《Blaze》Chapter 13 - Fits My Style

As they approach the Greenspire gates, Serah spots Georgio and Rhett in the distance, arguing. Serah blushes. Oh, boys. There's no need to argue over me. There's enough to go around! She thinks, flattering herself. I better go break it up before things get weird. She thinks as she walks over to the two.

Rhett sees her approach, frowns, and immediately leaves. Serah's eyes widen as she nears Georgio. Did I do something wrong? She wonders, not sure of the situation.

Georgio seems to get flustered and attempts to reach for him. “Hey! Don't just walk away! We had a moment! I know you felt it too!” Georgio says as he follows after Rhett, brushing against Serah’s shoulder. Noticing her, he dismissively looks away, his attention once again on Rhett as he walks away.

Serah watches them leave, wide-eyed and surprised. What the fuck just happened? She wonders, her mind wandering into possible situations involving both Georgio and Rhett; unfortunately, she didn’t seem to be a part of it. Serah’s cheeks blush once again at the thought. If that happens… Oh my… Was I just a stepping stone for their love? She thinks with realization. Serah’s brows furrow, not sure if she was feeling angry or just bitter. Then, she just felt sadness. But what about my harem… She thinks, somewhat despondent.

Serah looks over to Shadow. “At least I still have you, kitty.” She thinks as she bends down to pet Shadow.

“Meooww!” The kitty calls out before her figure disappears, clearly showing her disapproval.

“Ah, kitty! What’s wrong? What did I do?” Serah calls out, but she was greeted with silence.

Serah sighs. Maybe I’ll see them in the city. Just gotta keep truckin’. This harem isn’t going to build itself. She thinks with misguided determination.

Throughout the journey, Serah saw battle a couple more times after the first bandits. Monsters and bandits seemed to be a common part of life in this world, which Serah wasn’t quite sure how to feel about. Is it even possible to travel without a caravan? She wonders, curious if it was something she could even attempt.

Throughout the battles, Serah took down some juicy enemies and was able to level up twice, earning her 8 more skill points. Currently she was pondering the best way to make money with these skill points as she ate a meal on the streets, from a stall in Greenspire.

Blacksmithing? No way! Too much work! Potion-Making? Maybe… But finding ingredients seems to be a hassle. Poison-Making? Same thing. Healing? That’s a definite maybe. I kind of want to be a hot priestess girl that men have forbidden thoughts for. Enchanting? That’s also a definite maybe. This one actually sounds fun. Hmmm… Impart magical abilities to items permanently. Can I finally have my flaming sword? Serah thinks as her eyes widen. That’s a definite plus. Okay! Enchanting here we go! She thinks with a smile as she confirms her decision.

As knowledge of the skill formulates in her mind, Serah’s eyes brighten! Damn! This is my kind of skill! It’s the lazy kind! She thinks, happy with her decision. Other than mana, what this skill required most was knowledge, and that was all included in the skill. All eight points of it! She thinks before letting out a loud laugh.

Serah rubs her hands together, thinking of how to squeeze the most of this as she could.

But unbeknownst to her, it wouldn’t be hard to make money with this skill, considering its rarity. This happened to be what was considered a lost art among modern civilization. If anything, this could bring disaster as easily as it could bring wealth.

The deity of war lets out an evil laugh. This is going to be funny. Should I just let her go through with it? Oh man, if this was anyone else I would wait until they were begging for my help. But unfortunately, this girl very much fits my style, and I’m very curious at how far she can go. She thinks, letting out a sigh. Fine. Just this once. But I get a freebie ‘look away and ignore’ if she asks for something I don’t want to do. She thinks before ringing Serah up.

“What?” Serah says, annoyed. She hasn’t heard phone sounds for a while, and she was getting quite used to not having the pervert deity around.

“Hey, babe. How are you? You doing okay down there? You need anything? Just tell mommy, she’ll take care of it.” The deity of war says, in her usual sleazy style.

“No, I don’t need anything. You can go now.” Serah says like a rebellious teen.

“Okay. That’s alright. You’ll learn to love me soon, babe. I’m sure of it. Anyways, just thought I’d give you a heads up. That skill you just learned is a lost art, and there are currently many people in the world who would kill to learn it, if you get my drift. I wouldn’t go advertising it if I were you.” The deity of war says in a well-meaning manner.

Serah’s eyes widen. “You mean I can’t make money from it!?” She thinks, shocked and disappointed.

“Unfortunately not, babe. Unless you can find someone who’s willing to both pay for the service and keep their mouth shut, I doubt it. You could maybe sell books of it, make it common knowledge, then sell the service.” The deity of war suggests.

“What!? I have to write a book!? No way!” Serah exclaims, refusing immediately.

The deity of war lets out a chuckle. “That’s my girl. Anyways, that’s all I had to say. Talk to you later.” The deity of war says, her voice disappearing.

Serah lets out an exasperated huff. “How am I supposed to make money now?” She asks, a little lost.
