"So there is a small army at our door. It looks like they want to raid us for treasure by the way." Cassy said to Sasha and her group after seeing what was outside.
She had sent some of her people out to scout the unusual movement. What they had returned with was the news of about five hundred people of varying classes getting ready for a raid on the new dungeon before it could get up to stuff. Well at least they thought it was yet to get up to stuff. They had no idea how prepared the place had already gotten and how dangerous a raid could be.
It was clear that most were inexperienced with raiding a dungeon and may have just been brought along as cannon fodder to push through the defenses instead of losing someone valuable to the traps. While a cruel way to go about things it did tend to keep the ones that employed it alive so at least there was that. Worst came to worse, all you had to do was kill some poor fool who was already beaten half to death and take the treasure from them.
"Yeah, I was wondering when they would come for us. We did not make it a secret that we had more gold then we should. Probably came back to bite us in the ass is all." Smithy said after some thought about the army that was at their door.
Really it could have been for any reason, even revenge on them for carving out a place in the underworld. It did not really matter why they were here after all. Just that they were and now they would have to do something about it. Best to move the conversation along and get ready for the siege that was coming. He also did not want the question of how much gold they had stashed away coming up for obvious reasons. At least one of the assassins had some way of telling if they were being lied to and he did not want to get caught in such a big one so early.

"We head out in about thirty minutes, is that OK with everyone." The leader said making sure that it was know he really was not asking a question.
He did not want anyone getting cold feet right now and taking his army away from him before he headed into a dungeon made by a team that took down a hellhound. They were already quickly becoming known for over planning everything that came their way and punching well above their weight class. The man may not be the smartest around be he knew not to fight them in confined corridor when they had enough time to prepare for him.
If this did not go well he was going to just take his team and leave. No sense in dying for nothing and no profit. Mashana was no ones fool. He was a business man and that was all this was. A minor investment into getting a lot of gold for very little work, if to many survived the attack and managed to take the gold then they could split it amongst themselves and keep it. It would not be worth it to win the battle and then be riped apart by is own army now would it. Beside that he will then be the man that made them all richer by far, you do not bite the hand that feeds afterall.
"Scouts and rogues go in first. Rogues will look for traps and the like while the scouts cover them from a little ways back. Do this right and we all go home richer, fuck it up and a lot of people are going to die for no reason so watch yourselves out there. If you come across anything that is to much to handle then do not throw your lives away for nothing." One way or another he was going to try and pull some profit out of this. Even the attempt would earn him a lot of gold if it could get far enough inside.

"All these people have the magic amulets so we will know how far they get inside. All else fails we can just sale the info to the right buyers and make a tidy profit. Send a copy to the adventures guild and say we did some scouting before hand if nothing else." His sorcerer said to him.
"Good then get ready for the charge and lets get this show on the road."
"CHARGE!" He bellowed as loud as he could.
On they went, the smart ones stayed in the back so that they would not be swollowed by the first traps going off. Those he made a note of for if they made it out. Someone would pay well for the rights to recruit them when it was all over. He was not one to turn down free money after all.
Inside the dungeon the team had made a little space for watching what happens on the floors above them. They had a little betting pool going on how people would die and what was going to happen next. Some of the assassins were in on it. They were betting on who was going to get the first kill among the lower ranks. Smart money was on a young woman who had a tendency to use throwing knives. She was know for cutting the tendons from a distance and immobilizing her pray before going in for the kill.
High money was on a young Dragonborn who loved to breath fire and burn large groups alive. He was always known for taking on group contracts among the guild for that very reason.
"I got fifteen gold on the girl taking the first kill and the lad for taking the first group kill, what do you say." Smithy said to his friend Tess.
"I say a trap gets them first. They are going to wait for a trap to spring and hit them when everyone is confused by it." He responded. He was throwing seven gold into the hat for that bet.
"I think one of them is going to wander face first into a zombie horde and get eaten." Tea decided after a moment to study the odds. She was playing long odds and having a good time of it. Ten gold was not all that much to her but at a hundred to one odds it could pay out bigtime in her favor.
"No influencing them by taking control of the undead now. We do not want anyone cheating here and messing up all the future betting pools we can have." Cassy said with a smile. She was enjoying this as much as everyone. They did not really feel bad about all those people dying because they were here to invade their new home. It was arguably self defense, though admittedly those laws were never designed for an army being at your door.
Things were just getting interesting that was for sure.

Adventures of the Goldthirst Company
Get the quest, kill the monsters, grab the loot, don't die. How hard can adventuring be? When the party is a fashionista wizard who'd rather stare at her reflection than dirty herself with actual combat, a thief that picks locks by ripping them apart, a paladin trying to do the right thing, and an archer that's better at talking to plants than people, then even a simple quest can prove a challenge. Hired for a variety of tasks, from retreiving the legendary Dragon's Veil to bodyguarding the wealthy, thwarting apocalyptic prophecies, or uncovering not-so-abandoned elven ruins, the problems in their way may well prove their undoing; lonesome medusas, sticky-fingered psychopomps, agressively passive golems and fearsomely violent geography stand in their way, as well as the minor issue of simply not actually trusting, or even liking, each other! Releases twice weekly, generally Tuesday and Friday (Art by Sin Soppitt)

It's the story of Nikolaï, his struggles, his hopes, his journey ... in a word his life. A small WARNING from Ben: English is not my native language. I'm pretty confident in my ability to read it and understand it but there is a big gap between that and being able to properly write. My grammar being already "not so great" in my own language it makes sense to not expect a flawless one in another one. I'm getting better at it and invite readers to suggest any changes on the matter but if it's a deal-breaker for you you should pass or come back at a later date.Possibly in the future, I will look for someone to help me but if you read those world it's not the case yet.
