《Debts Come Due!》Day-40 Once more, into the breach.

"Look at the view and think that at some point in the near future you can kick the dirt bag, the one that ran off and left you for dead in that nightmare, right in the gonads. You are about to start the rest of your life and by all accounts it is going to be a successful one." Teamasa said to Neka while they were sitting in an alcove on the side of the cavern that was the groups fall back position.
They were anchoring spells into the stone and pointing them down and out. The idea was that trying to take the entrance would lead everyone that came forwards into a kill corridor. A place where they could hold off an army with a handful of people. That was what Neka had been lead to believe at any rate. She was just happy to learn something new and apply her first custom curse to the defenses.
It would drain mana to fuel the spells already there. So long as they were willing to throw mages at the problem to get the entrance open then her spells would keep draining the mana away from them until they dried up and turned to ash. The best part was that they would also drain the mana from non mages but far slower. She had basically made it so trying to take this little cavern was a constant fight, up hill, for the entire stretch of the journey.
"You do of course remember that you helped to make that nightmare right. Not to guilt trip you or anything but you are kind of responsible for that as well." Neka said with a grin on her face. She was having fun messing with her new mistress of the arcane arts. Though it was important to remember that Tea had given herself that title and not some body of authority.

She said it and threw little fires at anyone that disagreed with her. Neka's new teacher was a little bit of a tyrant when it came to getting her way. She did what ever she wanted to and only really listened to Sasha. Sure she took the advice of the rest of her little group and played with the wolf pups quite a bit but she only truly listened to the lady she sometimes called boss.
Why she only really listened to her was anyone's guess because she would follow directions from anyone else but if she thought they were stupid she would laugh in your face and tell you exactly that. Neka had been told off more then once during the first days of her training. The worst part was that her grand idea had all been thought up before and failed so terribly that some had magical accords based around the idea of never letting it happen again. That had been one large blow to her ego, that was for sure!
"You did kind of break into that madness filled death trap so really could you even blame us if you wanted to. And I mean reasonably blame us for it, not just point fingers or the like. If you can feel free to push me off the ledge." Teamasa said while holding out her hands in a come at me motion.
She sometimes did this and for once Neka decided to take her up on the offer. She pushed the girl off the ledge knowing full well that she would never have come up here without a dozen charms and wards to protect her from everything she could think of. When she had first seen the woman get crushed under a ton of rocks she had been horrified but when she learned it had been a prank on the necromancer's fault she had just been pissed.

"I can fly, bet you did not know that I could fly." Teamasa said while swimming through the air like it was water. If you looked at her face or just knew her personality then you would know that she had just wanted to try out the float spell she had learned yesterday. If Neka did not push her off the the crazy lady would probably have just jumped for the fun of it.
"Teach me that, it looks like it is a lot of fun. Also with it you would never have to walk again. Could life get any better then that?" Neka said making her opinion on things like walking places very well known. This had become kind of a running gag between them.
After a while longer of working on the enchantments they decided that a job had been done well. No one was going to take their empty cave from them that was for sure. Hell at this point just having so much in defending it would lead some fool of a treasure hunter to trying and taking it to see what was hidden inside. Boy would anyone that survived the onslaught be disappointed to find nothing but a bunch of magicked up sand in the shape of chairs and tables.
"What other curses are you thinking about making. Something really bad I would imagine." Tea said, when she asked questions like this it was rather clear that they were not questions but statements that her student was ment to answer. She expected something good and was not disappointed.
"I was thinking about a curse that makes the blood in someone's body rot. Even healers have a hard time treating rotting blood and the like so if I can get a curse to cover a wide area and only apply a little of the blood rot then it could handicaps an entire army without them being aware of it or even having a chance to be able to stop it." Neka said knowing full well that this would spark the interest of her teacher and compel her to try and figure out how it could be done.
It was not long until they descended into a long discussion about how to make it happen. They wanted to figure out where the starting point would be. Without a good starting point a curse would never stick to the victims. It could not grab hold and would instead disappear after a short time like standing water on a hot day. Sure the amount could slow its disappearance but it would still blow away with the wind.
The sound of two mages talking shop was impressive but the sound of them figuring out the best way to cause mass death was an altogether different beast. Anyone that heard what they were saying and how it was being said would find them creepy.
Not as bad as a couple of witches mind you but still not the type of people that you would want to invite over for dinner. Or maybe the exact type of people you would invite over so they did not show up unannounced and rather insulted. They were defiantly not the type of people you would want to insult, that was for sure.

Leaves of Terranthir
DISCONTINUED - I won't be writing more of this fiction. Check out the latest post for a worlbuilding summary / final thoughts. Leaves of Terranthir is a gamelit blend of ARPG, action, fantasy, and slice of life. It's inspired in part by some of my favourite games, borrowing in themes, sense of exploration, and aesthetics from the Soulsborne and soulslike genre, mixed heavily with arpg itemization from Diablo/PoE style games. While many may remember their Soulslike experiences as nothing more than suffering, I personally loved the sense of progression, to prevail over challenges and monsters that seemed impossible to defeat at first. If any of that seems interesting to you, do check out the first chapter and let me know what you think. Cheers, and thanks for reading. Cover by Baconstrap.

Journey Towards Dao
What is infinite, possessing no beginning nor end? What is imperceptible, appearing both indistinct yet intelligible? What is indecipherable, unable to be interpreted or understood? What is quintessential, unfathomable, eternal? What is Dao? The main focus of this story is detailed cultivation, professions, and combat systems. It's a slice-of-life with a cultivation system that delves into psychological aspects (including minor psychopathic/sociopathic elements). Protagonist is the low-key sort. Be prepared for a slower start. This is my first ever experience writing fiction. I'm trying my best to put out quality content initially, but my main goal is to improve. Comments, ratings, and reviews are greatly appreciated!
