Percy's POV
"How come?" I ask in a daze, I've never been asked to just swap out with Crest before.
"I don't mean fully shift don't worry...at the moment anyway, just let me talk to him" Chris responds in a convincing tone
"Alright, I can't promise anything though" Scratching the back of my head in nervousness...closing my eyes to drift into the back of my mind, 'Crest, swap'
'I'm interested to what he wants so I'll play along with this' Crest begrudgingly complies, causing our eyes to change into the blue every pack member is familiar with.
"Alright so that clears up the first thing" Chris remarks while sinking back in his chair, almost as if he's gotten the answer he wants from us.
"So what did you want?" I feel Crest's persona causing my shift in body language as he leans back against a wall
"Okay to start off with...what happened in the forest?" - Chris
"Rogue"
"Yeah no shit there was a rogue, but there weren't two like I told Percy and everyone else. You were the only one I spoke to in that moment" I listen in as I need to hear what happened that day, as well as understand why Chris told everyone something different?
"It was trying to kill us, so it died for it. What's more to it?" Seeing Chris be visibly startled at the cold tone from this wolf in my adorable body
"Didn't you notice anything off with the rogue?"
"It's blood tasted disgusting and stank like a rotten corpse. I believe while it was first approaching Percy it didn't have a consistent eye colour" Crest admits, finally opening up to Chris about the incident.
"Describe it?"
"It was flashing from blue to red, take what you want from that information but it certainly didn't take away from that delicious neck snap sound. Hmm yeah that was nice..." Feeling a grin form on his face as I see Chris writing down the notes, probably hoping to distract himself from the near moans coming from Crest's mouth.
"What do you think of Scarlet? I saw her wandering around late last night in that precise area"
"Never liked her, I hate short people and I hate the colour red" Referring to her scarlet red hair...wait I'm short. 'Dick' I comment at Crest's insult to us short kings and queens. 'Silence midget' causing me to shut up and admit defeat, crying in the depths of my mind.

"Now that I compare, your wolf form probably would be taller than Percy if you stood on your fat toes huh, small people problems I guess" Shrugging away at his proud tall physique.
"Weren't you talking about having nightmares?" Crest quickly reminds Chris causing him to shift in his seat.
"I keep seeing a figure, it's standing in the back of my dreams a height equal to the trees. It never turned around, almost unbothered by my existence, until today I saw it face me. The forest bending to it's unnatural presence and ground quaking with every step, unable to bear the burden of carrying it's full weight."
"Damn did Mr big beta get the spooks?" Crest mocks while bending down and taking the opportunity to touch my human knees in fascination, as we don't usually swap while in human form
"It's eyes weren't matching"
"What" A bewildered Crest pauses, unable to understand what he's being described
"It saw me for the first time, smirking in amusement. Then I woke up and found myself just holding you, thankfully waking up before that shit went on any longer."
"That's nice Chris, and as much as I like you, are we done here? Keep me updated with those dreams though, sounds like a good series to binge if I'm honest" Crest basically just deflects all of Chris' feelings, not caring for the man in front of him being upfront with his feelings
"What colour are your eyes, Crest?" Chris snaps back, catching Crest off guard
"You can see what they are, don't be dumb" He says while covering his eyes with his hands, trying to feel them there in disbelief of what Chris just asked
"I can see what they are but I'm asking if, You, know what they are"
"They're-" The door bursts open, interrupting and causing Crest to slam it back shut without remorse for whoever was behind it. "Piss off, we're in the middle of something" as he continues to insult the individual.
"Actually that was a friend of mine you might of just killed, but thanks. We'll get back to that later on if you don't mind Crest."
"Whatever" He forces me back into consciousness now having to face the repercussions of whoever this door just assassinated. "WHO!?" In came a marching Mercy, clearly not willing to give...mercy to me I smirk at my poor joke while in the face of death.

"It was me shutting it in your face, you came in like a gorilla so who can blame me for defending myself?" Chris takes the blame after running towards the door to act like it actually was him, saving my life
-
After sitting down with the 3 of us for a while, Mercy mentions to Chris "Oh, supposedly it was Minerva who moved the guards from the positioning that day of the attack." "That useless thing thinks she can order around my people?" Chris scrunches up his fist, trying to hide his anger and failing horribly. But who can blame him? She's unlikeable in everyway.
"She's the Luna, I think she's got at least half the say over the entire pack unfortunately, and the rest being up to the Alpha" I comment, only earning Chris' gaze as if I said something he already knew but just didn't want to hear..."Oops, well I'll see myself out I guess" taking the cue to leave back to my room.

Heading through the hallways I see Thomas wandering around aimlessly, even walking into walls with his eyes wide open like a fly trapped in a glass box. Slapping him on the back to gain his focus, breaking whatever daze he was in and causing his eyes to lock onto me... smiling and kneeling down to now look up at me. "Perse, you're coming with me to go do friend stuff" he cheerfully says while skipping along with me.
"You're not Thomas are you" I state from the obvious personality flip and nickname calling
"Nope, ya gonna guess?" he states with a cheerful look to his face. I was warned about Thomas' wolf, he's the exact opposite and socially awkward when it comes to dealing people...keeping up with this is hard.
"I know we haven't spoken in ages but do you mind passing it back to Thomas? I needed to ask him something or two" I plead, hoping to convince him and save myself from dealing with this complete personality change in my friend's body.
"Sure! Just promise me you'll speak to me next time Perse, it's been ages since we last had a conversation" Spinning to face me after pulling our hands together, as I watch the blue flush from his eyes.
"We're gonna pretend that didn't happen...shut up Percy" Thomas grabs my lips, shutting them by force with his hand. Knowing what I have to say about his broad figure quite literally twirling just now with quite the grace in his step.
"I'm visiting the Moonlit Sky pack later, you in? I was told to head there with 4 people of my choosing since they weren't able to send over a beta at the time to discuss what happened to you in the forest." Thomas explains, lighting a spring in my step as I've never gotten to experience a different pack's company.
"Since we're going there, can we head over to the rainmakers after that since I hear they're pretty close in territory? I promised Alex I'd visit some time" - Percy
"Who's Alex?" He turns his head to me as we continue walking towards the exit where the others are waiting for us I presume
"The beta for that pack, we quite literally bumped into each other" I say while acting out how it happened, bumping into Thomas' hard chest as a reference and causing him to laugh
"Damn don't fall for him, you still have your mate out there dude"
"I did in fact fall, partially anyway since he caught me"
"I meant emotionally you clueless rock" he pulls a lock of my hair to punish my obliviousness, which I agree I do deserve this time around.
Reaching the pack doors we see the other's we're travelling with, one of which being Yasmine which brings a smile to my face, remembering she healed me. I never did get to thank her did, I should get to that.

Tales of Ordinary, Completely Unremarkable Contractors
"Where life had no value, death, sometimes, had its price. That is why the mercenaries appeared." - Artur Xerxes, in A Century of Disappointment: Memoirs of a Travelling Dwarf It's never too difficult to land contracts for a set very specialised skills in a continent teeming with werewolves, vampires, giant leopards, undead and, god forbid, elves. The difficulty comes when these contractors find themselves suffocated in the dense atmosphere of this world's rigid - and mostly unfair - rules; death, suffering and misfortune await those unwilling to sacrifice to bend these in their favour. In this non-linear plot, you will observe a scarred and deformed farm girl cashing her first bounty posters, a seemingly ordinary barmaid at a tavern in the bustling centre of a sprawling, corrupt city and an enigmatic leader of a firm specialising in dealings any other would consider suicidal. Watch them all take everything to the next level at every available opportunity, and then feel dread at the thought that this still might not be enough to halt the physical embodiment of doom about to do what it does best Please, feel free to review and comment!
