《The Mysteries of the Dungeon》Chapter 5: Biodiversity

Time passes by as the Lesser Earth Rock Elementals made some progress on the excavation of the dungeon core room.
Dungeon Map [×] - 3×4 meters
Allen then opens up the dungeon map tab within the dungeon interface.
A semi-realistic 3D rendition hologram of the details layouts of the dungeon in which Allen Walter commands. Besides the 3d hologram, there are statistics and charts which showed the facts and details figures of the dungeon itself.
Floor 1 Food Chain Tier 1 - 2×Lesser Earth Rock Elementals Number of Inhabitants: 2 (3)
The data chart displayed the hierarchy of the food chain within the first floor, and the number of inhabited dungeon monsters within the first floor.
Allen gained a smile, "It would seem that I'm included within that equation as well."
Walter: You know, Allen. You could also excavate 1² meter block by expending dungeon points, right. It's instantaneous, everything within the 1² meter block dissappears.
Walter, the dungeon core a.i suggested, as he states the obvious simple functions of the Excavate option within the dungeon interface.
Allen suddenly made a surprised expression, but some how quickly recovered, "Oh, I've completely forgotten about that. The Excavate function is it what it's called..."
Allen asks Walter, the dungeon core a.i a question about the Excavate function, "Still, what about the left over excavated rubble? Whatever happens to it?"
Walter: Obviously it gets demolished. Deleted out from existence...
So what is your point?
Walter, the dungeon core a.i answered Allen's enquiry as he then in return asks a question of his own.
Allen already has prepared a suitable answer for Walter's question, "It would be a simple waste to throw all of that said rubble away. It could be recycled or be used for something greater, rather than be destroyed."
Walter: Recycled. How so?
Whatever Allen just said had made Walter, the dungeon core a.i become a bit perplexed as he could not think of any valid reason to validate his point.
'Rubble is rubble. Nothing good ever comes out from trash.'
Allen then gave Walter, the dungeon core a.i a self taught lecture, "Stone is a natural resource that is found in plentiful numbers everywhere around the world. It can be used in buildings, construction, concrete, clay, and so on."
Walter: And your point is...
Allen continued his lecture, "The reason is because stone is an useful resource, because of its strong sturdy physical properties. It can be changed and altered to fit the cause for whatever you like it want it to be."
Walter: So your point is that you wanted to used the wasted stone to build and help refined the dungeon.
Are you planning on building a town or village within side your dungeon?
Walter, the dungeon core a.i suggested an idea which certainly amazes Allen.
Allen was certainly surprised at what Walter, the dungeon core a.i suggested, "What? Building a town withinside a dungeon, are you crazy. We haven't even reached that point yet. It's too early to think about building a so called town withinside a dungeon." He exclaimed.
"What I meant was to use the wasted stone that we acquired from the excavation to modify and improve the two Lesser Earth Rock Elementals." Allen explained to Walter, the dungeon core a.i.

"Since the Rock Elementals are made from lumps of earth and stone, their physical appearance and body structure could be physically changed to fit ones own taste." Allen says, "They are like clay dolls, which can be molded and change for one's own goal."
Walter: Oh, I remember now. The two Lesser Earth Rock Elemental Einz and Zwei both possess the [Body Moldability] skill. So they can constantly upgrade their stone bodies by consuming rock and stone.
Walter, the dungeon core a.i suddenly recalled something, and that is that elementals could freely change or alter the shape of their bodies and appearance by consuming the materials that which their bodies are made from.
A thought suddenly came across Allen's head, "Is it possible to store all of that extra rubble within the limited storage inventory space?"
Allen suggested an idea to store the extra unearthed rubble withinside his inventory space.
Walter: I'm not sure how much of that unearthed rubble would fit inside your inventory space, but you could go ahead and try if you want to.
Walter, the dungeon core a.i did not know the limit of the size and weight of what could be stored withinside the limited inventory space, but he insisted that Allen should go ahead and try it out.
"Okay, then. I will go ahead and try it out." Allen said so to Walter.
Allen then opens up the inventory option from within the dungeon interface menu.
Dungeon Interface Status Skill Inventory [0/100] Loot Trap Summon Creation Expansion 123 DP = 123 MP Currency 0g 0s 0c
The inventory option is located at the bottom of the status option on the dungeon interface menu, and Allen selected the inventory option.
A grid like screen then appears before him. Each square box could hold ninety-nine entities of the same type.
Inventory
However, for certain entities that are not trully classified as a single solid object, for instance, a liquid substance or many grains of sand, it can still be stored. But the storage limit is measured in either weight or liquid mass, reaching utmost to 100 Kilogram or 100 Litres.
Allen then presses his hand on the large piles of rubble in front of him, whilst the inventory space is still open.
He felt the urge, as he uttered out the single phrase 'store' inside his head.
A white light then envelopes the large piles of rubble, transforming the large rubbles into particles of light, like a vacuum, the particles of light is then sucked into the inventory space menu.
The two square box on the hundred inventory grid slot began to light up, as it is then filled to the brim with rubble.
Inventory Earth Rubble (100 Kg) Earth Rubble (75 Kg)
Allen and Walter was certainly surprised on the amount of rubble that is stored within their inventory space.
Allen said, "Just look at the amount of rubble that is stored within the first grid slot, and that is from just only one pile of dirt..." He pauses for a sec, before continuing, "By the time that we completely expand this dungeon core room by a couple of blocks more, my inventory space will be nearly filled up with dirt."

Walter: Well, you got plenty of stone to use to upgrade your Earth Elementals, so that's a plus plus right.
Walter, the dungeon core a.i insisted thinking on the bright side of all things, so Allen cheered up.
Allen responded, "Oh, you're right."
Allen then checks on the amount of dungeon points he got after taking a rest.
DP Remaining: 24 (147)
Allen thought to himself, 'It would seem that after a moment of rest, my Mana Points completely fully recovered by itself.'
After a short analysis, he deducted that, "The increase in dungeon monsters within the dungeon has increase the rate of dungeon points that I'm generating passively."
He said to himself, "Though I don't know by how much."
Walter: So what are you planning to do now?
Walter, the dungeon core a.i asked Allen how they should move on from here.
Allen just simply give a short response, "To bide some time and gain enough dungeon points to summon a large number of Earth Elementals in order to increased my dungeon rank." He explains to Walter, the dungeon core a.i his future plans.
Walter: Might I suggest something...
Walter, the dungeon core a.i suddenly intervenes as he wanted to say something.
"Yes, go on." Allen was quite open to new ideas. So he listened to Walter's new ideas.
Walter: I suggest you increase the biodiversity of the monsters you summoned within the cave room.
"I was already planning on doing that, but I don't have sufficient amounts of dungeon points and the number of different types of summoning dungeon monsters that I have accessible." Allen responded to Walter's suggestion.
Walter: You've also got the Lesser Earth Sand Elemental and the Mealworms.
Allen was not feeling it. "I'm not really against summoning mealworms, but aren't they pointless and weak."
Walter: Although, the Mealworms are not worth much that much within your eyes. They are still worth something.
The mealworms are quite often literally at the bottom of the food chains within most dungeon. All sentient dungeons have access to Mealworms when they first started.
They are omnivores; so making them nature's most perfect scavenger, as they would literally eat anything they could find and get their hands on.
The species itself is pretty adaptable and can change itself to adapt to their environment. The adult mealworm can metamorphosise themselves into Darkling Beetles. The average lifespan of an Darkling Beetles is fifteen years, that is not including the mutations and traits it may incurred from being a dungeon monster.
The most primary source of food that they eat are Dungeon Moss. To them, dungeon moss are highly nutritious and contains plentiful of mana inside.
Now Allen is starting to get a splitting headache from processing all of that information, "I get it, I get it..." He says it sarcastically, "If I ever wanted such information, I would have watched a nature's wildlife show or some insectologist's video off from YouTube." He exclaimed.
Walter: Yeah, yeah. I know. I'm only just informing you.
Walter, the dungeon core a.i then fires back at Allen's comments.
With the amount of dungeon points he now has left within his arsenal, Allen then opens up the summoning tab within the dungeon interface menu, as he then summons a Lesser Earth Sand Elemental.
❕ System Notification [You have successfully summon a Lesser Earth Sand Elemental. 120 DP is consumed.]
Allen could instinctively feel the mana leaving his body and entering the dungeon core, the mana point consumption is more than usual, and be converted into dungeon points to be used in the summoning of the Lesser Earth Sand Elemental from the summoning tier list.
An earth elemental core is then formed and fully materialised in front of Allen's dungeon core crystal.
Sand gradually gathers around the earth elemental core, as it becomes the base material that which built the earth elemental's main body. A humanoid figure that is made from thousands of, millions of grains of sand.
It comes together to formed a Lesser Earth Sand Elemental.

ICOMO ODYSSEY
Jonathan Vélo never expected to be famous. Not for riding his bike all the way around the continent of Icomo. Every adult knows his story, and children learn about him at school. This, however, is the first and only biography written about that great man with foreigners in mind. We, his biographers, imagine they will be immensely grateful. Of course, readers will find the people of Icomo an unusual sort for glorifying a young man who did nothing more than quit his job and ride his bike from town to town, city to city… But in an age of robots and computers, when little escapes the notice of the historian, there is a quiet epic to be told. It is the epic of cozy nights in a tent below the stars, of warm wind and ocean waves. It is also the epic of missing old friends in faraway places, and that feeling of needing to make life mean something. *** ‘ICOMO ODYSSEY’ is a nostalgic slice-of-life adventure about a utopian sci-fi land. No clever villains or epic fights here. Just cozy pleasures, charming towns and villages, interesting cultures, and the people who live in them… This story will update bi-weekly on Friday and Saturday. https://www.scribblehub.com/series/467210/icomo-odyssey/

After the End: Serenity
We all want to believe we are heroes of our own story - unless we want to be the villain, of course. At the end of everything, the Final Reaper decided he hadn’t been a hero. Driven by a desire to right the wrongs he was subjected to, he killed everyone who wronged him or his people - which turned out to be everyone that wasn’t killed by someone else first. He'd won - but it was a hollow victory. Eventually, Order’s Voice found a way out. If the only existing being would agree to give up most of his power, the Voice could reset the multiverse to an earlier time with a few minor changes. Of course, the Voice couldn't ask it that way. It could only ask if the Final Reaper was willing to start over from when Earth was first brought into Order. It was an easy decision, and yet it wasn’t. Was he willing to go through eons of pain again to not be alone? Yes. In a heartbeat. Not that his heart beat anymore. Now it would. Perhaps he could even be a hero, this time. When he landed in his old body - more or less - on Earth, the Final Reaper once again became Thomas. He was both and neither. He needed a new name for a new life. Serenity. ------------------------------------------ While this is technically a System Apocalypse story, it's a System Apocalypse that is designed to have a large percentage of the population survive and prosper. There are a lot of problems that come with the appearance of the Voice, and it's entirely possible to lose. Earth has some special opportunities, but also special challenges. The first time around, Earth won the first round and lost the second. Serenity has ten years from when the Voice arrives to prevent that from happening. It will be a group effort; Serenity can't win alone - which is difficult for someone who's been alone for as long as he has. Of course, that's only his second priority. ------------------------------------------- Updates Daily A note on the nonhuman lead tag: He isn't human, and hasn't been human for a very, very long time (or maybe not long at all, depending on how you count it). He still thinks of himself as human, either way. The content warnings are mostly to give me room to write; this fiction is not intended to be edgy, but once in a while a character will swear or someone will get seriously injured. The cover image is a Chandra/Hubble composite image of VV 340 / Arp 302 / UGC 9618. While we're not going to space itself any time soon in the story, people from elsewhere are coming to Earth and Serenity will visit other planets. Plus, I like space imagery.
