《sHe: THE BATTLE OF THE NEW BREED (BOOK 2)》Chapter 11

ROBERTA SAT in the bright side of a small lockup cell. She looked at her crestfallen wife Lilya in the dark corner in a tattered blouse that she wore. Her face and arms were bruised from the torture. A rag was bandaged onto her foot from the burns by the blowtorch.

After sixteen hours of trying to get the albino woman to confess; Roberta has no choice but to turn her in to the police ever since the snitch Kiki had made known to the CIA about the existence of 'Reeves Jensen' of being her kin, and of Lilya who was now too associated with the terrorist Aryans Sisterhood group.

Roberta wanted to get out of this mess clean for the sake of her career—that left her own wife to take the fall...

Roberta had repeated the same question for the hundredth time...

"Now tell me, where have the rebels taken Laura to? Where is this farm?"

"No," a soft snivelling voice came from the dark corner...

"Never!"

She wanted to protect the innocent people whom she cared for back in Mississippi from the brutal cop whom she was married to.

Roberta stood up from the wooden stool...

"You are gonna talk before the next level of pain that you are gonna endure is going to be more intense, bitch! I am warning you, you are going to die now if you don't tell me!"

Lilya began to sob even louder and she crawled to the far end of the wall. Roberta picked up the stool by its leg and stepped forward to bash her. Lilya curled into a ball—having one trembling hand covering her head and the other on her belly, to protect her unborn babies...

The menacing footsteps were nearing close to her sight towards her dark demise—Roberta's huge shadowy silhouette figure in the black leather jacket covered the glare of the ceiling lamp at the rear...

The cell door opened in the nick of time with two policewomen barged inside, pointing their guns that trained at Roberta. One of them was of her own; Sergeant Jakubowski who was in the Elite SWAT uniformed cried out...

"Drop it, Capt. Jensen!"

Roberta turned to glance at more cops coming in—and found Det. Capt. Bernie Palmer was approaching from behind them with her gun also drawn out. Roberta's hand was on her own weapon holster, and she cried out...

"Bernie, what is the meaning of this?"

"Stand down, Rob! Do what we say and don't make it any uglier than this—and get your hands off your pistol!"

Bernie had returned from LA hours earlier after assisting with the CIA's terrorist investigation. She discovered once back in Washington DC, Roberta has already arrested her own wife after hours of physically torturing her. Capt. Bernie Palmer immediately lodged a report with her superiors to inform about the situation—the mandated word came back that Roberta should be apprehended.

"She is my prisoner and I have the right to interrogate her in any way I want!" Roberta's hand was still on the gun holster. Det. Bernie Palmer thumbed the safety off her pistol and she responded...

"Then your wife will be the only one who will walk out of this cell alive as a widow—you decide that now, Rob!"

Roberta dropped the stool on the floor, still enraged and saw Bernie instructing the other policewoman...

"Davis, get an ambulance for Mrs Jensen—and Sergeant Jakubowski, you escort Capt. Jensen out from here, and take her gun away!"

Jakubowski touched Roberta's arm but was pushed away in spite while they both walked out of the lockup cell. Roberta glanced in disgust at half a dozen e-SWAT uniforms staring at her outside the door at their Commanding Officer—with their guns held out in their hands.

Bernie had setup a contingency team, using Roberta's very own elite force—in case things got out of hand to bringing the berserk super-cop down.

Roberta looked ahead at two Secret Service agents standing at the end of the hallway where she was escorted to. An agent opened a door and Roberta stepped into the interrogation room where Agent Wolfe sat alone. Even Wolfe looked at Roberta with an antipathy sigh, shaking her head subtly...

"Sit, Rob."

Wolfe took out a flat metal flask of whiskey from her suit jacket and placed in front of Roberta and threw a pack of cigarette to compliment it...

"We need to talk."

Wolfe got the pressing account from Bernie and she came over instantly to look into the imperative matter; since Roberta was under her wings in the 'big boys' club.'

Roberta drained the whiskey in a single go and palmed the metal flask on the table before she lit up a smoke while the Agent Wolfe spoke up, "am I right to say that since that God's Army got your sister—it is really clouding your judgement, and you know that too."

Roberta denied out loudly. "No Sir, I know what I am doing. I am holding a key witness in there to locating Laura; now let me go there and finish my job!"

Instead of getting the support, Roberta only heard deriding laughter from the visiting Agent Wolfe...

"Who? Lilya Devon? Yes, I have gone through the CIA files that Lilya was part of the Aryan some 5 or 6 years ago. Now, she is your wife of a few months—the same wedding I crashed into, do you remember that night? But beyond that..."

Roberta intervened to the prolix by punching hard on the metal table and stood...

"Beyond that, she is full of shitty lies and deceits!" She is covering her tracks for her Aryan members and I feel they have my sister, Laura! They have kidnapped my sister to get back at me somehow—and they will all pay soon!"

"Rob, calm down and sit..."

Agatha Wolfe spoke calmly in a paternal voice after lighting up her own cigarette. "There is a fine line of how we do things here—yes, you go out there blowing shemales' in the heads, that is your job and you are fucking paid for that. But to torture your wife, now that is not acceptable, son!

"That line is drawn there, Rob—hey, why you wanna ruin your reputation for?"

"Right now, I don't give a shit about any reputation—that woman over there is more of a criminal suspect to me than as a wife!" the pugnacious cop replied.

"Oh yeah, you are one tough cop, are you? You have beaten every part of her body except her belly—I know she is carrying your twins—so Rob, now listen here, buddy—this has gotta stop! You are not in the right frame of mind in further conducting this investigation—now step back, and let Det. Palmer takes over from you."

"No Sir, I know what I am doing!"

The haughty Roberta hollered in protest. "Once I break that cunting bitch—she will tell me the location and I can then go and find Laura—I am so close now in solving this than passing the buck now to Palmer; she knows jack-shit about Laura's abduction case that I am handling now!"

Wolfe got insolent now...

"You are far from close, you moron! Look at you—you are making some many bad choices and mistakes—how can a prominent cop like you go on TV and beg to the public for information and then offering a reward? What would people out there say then? And what will their level of confidence be in the enforcement department of the future where their best cops go begging on-air on National TV—and right now, even the fucking Internal Affairs are investigating on your $100,000 reward that you placed out there!"

"But that is my life savings!" She bitterly went on to justify.

"Yeah Rob, you have been a Lieutenant for 4 months and now a just a couple of months as a Captain—and yet you have saved aside a 100K as a regular cop back when you were in Columbus? Come on Rob, this is already your poor discreet judgment showing your carelessness—I don't care a fuck-shit where that money came from, and how much more you have—and I even told IA to back off for now!"

Agent Wolfe pulled out a paper from her suit pocket and dropped in on the table...

"This is the end of this conversation; here is a letter from your Head of Police—you will be relieved from your duties for a month..."

"What? No!" Roberta yelled back in retaliation after seeing the unforeseen paper.

"Take a break now Rob—and let the rest of Palmer's team handle the investigation. You will see things clearer when you get back later!" Wolfe replied back in washout while she started to walk to the door.

"Agent Wolfe, you can't do this to me. If I can't find Laura now—she will be dead in their hands!" Roberta beseeched loudly...

Before closing the door, Wolfe added firmly. "I am sorry Rob, that's how things go on from now on." Roberta grabbed the metal chair and slammed the table.

"You all don't understand. They have my sister! She will be dead soon! Dead! You hear me, Agent Wolfe, she will be dead soon!"
