Chapter Six: Lightning Ape Forest
"We have to stay focused, we don't have as much fighting power now, fuck bro how does that even happen?" Wundah is jogging next to AvatarPyro, making their way deeper into the forest.
"Why was there a Elder Dragon, and not even a regular one a fucking God Level?" AvatarPyro whispers, the trees becoming more spread out, their cover is harder to keep.
"Holy shit." Wundah and AvatarPyro duck behind a tree.
"No fucking way man. Lightning Ape?" AvatarPyro whispers in a panic.
"That was way bigger than in the game." Wundah pokes his head out quickly and ducks back, "One Elder, fifteen regular ones, but they're still massive." The Adventurers are so small compared to these beasts, it is like a anime, just the enemies are massive Lightning Apes, enormous towering apes with forearms the size of big rig trucks.
"Fuck, there's no way we can outrun them." AvatarPyro clutches his sword, "We have to fight, we can do this."
"What's the plan?" Wundah slowly unsheathes his sword.
"I'll distract the really really big one, you take out the smallish enormous ones?" AvatarPyro holds his last Flashbang in his hand.
"Let's do this." They bump fists and rush around the corner.
AvatarPyro throws his Flashbang and they rush to attack the Lightning Ape, but they're nowhere to be seen, "Fuck! Above!" AvatarPyro tries to dodge but the Elder punches him into a tree in the distance. He groans in pain but quickly pops a Health Pill in his mouth. "Wundah!"
Wundah is being swarmed by the fifteen Lightning Apes as the Elder rushes toward AvatarPyro, who sprints towards the beast. Wundah gets knocked in all directions, but slashes viciously, killing one. At the sight of the fallen, the rest get aggro, they all howl, their roars deafening as their fur turns yellow with lightning. The Elder shoots a beam of lightning at AvatarPyro, who rolls, barely missing it. Wundah jumps off of the trees, dodging balls and beams of lightning, looking for an opening. He can feel the strain on his body from the slight damage he's taking, so he pops a Health Pill mid jump. His body strong once more, he takes a punch head on as he slices the Lightning Ape's neck. He jumps off of a tree, popping another Health Pill. AvatarPyro swings viciously, but the Lightning Ape blocks with its massive forearms, each swing returned is blocked by AvatarPyro's sword, but the damage is too much for his body, the sudden impulse causes him to automatically eat a Health Pill, only two left in his inventory. Wundah jumps down next to him, "Dude I'm out of Health Pills! There's one small one left!"

"Here!" AvatarPyro tosses a Health Pill to Wundah, who puts it in his mouth. The Elder and Lightning Ape are standing ahead of the Adventurers, beating their chests.
The Lightning Ape rushes forward, AvatarPyro rushes to attack it, "Watch out!"
A beam of lightning fries the Lightning Ape as Wundah pushes AvatarPyro away, the beam hits Wundah in the back. He grunts while falling to the floor. The Elder gets closer, it beats its chest as it howls. Wundah slowly gets up, AvatarPyro steps ahead as two more Lightning Ape appear next to the Elder. He throws his last Health Pill to Wundah who catches it, "You push ahead, you don't look back. Find Andrew and keep going. Don't you fucking die! Don't worry about me. Hurry! Get the fuck out of here! Go!"
Wundah eats the pill, wiping the tears from his eyes, "See ya bro." He dashes away into the rock-covered field as AvatarPyro yells while rushing at the Lightning Apes, he doesn't look back. He runs and runs, he pauses as the sun rises, the clouds in the distance a velvet color. Wundah looks back at the forest, he hears the final battle cry of his friend, the silence that follows is too much for him, he screams at the sky as he falls to his knees. He punches the ground.
"Stop yelling, they'll hear you." He looks up to see Lawa clad in her black armor.
"Lawa, what are you doing here?" She is crying.
"I'm sorry, your friend saved my life just now. It seems I'm always being saved." She looks at the floor, her body trembles and she sighs, "I was fighting ten Lightning Apes when I saw him fighting the Elder, he managed to cut off his horn and then did the same move I did and cut off its arm. The Elder screamed in agony and the forest seemed to move. I killed one of my ten and the rest went aggro. I got punched through the trees and landed near his feet. I gave him three Health Pills and I tried to help him but reinforcements came, and next thing you know an army of fifty Lightning Apes stood before us, protecting the Elder. We stood no chance. He told me to run and find you, and to save Andrew. Then he um." She blushes and looks at the floor.

"Then he what?" Wundah begins to stand up again.
"Then he kissed me and called me his Waifu. He apologized and smiled as he yelled at the top of his lungs, sprinting into battle as I ran. I couldn't see him when I looked back, just a swarm of Lightning Apes and a floor of dead ones. His final yell just now, he lasted a long time, there's probably a forest full of dead Lightning Apes. I'm sorry." She stares at the forest.
"Don't be sorry, he died like a true Adventurer. I'm headed for the God Level Elder Dragon to get Andrew, you coming with me?" Wundah stands up and takes a deep breath.
"Yeah, let's go Wundah." Lawa takes one last look at the forest then they begin walking towards the towering mountains up ahead. Hope in their hearts that they can find a merchant, that Andrew is alive, that this game will not be the end for them.

Journey Towards Dao
What is infinite, possessing no beginning nor end? What is imperceptible, appearing both indistinct yet intelligible? What is indecipherable, unable to be interpreted or understood? What is quintessential, unfathomable, eternal? What is Dao? The main focus of this story is detailed cultivation, professions, and combat systems. It's a slice-of-life with a cultivation system that delves into psychological aspects (including minor psychopathic/sociopathic elements). Protagonist is the low-key sort. Be prepared for a slower start. This is my first ever experience writing fiction. I'm trying my best to put out quality content initially, but my main goal is to improve. Comments, ratings, and reviews are greatly appreciated!

Homecoming | A Chronicles of Ascension Story
When Jethen was captured by slavers, his childhood was torn from him and left shattered half a world away. When he finds himself back home decades later, by methods he does not fully understand, he finds that the life he has lived has changed him far more than he knew. In a home he no longer knows. Places and people at the same time familiar and foreign, he must decide - stay and help with his parent's business, or return to the land that remade him and the family he made there. --------- Homecoming started as just a short story to break an episode of writers block. It has since morphed well beyond that into a novel in it's own right, and may well end up with a sequel. The writing of Homecoming became a bit of a self induced challenge to improve my initial, first brush, writing quality. Each chapter was written raw, given a once over read and edit, and then posted. In this way I am forcing myself to write better from the start. I do hope you enjoy the story and will leave a comment or review, and if you see an issue, feel free to let me know as well. I know it is not nearly perfect, and it will get a full and proper edit once I am done. Never hurts to fix things along the way though. As an additional note. The story has undergone a structural rework and has been reposted in an updated structure and sequence of chapters. If you have read this story already, I invite you to do so again in this new structure.
