I made it back to my cottage, after zig zagging through the streets to make sure I wasn’t being followed. I fingers were shaking as I locked the door and I struggled to get out of my wet clothes.
I ran a hot bath, and sat in, letting the hot water wash over me. I tried to force my breathing to slow down, but my heart was still pounding.
I knew he would come after me at some point, but I had made an error in not preparing for this moment. I had to lay low for a while.
