《Son of the Eternal Eclipse》Chapter 15: To Find a Demon Soldier

Syren and Tyra left the building back onto the streets. There were plenty of akkedis and knights running around. The whole town was just a chaotic mess. But Syren was convinced that he could fix it. He figured that the masked knight that killed the mother and child was the demon he was looking for. He just couldn't believe that a sane person would actually commit such a crime.
"Good job, Syren," Tyra said sarcastically, "We have only just been in this town for an hour, and we made enemies with both the citizens and the military police."
Syren became unsure what to do. He knew that the akkedis didn't want his help. And he certainly didn't think that knights would just ignore what he did. He looked down depressed and Tyra tried to cheer him up.
"I'm fine. So, it didn't go exactly as planned, but at least we have an idea of who to look for. If we can find this demon disguised as a knight, we can show both sides that the fighting was all just a demonic plot. We just got to find some knight who just doesn't want to show his... face," Syren said as he looked at all of the soldiers around the town. All of them covered their faces. "It might be a little harder than I hoped, but a clue's a clue."
Tyra could tell that Syren was still uneasy. And as Syren spoke those words, Tyra was certain that things wouldn't be that easy.
She replied in a somber tone, "Syren, even if we find this demon and show both sides that it was responsible, it won't just cancel everything out. Even if they sit down and make peace today, it won't get rid of decades - maybe even centuries - of wrongdoings. If this demon didn't cause this, all of this would have eventually have happened. This whole place is a powder keg. All it takes is just one spark. I've seen other places just like it." She took a deep breath. "Syren, it's alright. You can't save everybody, and you're not responsible for everything bad that's happening in this world."

Syren just fell silent. He had no words. Even when Tyra said that he wasn't responsible, he still felt that it was his fault. The eclipse above his head was still there. As long as it was, he put the blame of everything on himself because of it. But Tyra's words did speak true. This world was ugly and malicious long before he was even born. Deep down, he knew that not everything was due to his own mistakes, but at the same time, he did. And those opposite feelings constantly tore him apart from the inside.
"I sense it!" Whisper shouted.
Syren jumped up in shock and Tyra was confused as to why.
"What's wrong, Syren? Was it something I said?" she exclaimed.
"Whisper, you sense where the demon is?" Syren asked.
"Sort of. This place is strange and murky, but I just needed one little chill to know where the demon is," Whisper said as he pointed to a strange, abandoned building, "It's in there. I can feel its presence like I did with Gula just before it was about to consume you whole."
Syren looked at Tyra with a smile. "Follow me," he said as he took her arm. She blushed as the two of them went off. Syren smiled, but he was just anxious to just get this whole ordeal over with. He just wanted this eternal eclipse to just fall.

Rise of the First Necromancer
Asrael Nessarat awakes on a sandy dune with a mouthful of sand and nothing but tattered rags in his posession. As the High Magus of the school of Necromancy, he once aspired to prove to the Emperor that magic still held a place in their society. But that day came, passed and inevitably accelerated his kind's downfall. Now; they are hunted, strung up and burned on pyres throughout the Empire by the Emperor's holy Inquisition- an efficient and ruthless army hell-bent on bleeding every last droplet of magic from the lands. With nothing but a mouthful of sand and tattered rags; Asrael is determined to seek the one thing his cold, still heart desires. Vengeance. This story can, at times, get very dark. It is not recommended for the faint of heart. This is not a story of an overtly powerful wizard who can pulverize his enemies from across the world, nor is it in any way, shape or form a joyous tale. We follow Asrael as he and his companions explore and seek to change an unjust world, where kindness and acceptance are exceptions, rather than the rule. If you are looking for a story to inspire hope or joy, this is not it. If you wish to read about likeable, heroic people, turn around. If you wish to see good battle evil, where the cut in between is clear, then this is not for you.

It Sucks Being a Side Character
Beat the bad guy, save the day, get the girl. These are the three steps of success every good Hero strives for. But for Lee, those three things are an impossible bucket list. For a side character, there's no beating the bad guy, there's no saving the day, and there's definitely no getting the girl!As a side character in a typical Shonen story, all that awaits Lee is loss, cliches, filler arcs, and a whole lot of cheering the protagonist along from the sidelines. Can Lee change his destiny in a group full of walking tropes? Or will he be stuck watching from the sidelines? Only one thing is for sure, it sucks being a side character!

Inside Metsys
Inside the universe of Metsys, life is chaotic, cruel and crazy. People with Stats have power and everyone wants to be a Player. Meet Corn, a slave who has no memory of most of his past and doesn’t know how most of the world functions. This doesn’t stop him from escaping the bonds of slavery by risking his life on a gamble. After all, he would risk everything for freedom and the right to be a mage. But how’s a scrub to learn Magic and get power? Why, join the magical under belly of the city, of course. And eat all the mana that he can get. Two Disclaimers: 1) This is a work of fiction. Any characters, places, organisations and everything else in this novel are fictional. Any resemblance between anything in this novel and the plane of reality we live in is purely coincidental. Was that a bit over the top and a wee bit unnecessary? Maybe. 2) This story features an antihero with a slight hint of villainy. So, sooner or later, it’s going to get dark. Very dark. Hence all the tags. If you are prone to be squeamish, this might not be for you. Well. You were warned. ;)
