and ask him the reason of getting in Mr. Morris' cabinet. Something is wrong with him.""Do you have any basis?"
"Yes, Lately in MPD Mr. Meredink had told me something about Haq. He said the Frenchman had a case on Haq. I wonder if he is Lorgé or not." "Feel free to act but don’t feel liberated."
Camshron went out of the room and made a call to MPD, "Mr. Meredink, there's a Frenchman on Fire."
"Beg your pardon."
"Mr. Lorgé is found to be appearing in Embassy of Afghanistan quiet regularly these days."
"No, there might be an error! He is in French embassy."
"Problem again." Camshron sighed ,"There's no reason for him to come in there and demand some shitty papers."
"What a mess?"
"You mean we should be following the Frenchman?"
"Yes. I think we should leave embassy's topic and Lorgé is wrong." "How can he be wrong?"
Camshron knew the answer, "Please don’t let anyone to leak about my location. I can't tell the reason on the phone."
"Then it's all right. I understand." and Camshron hanged the call.

The Blight
Ten years ago, the Blight appeared. A beautiful forest, where the leaves and animals glowed brilliantly at night. It became a wonder of the entire world, and people began venturing from across the continent to visit it. No one took it any more seriously than that, not in the beginning. Then the disappearances started. At first, it was just farm animals and pets. Then, hunters and travelers close to dusk. By the time children started disappearing from villages, it was too late to do anything. The Blight was spreading, from tree to tree like a sickness, crawling out in all directions. The animals and beasts inside it changed as well. They grew larger, stronger, and more ferocious than anything seen before. Simple farm animals became horrific monsters, distorted to disgusting proportions and violently spreading chaos out from the forest. When the first reports came in of infected animals dragging people alive off into the forest... then the real panic began. Towns fell to the Blight, then cities. Armies were sent to push it back, and were overrun. Heroes and legends ventured out, to no avail. Soon, it was public knowledge to all: Those who entered the forest, never returned. ...So what happens when a young boy comes out of the forest, carrying nothing but a dagger and remembering nothing but his own name?
