《Son of the Eternal Eclipse》Chapter 16: Bright Room

It was an old house. The three of them waited outside with their weapons drawn. Tyra and Syren looked at each to see if the other was ready.
"It doesn't seem like it's going anywhere," Whisper said, "Perhaps, we should think this through."
Immediately after he said that, Syren kicked the door down. His impatience was getting to him. Tyra and Syren ran in ready to fight whatever was there in the darkness of this abandoned home.
Whisper shook his head. "You listened the the suggestion about stealing a teddy bear, but the one time I give good advice, I'm ignored."
As Whisper was about to enter the house, a wall of red lightning shot up from the floor electrocuting him. He cried a painful shriek as he was pushed back. He never expected something like this to happen. He looked down on the floor and saw some kind of runic markings. It was like the whole house was surrounded by a magic circle. He began to sweat in fear. It was like a prison made for demons. It didn't let any demonic beings escape, but at the same time, it didn't let any in. As Syren didn't care to notice where Whisper was, he kept going. And as he walked further away, Whisper began to get dragged forward. He collided with the barrier like a wall of lightning. He couldn't go forward, but the further that Syren was, the more harder he was being pushed against this shocking wall. He gritted his sharp fangs as electricity surged throughout his body. This whole place was a trap. A trap set specifically for Syren. Whatever planned this, studied Syren carefully to know his strengths and weaknesses. Whisper continued his futile struggle. He barely opened his mouth before the door closed in front of him. He couldn't even let out a scream to let Syren know that it was a trap. All he could do was make guttural noises as bolts of painful lightning coarse through his body.

As Syren and Tyra came closer, they noticed the pink mist around them. They wondered whether it was caused by the monster. They both knew that they stepped into the mouth of this creature's lair. Syren was impatient. Tyra was confident. A dangerous combination.
As their eyes adjusted to the darkness, they began to see a knight in strange armor looking at them from above. But before they could do anything, the whole room lit up with white lights. The floor, the walls, the ceiling, all of it. They all instantly turned into bright lights. Syren and Tyra both shut their eyes from the intense brightness. In that moment, a creature dashed past Syren and snatched his black tome straight from his hand. He gripped it tightly, but the creature was too strong for him. And not only that, but another tore the black choker straight off of Syren's neck. It felt as if it was actually his own skin being ripped apart. Both of those creatures crawled up shining pillars to the second floor where the black knight stood watch.
Syren opened his eyes and his shadow blade was gone. The whole room was lit up in bright lights. And they were surrounded by mages hidden in cowls alongside more of those many-eyed creatures. They pointed their arrows at Syren from above. There was no way out.
"It is an actual pleasure to meet you, Syren. I applaud your bravery in facing me up front. I am actually impressed that you would charge right in, and believe me when I say that I never compliment anyone other than myself," a man said in cracked black armor. He had red eyes hidden away behind the darkness of his visor. The cracks were filled in with gold. But Syren knew that he wasn't a man. He could tell that that was the demon they were looking for. A knight. However, the armor he wore was strange. It was some kind of armor found in the east. A samurai. It wasn't the armor that the soldiers wore, but he could have easily changed into different armor. What mattered was what was inside of that armor. Syren really believed that if he defeated this monster, then this town would return back to normal.

System Supervillain
I was there when it happened. When the walls of reality came crashing down upon us. When everything changed. I was there. I watched it happen. There wasn’t anything I could do, of course. When two veritable demigods are fighting to the death, getting caught in between is a great way to end up very dead. Or worse. That’s when it happened. Raw time crashed with pure paradox, and the universe itself screamed in torment. Night turned to day turned to yesterday and tomorrow and blue and yellow and whale and petunia, and then it snapped back, all at once, with a thunderous roar that was not heard but felt. And then I saw the blue box for the first time. ------------ A System Apocalypse event happens in a world of superheroes, like you would see in the comic books. What happens when the world changes, and heroes and villains are now bound by a System that limits their powers? What will change, and what will remain the same? This story will incorporate Champions/HERO System 5th Edition rules. There will be dice rolls determining the action, and blue boxes with lots of crunchy numbers. If you're not down for that, there are plenty of other stories on this site that you'll like. But if that sounds fun to you, then welcome aboard, and I invite you to see what happens when someone becomes a System Supervillain.

Release Schedule: Tuesdays & Fridays @ 10AM PST This work has cannon LGBT themes, characters, and situations but does not have explicit sexual content. Originally started in 2005 as a form of self-therapy writing has helped heal many of my wounds. The world grew until the concept of it being self-therapy did not contain it anymore. I scrapped what I had written to that point using it as an outline and started over, building it into a novel format. Containing stories of a diverse population and multiple lead characters each chapter centers on the perspective on the main character in the chapter. Blurb & Section Information Set five hundred years into Earth's future is this sci-fi political space opera. After a solar system fractured by conservative vs. liberal politics begins to settle, humanity is on the cusp of an amazing breakthrough in understanding the universe around them. Who knows what is out there? Part 1: Separation (10 Chapters) – The main players find themselves separated from the life they knew, unwittingly dragged into something larger. Part 2: Freedom (11 Chapters) – The first actions are taken, and choices are made that will impact the universe as a whole to drag it out of its state. Part 3: Knowledge (13 Chapters)
