《Moon Rabbit: Threaded Fate》Chapter 22: Who Forgot The Moon Rabbit?

It was another lecture and this time it was Professor Yang lecturing on Applied Calculus for Life Science. Needless to say, Chan Lee's head was trying to wrap around the subject as much as she could. It was one of the subjects that you had to pay careful attention to or else face problems in the future.

She had her notebook spread out, once again sitting in front—her head was spacing out. Taking a peek behind her, she noted Mei was sitting around the third row with some peers. Meanwhile Ning Bi and Bo Ling were actually rather far, she could only identify them with that cold beauty Ning Bi was emanating.

Hua Zhao was nowhere to be around.

He must have taken the chance to skip the class, Chan Lee noted before shaking her head. Concentrate!

It was a huge jumble of mess when the class came to an end, half-hearted pointers and hastily written down notes—and a lot of doodles.

She grimaced but gathered her things, her stomach grumbling for food. She wanted to eat lunch and take a nap. Perhaps she could head over to the library or the infirmary for that.

"Chan Lee~"

A sweet voice had Chan Lee turning to look at and smile at Mei, "Thanks for earlier." She owed it to the girl for being so incessant earlier.

"No worries, glad you feel better now. I guess it was related to your friend?" Mei asked with a bit of curiousness in her tone.

Chan Lee scratched her cheek, "I guess, but maybe I've been just stressed out lately..." Needless to say, Xue had been eye-catching but she needed to tone down the situation with Mei.

"You have to take care of yourself first," Her friend frowned with a disapproving tone. "How about we grab something to eat for lunch? I'll introduce you to a few of my club members." She motioned behind her. There were a small group who seemed to be waiting for Mei to finish talking with her, a couple of girls and guys. One of them stood so tall that it was actually intimidating.

"They, uh...look all so nice." As with Hua Zhao, Mei couldn't expect that she would get along with her friends right?

"Don't worry they're really nice, especially Xiaobo, he's got a big heart." Mei grinned.

Chan Lee raised a brow at the girl's grin. "Big huh?"

"What?" Mei blinked at her comment. "But how about it? It's a good way to make more friends." She smiled. "Have lunch with us?"

"Lunch?" Chan Lee blanked out.

Lunch. Lunch.

Food.

Hungry.

Xue…

"I forgot to give him—" She swallowed and looked at Mei. She didn't need her friend to know that Xue lived with her. Nobody really needed to know that. Hua Zhao was already a mess to deal with after discovering her home.

"Forgot what?" Mei tilted her head.

"Something important argh, I need to race back home." She grimaced. She was supposed to eat lunch with Mei and perhaps meet her friends. But instead she was worried about him again—it was all because she forgot to give him a key earlier.

Mei raised a brow. "Don't you have other classes after this lunch break?"

"I'll make it back for that." She bit her lip.

"I see…" Mei pouted, pushing up her glasses.

Chan Lee felt a bit guilty and bowed her head. "Please have a good lunch, I swear to make it up to you next time"

"No worries Chan Lee, it's fine." Mei responded with a kind smile. "I'll see you around~"

It had been another race back to her flat, her legs felt like jelly but she immediately scoured up the flight of five stairs. Her cheeks were flushed and her breathing heavy, "I'm so stupid." She chided herself, grabbing the key to her house in her pocket. She could already imagine the sight of a downcast Xue sitting outside her door, perhaps wondering when she would be back… it was heart-wrenching.

Alas, when Chan Lee made it to her floor, Xue was nowhere in sight. "Where is he?" She bit her lip and went down to the only place she could think. One level below hers, she knocked at the door.

"Hello welcome to—Chan Lee?" Han Jing looked at her with furrowed brows.

She managed a smile. "Um, hey."

"So what happened?" Han Jing immediately forgone the pleasantries.

"Where's Xue?" She hissed-whispered at him.

His gaze narrowed at her, whispering back. "Why are you looking for him with me? Wasn't he supposed to be with you and that Hua Zhao?"

"Han Jing, who's at the door? Oh, Chan Lee! It's so nice to see you~" A lovely woman popped at the door.

"Good afternoon Mrs. Han!" She greeted the woman with a smile.

"Good afternoon as well, you're home a bit earlier than usual. No classes?"

"Ah, I forgot something—I'm a bit forgetful." Chan Lee laughed. "Er, scatterbrained."

"Have you been eating? Come join us for a meal first." Mrs. Han offered with a bright smile.

"I really have to get back to the university immediately, thank you for the welcome though. And I see little Jinjing is here."

It was easy to notice a little girl sprawled on the couch.

Mrs. Han sighed. "Ah, she's got a fever you see."

"Or she's taking after her Big Brother, right brat?" Han Jing snorted.

"Ew, no!" Han Jinjing shuddered.

Chan Lee bit back a smile, the household of Han Jing was always a noisy one. It was a fun place compared to hers… but now she had Xue. So she had to find him. "I have to get going, can I borrow Han Jing for a sec?"

"Borrow him all day, dear." Mrs. Han laughed, turning to her son. "Han Jing, brush your hair before you leave the house, or change your shirt at least—"

Han Jing shut the door in front Chan Lee. In a couple of moments he went out and closed the door behind him, "What can I do this time to serve you, princess?" He muttered with a grumble. "I was peacefully playing a while ago you know?"

"I-I… We need to look for him, he's sure to be around here somewhere."

"How'd he get back here?"

"Zhao offered to take him back...but I forgot to give him the keys to my house. I do hope Xue doesn't try heading back to university—I was hoping he'd come to you." Chan Lee mumbled.

"What?" He slapped a hand over his face. "You trusted that Zhao would take him back?!"

Chan Lee frowned, not liking the outburst. "Of course who else could have—"

"Sure, he seems to have helped you out before—but he could have his own agendas too, you know?" Han Jing shook his head. "Especially with how special Xue could potentially be, who knows if they've whisked him off to somewhere to pound medicines."

Chan Lee felt her insides grow icy. "No, he couldn't do that." Even if that Hua Zhao had been annoying, pushy… He had saved her. She shook her head. "I don't think he's that kind of person—"

"Chan Lee, not everyone has good intentions—and even if they did have good intentions, it could be marred with greed or some other agenda." Han Jing rubbed his forehead. "He may have initially wanted to help you deal with a small time ghost or evil spirit, but Xue is something like getting a special edition character in a hidden event. Everybody will want him."

"I don't get what you're trying to say!" Chan Lee shouted before clutching her head. "I just want to know where Xue—"

Han Jing sighed and grabbed her shoulders. "But you know, maybe I'm just overthinking it?" He stared at her face. "Come on, don't start getting teary eyed like a big baby. We'll go look for him—or I'll look for him. You're supposed to head back to your uni, right?"

"But what if Hua Zhao really did take Xue someplace else?" She asked quietly.

"Then I'll go kick his butt."

"Really?" She raised a brow. Imagining Han Jing trying to attack a swordsman like Hua Zhao. It was a silly sight.

"Yeah, he doesn't know who I am—I'm Han Jing," Han Jing puffed his chest. "Emperor of the Mortal Realm, Defender of Humanity."

Chan Lee felt her lips twitch a bit. "What are you blabbering about now? I'm not getting your references at all."

"Come on, let me have my moment—geez, let's go look for him now." Han Jing grumbled. "Actually, wouldn't it be good to see Hua Zhao..." He paused and shook his head. "Nevermind, I want to be there when you see him, I don't really like him for some reason."

"Maybe Xue just thought about going back to the university." Chan Lee rubbed her nose. "Perhaps we're all just overreacting, right?"

Han Jing smiled a bit. "Then that'll be a good thing, now let's go find him, alright?"

Chan Lee nodded and the two of them split up to find the missing Xue.
