《In the Name of the Unholy Spirit》Chapter 07 : Mortal

Silas' mental resilience of a God had been challenged after three entire days of festivities. He was tired of acting like the child that his parents knew and loved.

How could he explain to them that he no longer felt like a child anymore?

He didn't just acquire the powers of a God, he had had also gained a tremendous amount of wisdom.

As Silas was pondering over his next course of action, he felt a human getting closer to the hallway where the door to his room was.

"Probably, a servant..." He mused to himself before he had a wild thought, "Can I see who it is from here?"

He looked to the wall and then focused on it, aiming to see through it.

It didn't work, which surprised him immensely. The fact that he could feel that there was someone getting closer to his room spoke volumes about the reach of his senses.

He then closed his eyes and concentrated on that feeling he felt.

It was like his mind expanded in the surroundings and he could see and feel everything around him.

Slowly he could sense everything happening in the castle, then the Lynn city, then the Eralis Kingdom and then he chose to stop there. He retraced his footsteps and then concentrated on the shadow of the person he had just seen in walking in the hallway.

It was his father, John Stewart.

Silas smiled at his first attempt at a successful use of his powers. He got off the bed and then went to open the door.

He opened the door just as his father was about to knock.

"Oh? You knew I was here?" John said, surprised as he was thinking that he was about to wake his son up.

"Yes, dad. It's so early. What brings you here?" Silas said with a smile.

"Can't your father come to visit you anytime he wants? You've been awake for five days now and I can't help but become restless when I think about all the time we missed together... So I came to talk to you a bit." He said.

Silas could tell that there was another reason to his impromptu visit...Yes, Silas thought it was impromptu because he felt that something he didn't know had made his father act in such a way.

"Alright." Silas nodded as he stood aside to let John in.

John entered the room and then asked, "Silas, what do you think about your future from now on?"

"I have yet to think about it." He answered, but thought, " Time for me is no longer a constraint."

"Well, me and your mother were thinking about sending you to the Rauwan Imperial Knight Academy for five years. It's one of the best academies on the continent. Once you graduate and are knighted, no one will question your claim over the Eralis Kingdom's crown." John said.

"Are you not the one who wanted to make up for lost time? How is ushering me out of the kingdom going to help you do that?" Silas retorted.

John then looked at him in the eyes, "You may be different now and have some powers, but that doesn't change the fact that you're just a five year old in a teenager's body. You have no idea how the world works and we're running out of time to teach you before you come of age...So I want you to travel and see the world for what it is through your own eyes."

Silas felt cold sweat in his back. How did his father know about his powers?

Arkun must've told him.

Well, I never thought of hiding it anyway.

Still, he needed to ask, "How do you know about my powers?"

"Arkun told us last night. When me and your mother found out about the fact that you weren't acting like a five year old but more like an adult, we went to see Arkun and he told us everything...I didn't even know the word 'God' before last night." John said with a reminiscent look.

"Are you not afraid of me?" Asked Silas as if afraid of finding out the answer.

"Listen to me Silas Stewart! No matter what happened in the past and what will happen in the future, you will always be our son. Don't you ever forget that."

It was the first time that Silas found himself face to face with such a show of unconditional love. He was overwhelmed with emotion and he started crying.

John hugged him for a while before he lightly tapped on his head and said: "We'll talk some more later."

With that said, John silently left the room leaving the crying Silas ponder on the fact that he was probably more human than he thought for his emotion to get the better of him.

It was then that it hit him: As godly as his soul was, his body was that of a mere mortal. He was prone to emotional cues of a human being.
