《My Life As A Magician》Chapters 33

I walked in the direction of the town centre with my footsteps echoing between my ears. The streets became louder and more frantic as people bustled in and out of shops, offices, and cafes. I found my way to Good Vibrations, looking for familiar comfort in this dream-like town. The baby blue facade looked like it had a fresh coat of paint, sheening in the bright sun.

I spotted Josh on the footpath.

“Josh!” I shouted. “Josh?”

He seemed to look right through me. He looked preoccupied as he walked into the cafe.

“Josh!” I bustled my way in.

He was already playing the piano by the time I reached him. The harmonies weaved their way into my heart. The melodies danced over my body, and it felt like a direct communication from his heart to mine. I had never heard anything so pure. The sound overcame me, and I began to sway with the ebb and flow of the beautiful timbre of the instrument. My eyes were filled to the brim as I dropped to my knees.

“Oh Josh,” I whispered as he finished his set.

He did not see me as he left the cafe, so I scrambled to catch up to him.

Outside I called out to him, “Josh! Josh!” but he could not hear me.

I ran up to him and touched his shoulder, but he kept walking. He did not know I was there.

“Josh!” I tried again, but it was no use.

He turned to walk up a hill.

“Where are you going?” I cried.
