Austin followed her command staring at the rank 3 beast core. Mark came down sensing powerful presence but didn’t say anything and followed them as well.

“A kid? The killers blood trail led you to a kid?” said The captain. ‘but how can a spirit beast lie.’ Vesta’s face twitched but before she could say any thing captain looked at Austin and said , “ confess everything you know about yesterday and don’t play smart.”

Austin turned back to only find his boss staring at him without an expression but he could guess that mad man was expecting some kind of show again. Besides Mark was Vesta and a cat who was now a 3 meter tall 5 meter large panther. ‘ so that’s a rank 3 .’ calming himself down Austin decided to try his luck and he copy pasted the story which he told Mark at first modifying it little stating his purpose to go there to meet Gordon and other minor details.

Looking at his small body and nobody suspected anything after all they had not seen the fight like Mark. But what surprised Austin was that Mark also supported him in his fake alibi.

“I can vouch of the later parts but officer just look at this kids frail body and innocent eyes he will die if someone just slaps him hardly do you really think he is the killer?” said Mark. Every one turned there head to Austin. Austin looked at them making his eyes look big, innocent and nervous which was a cherry on the cake. But deep down he was really nervous. ‘ I just hope that mad man doesn’t end up smirking again and blow the whole cover.’ Hopefully that didn’t happen and guards returned from where they came from.

“ sorry for disturbing you all, the killer also pulled a prank by inscribing demon cults mark on victim because of which we have been working since yesterday night you see..” said the captain.

Inside the building the alchemist immediately created some barriers and laughed while holding his stomach. Austin couldn’t help but shake his head. “Kid that was a stupid move, when a cultist kills some one specially from demons cult it’s never only one and the death is very nasty with curses all over the body and organs splattering every were. Next time consider that as well. Haha poor guards and that expression of yours” said Mark. Austin seriously nodded his head recording all information about cultists.

later at evening Austin bought another health potion from alchemist and was left with only 1 silver and 89 bronze . Remembering how his hard earned money was spent on testing all food stalls and cheep restaurants Austin didn’t regret any thing but he was sad about how fast he was losing his hard earned money.

With the health potion he went to Mr Gordon’s shop who was still working fine with some bruises here and there. “ you don’t look fine Mr Gordon. Are you sure you should be working like this? I heard the news from guards” said Austin.

“oh lad long time no see . These bruises are nothing I used to be a D grade adventurer at my old days haha . That thug and I were battling fiercely when that assassin came and killed him first I already got him but my kill was stolen.” said Gordon shamelessly.

Austin smiled at the cheerful old man “ I came here to give you this.” Austin passed the potion to old man and walked off before Gordon rejected it.

Remembering the time he spend with him since his childhood, when he gave Austin meadow grass and spent time talking with him bought a rare honest smile in his lips . old man smiled muttering to himself while looking at Austin’s back “you really returned me 10 folds lad ... Maybe more than that, only if Ada could see u like this” said Gordon with a warm and sad feeling flowing inside him .
