《MMORPG: Dual Cultivation Online》5. Deja vu

Ben chuckled and turned to pay attention to the dozen scrolls in front of him. "These are all probably some sort of quest reward right? He He"
Because of some weird coincidence, he had somehow managed to answer the alchemy master's question properly so without doing any quests he had reaped all the rewards!
Without wasting any further time, he immediately started picking up the scrolls one by one.
[Ding. You have learned a new cultivation technique]

[Ding. You have learned a new cultivation technique]
…
…
…
In total, there were about 1 Heaven rank, 5 Earth rank cultivation techniques, and 6 Mortal rank cultivation techniques. Ben quickly used up all the scrolls and learned all of them.
However…
When he actually tried using something…
[Ding. Unable to use the technique; Physique not suitable]

As every single technique became useless and greyed out, Ben's face turned unsightly. "You have got to be kidding me." He gnashed his teeth in frustration.
He had obtained so many techniques without lifting a finger using some sort of loophole, but what was the point? He was not able to use any of it!
"Damn it. What the fuck am I supposed to do with my shitty starting stats? Hmmm…" He rapped his fingers on the table, not knowing how to proceed with the damn game.
Of course, he never expected it to be easy. Otherwise, everyone playing this would become millionaires but this seemed to be a dead-end without any path in sight.
He simply did not know what to do anymore. He could not use the lowest grade mortal rank technique to cultivate as he did not meet the criteria even for that.

So what the hell was he supposed to do now?
Ben sighed and flipped open his system interface.
He looked at his list of techniques that were only for show. He ran his eyes over each of them again and again, absentmindedly pondering what to do.
After several minutes of procrastination, suddenly he started to notice something weird. He didn't know why but everything felt oddly familiar.
The different cultivation techniques… when he read their description… for some reason, he got a deja vu feeling.
"Hmmm?" Ben perked up and sat straight.
He read the techniques in detail again and then decided to focus only on the first one which was also the highest rank cultivation technique he currently had access to.
[White Lotus technique: Sit in a lotus position and breathe in and out, drinking the spirit qi of the heavens; Absorbs 10 Qi per minute]
He read this single description a few times. There was really nothing complicated about it as it was just the initial Qi gathering stage.
However, for some reason, he had a hunch, a nagging thought. Unable to get it out of his head, he decided to see where this would take him.
He opened the door and immediately a white-robed person rushed to him. "Master, greetings."
I like this treatment. Ben chuckled inwardly and then cleared his throat. "Bring me someone who practices the white lotus cultivation technique."
"Ah! White Lotus technique!" The servant visibly gasped. "Master, only our Master Yue is blessed by heaven to be able to practice this technique."
"Oh." Ben nodded. "Then can you call her? Tell her I have something important to discuss with her."
He knew that this was a dangerous move, but he had to do something!
He was already late to the game, only managing to get his hands on the console after weeks of starting, and on top of that, he had a bad start.

So he had no other choice except to take risks.
The servant bowed and politely cupped his hands before scurrying away. A couple of minutes later, the beauty promptly arrived, once again standing in front of him.
This time her cheeks were flushed and she looked even more mesmerizing as if she had just stepped out of a piping hot bath.
"Master, greetings." She also bowed politely.
Ben closed his mouth, forced himself to keep a straight face. "Come in." He said indifferently.
The alchemy master Shen Yue noticed his serious tone and assumed that he was going to talk about something important, so she quickly walked in, closing the door behind her.
"Master." She bowed again.
Truth time! Ben controlled his nervousness and mumbled. "Sit down and cultivate your white lotus technique in front of me."
Huh? The beauty blinked her eyes staring at him, but the next second she bowed and nodded.
She then quietly sat down in a meditative pose and closed her eyes. Ben could only observe this much as he couldn't tell if she was practicing the technique or not.
She did seem to be breathing deeply, exhaling and inhaling in a calm and relaxed fashion.
He tried his best to notice anything else, maybe get a feel for this spirit qi but nothing worked at all. He was just not able to sense anything.
"Ah. Damn it. I thought I could learn something if I watched her cultivating using the technique." Ben sighed in disappointment.
But after a second, something changed. As he continued looking at her, he noticed something else unexpectedly.
When Shen Yue breathed in and out, there was a small knot forming, right below her neck and above her chest, and Ben could intuitively tell that such a knot should not exist.
"What the heck am I thinking? Why would I even know that?" He was confused. "Should I tell her something?"
"Fuck! What am I doing! I am going to get kicked out. Nope. I should just log out and read again. I am sure there is some post about my situation. I will search for more details."
Taking another look at the unsuspecting beauty, he summoned his system interface and then logged out.
Ben immediately tried to scour the internet for any information.
However, a trash constitution like his truly seemed to be hopeless and there was also no information available about his spiritual roots.
So in the end he simply dozed off in frustration.
He was still feeling very tired so he slept more than usual and once again, he started getting all sorts of bizarre dreams as if he was living the life of someone else.
The entire night quietly passed and when the next morning arrived…
Ben woke up with a jolt. He flashed his eyes open and stared at the blank wall in front of him with his eyes full of shock and disbelief.
He now understood everything!

The Sorcerer
This is a fanfiction based on Harry Potter, written by JK Rowling. BEFORE YOU LEAVE, as fan fiction isn't what royal road is known for unless your book is called Borne of Caution, hear me out. This is based 200 years into the future. Hogwarts will be very different, and besides some references, we will follow no characters from the book. In my opinion, this is more of a new, mature, and more realistic version of that universe. If we want to put an analogy to it, I'm borrowing the house, but it's my furniture and things on the inside. Synopsis - 200 years since the battle of Hogwarts. The muggles know - magic is no longer a secret. Wizards and witches show their magical traits much later in life now, their powers weaker than previous generations... and to make matters worse, there is a steady decline in the wizarding population. Follow along as Lux, a muggle-born, shows the world what one determined young wizard can do. Superior Era

That’s exactly the predicament Dario finds himself in and he’s thoroughly vexed by it. After all, what sort of sane person would want to miss out on sleep? A madman, that's who. Life is tough for an ostracized kid, but Dario quickly realizes that his wakeful nights are more blessing than curse, as there seems to be quite a few advantages in not having to sleep... Join Dario as he climbs the ranks of superhumans, uncovers hidden truths, travels the world, and discovers abilities he never before thought possible. This is a tale of superpowered/superhero-like individuals set in a dangerous fantasy world with hints of GameLit elements. Features MC with abilities deemed unique to the world and can disregard the need for sleep at no cost to himself. No Harems. Current Release Schedule: 3-5 chapters per week. (Slower updates for holiday season) First few chapters are fairly short, but the rest will average around 2.5k words.
