Rin just walked through the central city, crowded with people working for their everyday living. The travel between school and Rin's house only takes about ten minutes plus and minus. In contrast, people earned hard to afford their daily survival in this rapidly changed civilization.

Paper money was the only system in charge of this world trading system. But what makes the difference between before and now is that money doesn't have differences in the currency as the world stayed unified and tied to one ruling country.

The world revolves quickly, making the neo-human mind which comes out with its idea and creativity boundlessly. Many people didn't bind themselves to the technology gadget. Instead, they go for an item that could enhance their godly ability.

The world sure does change. The weak and selfish humans we once knew didn't exist in this new neo-human society anymore. Everyone was preoccupied with something more meaningful. They rise to their feet and sprint toward a brighter future rather than wasting their precious time grasping technology and a contactless social society.

Her house was surrounded by tall buildings that kept climbing up to the sky year after year, yet only her house stood out most in this scenery. Rin reached an odd-looking double-story building next to the central city. Judging from the environment, it looks like a slum rather than a luxury building built to worship her mother. She swiftly climbed up the steel-made ladder without any holder beside it.

That is where she's been living for the past seventeen years. Her mother doesn't want to gain much attention in this rapidly changing society. Some activists were still against their existence and kept holding their belief that deities were responsible for this mass world destruction in the past.

Human doesn't wage war, but it doesn't mean that they will not go against the one who changed today's history. Rather than gaining appreciation, some of the deities sure do hold their grudge against these depreciated, short-minded humans. They fear nothing might come after them, as they are the ones who made humans into this stage.

"I'm back, mom," Rin shouted right after she twisted the steel-made doorknob open and walked inside the house. Knowing her mother will cook something for her precious daughter, probably she taking her time preparing dinner right now.

"Welcome home, Rin. How was school? Everything good?"

"Don't ask, mom. You already know, am I right? There was nothing that I could hide from you." Rin sat down on the floor in the living room. Her eyes keep staring at the kitchen room, a few feet away from the living room.

"So, where is nana? I thought you already persuaded her to come back with you?" Rin's mother enters the living room with both hands full of a delectable plate of dishes she had prepared, especially for two of her daughters. She immediately sits down next to Rin after placing the plate dishes on the dining table in the living room area.

Rin's mother, Xiah. A tanned skin goddess with long brownish hair. Her body height reached around five feet tall, and her sharp nose with brownish eyes, which Rin inherited from her mother. No one should have guessed that she was one of the deities that hold one of the supreme elements, wind. She looks like an ordinary housewife with her worn-out tee and untidy hair.

She used to work at the community patrol in this neighborhood. The pay didn't get her anywhere, but at least she knew that it would be enough to pay off her daughter's schooling fees and the rent for this shabby-looking double-story house. She didn't want to stand out like most goddesses who wished to blend into this society.

They live on the second floor, a small and cramped space. The rent of this house didn't take away Rin's mother's payroll that much, enough for a simple living. Remind her daughter that they must stay low profile and act like nobody in this society.

"She vanished like a ghost right before the class ended. I have no idea where she went, but it makes me anxious," Rin said. Her hand busies picking up some fried nut served on the plate and putting it on the chew.

"Where's she going? She didn't tell you?" Xiah asked.

"I totally have no idea at all. She has been acting all weird since this morning. Is there nothing we could do to help her, mom?"

Xiah didn't respond or keep her hand peeling the fried nut skin. She stands up and grabs on her uniform. Rush to button every single button on her uniform, she didn't forget to tell her daughter that she couldn't eat those snacks with her bare hands and needed to wash her hands before eating them. She wrapped up the family discussion straightforwardly and quickly. After all, having her daughter beside Cynthia was the best way to keep her in a tab.

"Mom, can I follow you? I want to help her," Rin asked. She didn't want to be left out and do nothing while sitting inside this small, cramped space waiting for them to return.

"It's quite personal and dangerous as well, Rin. Why don't you stay at home and wait for us to return? I'll promise you. It won't take long, alright?" Xiah finished tidying up her hair and rushed toward her kid, kissing her daughter's forehead to show how much she cared and loved her.

Leaving her daughter out of this was a good option as she didn't want her to know too much regarding Cynthia's dark secrets. The elder should handle it more than her daughter, who shares a similar age as Cynthia, unknowingly the ugly truth Cynthia tried so hard to hide. In a rush, she wore the dark-colored sports shoe placed right beside the front door and sleek the door open, and shut it off in a hurry.
