《Criminal Lord》Chapter 10. 'Peaceful' Training

Using the weakest of them as ghouls will only buy the few minutes we need, so we need to involve the leader soon, Terry thought.
Yeah, if we haven’t even touched that thing in the back, I doubt that the dragon will kill it before us, Din replied.
Well, with all the damage I’ve sustained and how exhausted I am now, a feast is in order. Don’t you think? Terry asked as he jumped onto the massive foe before him.
Hehehehehe! Tear them to shreds! Din laughed as both of Terry’s eyes filled with black and his body became shrouded in a darker color of fog that began to wrap around his foes.
Chomp! Splurt! Suck!
Terry tore into the flesh of his foes, extinguishing what little flames remained with their blood and drinking the rest.
[Raise Ghouls]
While the ghouls were being slaughtered within seconds as they were already dead and therefore rotted through with little movement, Terry needed to merely buy time and the ghouls were perfect for such a move since the monsters couldn’t differentiate friend from foe in some cases and went on rampages. The ghouls were also any dead creatures, making them very easy to summon and use.
But even so, Terry had to face the massive fleshy creature with the eye in its center in order to gauge its power as the leader of such powerful enemies.
“Uragh!!” cired Ryan in more pain as his body continued to burn sustainably. Thanks to the armor he wore, instead of his body, the armor took the brunt of most of the flame and helped to control the flames very well.
“Alright, alright, you can kill ‘em but don’t touch the stronger ones,” Terry said to the flaming Ryan before looking at his dead pet serpent, surrounded by monsters as they began to reach the egg.
Slash! Squish! Squelch! Splurt!
Blood sprayed out from the group of monsters as the serpent wrapped around the beasts and smashed them into bloody jelly.
“Chuck the egg over here!” Terry called out to the new ghoul as he focused his eyes upon the massive ball of flesh atop the golden throne.
[Activating Appraisal]
[(?????) Hellspawn=?????????] Notice ???????
Tch, Terry thought as he grasped his daggers firmly before aiming at the eye of his unknown foe.
[Activating Overwhelming Strength]
[Activating Spur]
Shoom!
Terry threw his daggers, now red with blood, directly into the eye of the fleshy creature before leaping forth to retrieve the egg speeding towards him with his softened blood wings. Thankfully, as the egg was incredibly sturdy in the first place, such an action caused little or no damage other than possibly dizziness of whatever slept inside.
All of a sudden, the long eyelashes of the creature turned from outward to directly in front of the pupil before tuning into sharp, black teeth before stabbing the daggers and placing them both directly inside of it’s pupil until the daggers were completely gone from sight.
“Oh no! What ever shall I do?!” Terry cried as he continued towards his foe while holding the massive green egg in both of his arms while using his wings to give what extra height he needed before lifting the large egg to strike his foe as it still floated above the throne.
Din, do you know what to do in this case? Terry asked in concern.
Continue towards this foe. It is unable to be harmed in any way since its eye can absorb almost anything whether it be magic or weapons of any kind and reflect such attacks. But sadly, it is unable to hold living things, or rather, entire creatures, so using an egg to kill this fool is our best option since the egg itself is also very hard and will throw the creature off guard, Din responded surely.

Terry had only a few meters left before reaching his foe but in the air, there was no foe who could accurately strike him. Within seconds was able to reach his target before beginning to plunge the massive egg into his foe.
Shlorp!
The creature made some sort of sucking sound before devouring the egg whole and staring deep into Terry’s eyes that were akin to its own. The pupil of the fleshy ball before Terry was some sort of mouth and could see while also devouring. And considering how there was nothing else that seemed interesting about the creature in terms of a way to remove waste, the creature was very akin to a jellyfish, which was also almost impossible to kill.
Even so, Terry merely needed to delay his foe and get it distracted for when everything would be incinerated via the dragon.
Rumble! Rumble! Roar!
Perfect, just a little more time, Terry thought as the egg smashed up against the pulsating, pink flesh of the creature which simply jiggled like jelly in response.
“That hurts doesn’t it? How about you have anoth-”
Ptuptuptuptuptuptuptuptuptuptuptuptuptuptuptuptuptuptuptu!!!!
Several shards of shining rock were produced in the moment that Terry raised the egg to strike again and became buried deep through the thick armor and into Terry’s pale, white flesh.

[Activating Intimidation]
[Activating Demon King Aura]
The massive orb of flesh blinked its massive eye and Terry used his chance to smash the egg forcefully upon the ball of flesh which continued to jiggle before using his fangs to bite deeply into the eyelid of the creature, forcing it shut.
Terry forced his foe to the ground as blood and fat oozed from the eyelid and proceeded to lick every last drop of blood and fat from his teeth.
You crazy bastard! Reacted Din fiercely. You need to turn the body of this creature to face the entrance. Quickly! I can hear the dragon closeby and it’ll arrive within seconds.
Of course, but this thing is just so heavy. Besides, can’t you help me out with this, I’m out of my comfort zone as is with how there’s no guns whatsoever! Terry spat back in anger and weariness.
“Urk, huff, huff,” Terry coughed as he lifted the incredible ball of flesh and turned it with incredible strength before sitting upon the golden throne.
The massive flesh squirmed fiercely to escape from Terry’s grasp as he sunk his teeth deeper into the eye of his foe, rendering it useless and unable to harm him.
The egg fell to the ground with a sharp thud before rolling to the right some meters. Terry couldn’t see if it was at all damaged but he hoped for the best and focused on the pulsating ball of flesh as it squirmed fiercely in his grasp for a few more seconds.
How much longer Din?! Terry asked in fear.
Don’t worry my vessel, the dragon has arrived to bring destruction upon the foes, laughed Din in response.
Well then, I can finally use what the king had been waiting years for… the left hand of Thomalus, Terry replied.
[Removing items from item, (High) Spatial Storage ArmBand= 5 Finger(s) of Thomalus.]
Since he’s dead regardless of if he escapes my grasp or not, I may as well ready my new weapon, Terry thought as five purple daggers, each radiating a weak mist, appeared in his left hand from his armband before being plunged deep into the eyelid of the creature before even more blood splattered out.
Whoosh!
The flesh began to bleed uncontrollably before changing its shape and caused Terry to lose his grip over the massive creature.

Sh*t! My fangs slipped out, no, no, no!
The massive creature of flesh opened its eye again, tearing the lid which was held tightly with the Fingers of Thomalus before revealing a now bloody pupil that had several thick veins leading into the empty black center which began to suck everything including the daggers.
“You lying bastard! Roar!! I’ll incinerate you along with every single one of these damn creatures who dared to oppose me!” roared the dragon as it burst into the room, ripping through the serpent ghoul and many of those surrounding it. The dragon began to breathe powerful flames in an instant, burning through the several ghouls and setting the remaining monsters ablaze, waiting for them to die on their own.
“Oh sh*t!” Terry cried as he fell completely from the ball of flesh as it raised into the air and the dragon looked directly at him with eyes of sheer rage.
“Serves you right. But I know that even this will not kill a vampire such as yourself. For something like you, I’ll need to thoroughly burn through all of your very existence in order to kill you and then I’ll move on to the one who has long threatened my position as the true leader of this dungeon!” roared the dragon as a bright crimson flash appeared upon the long neck of the dragon before flame erupted forth, directly upon Terry.
The massive and powerful flames merely caressed Terry for a few seconds as the armor attempted to resist but the flames of the dragon were not normal in the slightest as it was the strongest monster in the dungeon save for probably the boss and such. After a few seconds though, the armor began to melt instantly without even showing the message for lava protection as the flames began to feast away on Terry’s large, cold body.

[ACtivating Resolve]
Terry had no way to even think of fighting as he was being thoroughly burned alive and within mere seconds had already begun to char throughout his body. Such was the difference in level between a weak vampire and a dragon of such power and level.
[Activating Immortality]
The pulsating flesh merely floated high above Terry, watching him, waiting for him to die. Terry could do nothing to either foe and was being burned with insane heat, unable to survive for even seconds longer if he did nothing.
This, this pain! I can’t handle this! What do I do?!?! Terry thought in his despair as his skin had all peeled from his face, his eyes had burned in totality, and his tongue was nothing but charcoal. Terry was held close to the ground with his lack of strength against such overwhelming power yet the dragon before him wished for his entire body to become dust which would even then not satisfy the rage after having been betrayed.
For a human to survive even this much is very exceptional but any further is impossible. Leave the rest to me, Din said in response to the weak plea for help. After all, only those who have died against overwhelming odds once can think of such a method as this...

[Activating Vampire Wings]
[Activating Acrobatics]
[Activating Overwhelming Strength]
“Now then, I’ve always wondered what kind of void lives inside of a Hellspawn Overlord’s heart as I’ve only heard of them and never been able to test. Well, since am no longer technically ‘alive,’ I guess I can find out,” laughed Din as his blackened body sprouted brittle wings that became charred within seconds, and while turning most of his body to dust with his sudden movements, was able to leap up into the the eye of the large fleshy creature hovering above, before disappearing from sight altogether.
“Where did he go!? How did he even have any strength left to jump that intense distance in his condition when nearly all of his limbs have become dust from the burns. Honestly, not even one of the strongest willpower would be able to move much less leap in such a state. Even so, he must be dead inside there but as I’m killing these damn hellspawn anyway, I have no reason not to make sure that he’s dead. Then I can properly nurture my son,” said the dragon as it moved its glare to the fleshy creature then to the green egg in the corner of the massive room and back to the massive fleshy creature before another split-second flash appeared.
The pain is excruciating, thought Din. Even for a vampire such as myself who’s survived countless crucifictions and burns at a stake, I have never felt something like this. After all, an Elder Dragon, as the strongest breed, has some of the strongest flame in existence. But still, I never hoped that things would turn out like this, just goes to show how arrogance is the bane of all success. Well, since we’re alive, we should be easily able to find a way out of this. First off, I gotta find out what exactly exists inside this space after I heal up since my entire body is charred beyond recognition. Since I can’t really move, this’ll take a while.
As Terry's body began to heal, there seemed no difference, even after much of Terry’s brain and head healed, Din was unable to see nor hear.
While the ability to touch and feel would help determine if permanent damage was done, the excruciating pain had left a psychological scar on both Terry and Din which would take further time to get used to. There was only one other choice left to preserve time.
[Activating Vampire Sight]
That’s better, thought Din as his surroundings became illuminated and he was able to see his surroundings. As vampires didn’t use eyes and instead soundwaves, color wasn’t visible but sight without eyes was quite remarkable.
From the ease of movement all around him, Din knew that he wasn’t on solid ground of any kind. In fact, after looking at his breathtaking surroundings, Dina knew that the laws of gravity and possibly much more didn’t exist inside whatever dimension Terry resided inside of. There were several stones each producing a tiny layer of light at contact with Terry which signified that they were some form of ore that was probably valuable as they hit very strongly and dealt massive damage as weapons. And the fact that there was so much meant that there was plenty to steal and that the monsters had been mining or some such, possibly in an attempt to deal in some very illegal business. Even so, the only thing of importance were the Fingers of Thomalus as once made into a hand, they would pave the way for all else.
Din continued to look around inside of the body of the Hellspawn while finding several incredibly interesting items.
[Obtained Burning Obsidian Monarch Chamber Key=Allows entrance into the room where the boss of the dungeon (Avrohim Volcano) resides.]
[Obtained Burning Obsidian Monarch Chamber Teleportation Scroll=1 remaining use; Use takes 1 hour to prepare without use of other magic; Once used, powerful active skills and magic may not be used without the damage of this scroll; Use of scroll will bring user of scroll to the room of the boss of the dungeon (Avrohim Volcano)]
[Obtained Hellspawn Overlord’s Heart’s Heart=Mergeable; Magic can be absorbed and compressed into the user once this item has merged; All magic can be absorbed by the user and utilized so long as the user has resistance of some kind. (Can be merged with any Spacial Storage item in Hell’s Forge’s Flames); Warning! If you have a weak body, merging with any item has a high chance of corruption]
[Obtained Hellspawn Overlord’s Blood Vial=Consumable; Blood of Hellspawn Overlord will flow through the user’s veins once consumed, magnifying the effects of all demon and hellspawn skills; If Hellspawn Overlord’s Heart’s Heart has been used, Hellspawn Overlord’s Blood will pump freely throughout your body; Warning! If you have a weak body, using any other blood has a high chance of corruption]
[Obtained Void Skin=Immune to most physical attacks and magic]
[Obtained Staff of Nullification=Nullifies all magic in direct contact with this item]
Din naturally wished to store all of the items he could inside of the armband but as all Spacial Storage items took quite a while to use for storing, he had to manually carry for the most part. There were plenty of items, ore, and rotted corpses inside the void of space floating around of which Din took only the seemingly valuable stuff. But the actual Items that Dina found by looking around were quite strong. Weirdly enough though, there was no action from the outside that Din could sense. Everything not a single flame from the outside had yet made its way into the void of space.
Looking around though, much of what existed inside the void of space was incredibly aged. Each and every one of the bodies had been rotted through completely. Dust had covered much of the items as well which looked very ancient just from the look. While the items hadn’t been necessarily damaged though since they were incredible magic artifacts, the daggers Terry had thrown inside of the creature had become very dull and dusty.
After spending a while to find the daggers known as Fingers of Thomalus, Din realized something, time had become different than inside the real world. There was no mistake, items that had even just been thrown inside of the void would be worn down by full months. That meant that while there was still a time limit, Din had plenty of time to prepare. As not a single human had been able to enter the void inside of such a beast, none could have possibly imagined.
Very few would have the skills and even fewer would have the actual resolve to enter such a beast. Even if anyone managed to enter the void and experience such a peaceful area separated from reality, most would die of starvation and the lack of much oxygen. Both of which were nonexistent to a vampire as vampires and especially Higher Vampires. The only problem would be blood which can easily be solved by the Hellspawn Blood and Heart.
Well, since I have time, I may as well use it, Din thought. As long as I’m inside here I’m safe. I should use this time wisely. Since storing these items altogether will take a while, I may as well take my sweet time in using what I can.
[Equipped Void Skin]
[Merging with Hellspawn Overlord’s Heart’s Heart]
[Using Hellspawn Overlord’s Blood Vial]
[Activating Alchemic Blood]
[Activating Rapid Adaptation]
[Activating Resolve]
Din had begun to force down the pulsating black orb known as the heart after dislocating his jaw in order to digest or ‘merge’ with the item. Then, in order to force it down further and achieve a better effect, he began to drink the blood which allowed him to prevent regurgitation out of hunger and sweetness of the blood.
“Urk! Urg! Bla- blar- blork! Cough! Cough! Hurk! Ahem!” Din choked as his body resisted fiercely against the foreign organisms. Such was a natural reaction, after all, he had just added a powerful demon’s heart to his body along with his own which was obviously very dangerous. But as an immortal creature, the pain is all that would damage him which couldn’t compare to the actual incineration of his body.
While the process to actually utilize the new effects would span for at least a few years at least for a normal person alone, with the incredible skills that Terry had obtained, a few weeks to a single month would be more than enough.
The blood is merging into my body with incredible speed and ease with the skills and that is helping the heart, Din processed. While this is excruciating, the strength will help me to survive and become stronger for future battles. But even if I manage to gain massive strength from a Hellspawn Overlord, an Elder dragon has a much greater level and dragons are at the top of most food chains. Therefore, instead of just making a weapon… I need to become a weapon.
Din grasped each Finger of Thomalus tightly with his shaking body. His stomach churned with disgust as he moved even a few inches but his resolve kept him strong. Din moved his hands to his stomach before using the daggers to each pierce deeply into his flesh.
[Activating Blood Regeneration]
I must… stay… strong and control… myself, Din thought as his mind became hazy with all of his overwhelming discomfort. I will not be able to use the dragon’s heart to forge the Left Hand of Thomalus as I need the hand to get the heart in the first place. My only choice is to use my own heart and body as a forge by merging with these fingers. Even though they are weapons, this body will still hold them securely and once I absorb the flames into this heart, the compressed energy should be able to substitute for a dragon heart. I must withstand just a bit of the flame before I can absorb it and then forge the hand. Now then, time to train.
[Merge with Hellspawn Overlord’s Heart’s Heart successful] Notice, since Hellspawn Overlord's Blood has also been used, it shall pump through your body until death, massively increasing demon and hellspawn abilities.
Fwoosh!!!!!
"Heh, I've been getting bored but now to see if everything will actually turn out well or if we die regardless. What do you think, eh Din?"

8 562Ambrosius: My Own Time
Hi... I died. Well actually... I didn't really die. My previous life definitely did though. If I'm being honest... If I truly died... what would happen? Where would I go? Is life just a fragile switch to be flipped? Or... is it something much more? Well, to answer those questions I asked, I had to live... and die... then live again... and die again. Over and over I lived... and died. Until one day... the ball of yarn I had been chasing around... finally unraveled itself. What was at end of the string... nothing, because that's all it is... a string of life... and death. But say... I am the one who unraveled the yarn ball of life and death.. so why must I abide by the rules of it? Why must my life... or rather... lives... be mortal? I... should be the only one... the only person to have unraveled that ball. The ONLY one, huh... sound nice... doesn't it? An infinite time... one devoid of the rules life and death that have been set upon me... a time that I should own... and one that I do own, from on, and forever. My own time... and the time that I own.

8 130The 48 Laws of Power in Practice
Discover how power works in the world, through true stories and real-world applications. In the game of power, we all play - as either conscious or unconscious players. So we can't afford not to know the rules. The ** chapters have the most outrageous content. In each chapter, I will be summarizing one of the laws and how it can be applied to current events and pop culture. Some of you have told me the stories are what you enjoy the most. They are real, raw, and anonymous so that others may learn from my mistakes. There will be cringe-worthy stories of self-sabotage, but perhaps also some unlikely triumphs. Some of the details are changed to protect the innocent, (or perhaps guilty). "The 48 Laws of Power" by Robert Greene illustrates truths about power, through philosophy and lessons from three thousand years of history, which still hold true today. There is a lot to learn from each chapter. I encourage you to go on this journey with me by reflecting on how each law might apply to you. Together, may we learn from the past and take control of the future.
