《Tales of Sehrlana》A secret revealed in the night
Advertisement
Since his brother's birth, Chris would find some reasons to be near him but he found it awkward and embarrassing to reveal that he wanted to spend time with him. So he would take the route in the mansion which passed by Sarah's room, giving a side glance while walking.
Sarah could easily figure it out and will call out for him whenever he walked by. Chris will bring out his theatrics and act surprised, "Oh! I was just passing by, how are you mother?" even when talking to her he couldn't help looking at him.
Sarah would just smile and ask him to come closer. He would try his best to move as slow as possible, trying to pretend his lack of interest, but standing beside him, he couldn't keep any of his guards up, the baby would just look up at Chris and he couldn't help but look back.
Chris didn't know why, but he felt good standing beside him, he had Sarah's light green eyes and William's Orange-Red hair. Realising that he is staring at the baby he would look up at Sarah, and awkwardly ask for his leave. Sarah would just smile, knowing the routine very well by now.
These activities became a normal part of his life, study with Roger, playtime with Larka, and the occasional visit to Sarah and his brother. This continued for two years, Chris was now in this world for close to seven years.
Since that one dream about Eva, there were no more flashbacks of his old memories, sometimes he had to try really hard to remember the feeling he had for her. He started to understand the saying "Time will make you forget everything". But he didn't want to forget her, knowing very well that if this continued it was likely to happen.

Occasionally Chris would read magic books and try applying some of the magic in them, but no matter how much he tried nothing happened, it was as if there wasn't even an ounce of magic in him. He was not given any training that kids of his age would have already received as he didn't show any affinity, Sarah feared he would just end up hurting himself.
At times his feeling of dread would come back, what was the point of coming into this world? Not able to practice magic, no memory of the past what was really the point. Larka somehow could always sense his mood and would start seeking attention when he went into these thoughts. She would start squeaking and would push her head near his hand asking him to pat her. Most of the time it helped, but at times he couldn't help but get a feeling like he was sinking.
Things would have gotten worse, if not for what he saw one night.
Chris was deep in his sleep when Larka's movements woke him up. He woke up to see her deep in sleep, "She is probably having some dream" he thought.
He looked outside his window, it was a full moon, it looked beautiful.
Something caught his eye in the garden, something was shimmering under the moonlight. On closer inspection, he realised it belonged to a person who was practicing some sort of movement technique. He kept repeating the same movements. His movements were fast, it almost felt as if he was not touching the ground.
He also noted that he was bare-chested and that it was his shoulder blades that were shimmering. When he turned to face the moonlight, Chris saw who the person was, but couldn't believe his eyes. It was Roger.

The next day, Chris woke up and went straight to Roger. He recollected once hearing Sarah speak of Roger's family having Draconite origin, he realised that shimmering under the moonlight were his Draconite scales. Seeing him always in a black suit with a thin build he couldn't have guessed him ever moving the way he did last night.
He found Roger at the master kitchen addressing other servants of the mansion. Seeing Chris walk towards him, Roger stopped addressing them and turned towards Chris, "Master Philip how may I be of service?". Chris looked straight at Roger and said "I want you to teach whatever you were doing last night."
Roger was taken back, but he didn't look as surprised as Chris had expected. He replied, "But Master Philip, I have been instructed not to teach any form of magic or martial arts to you, considering your safety. Especially the form which I was doing, would not be approved by Mistress". Chris was not planning to back off "Roger you have always been there with me since I was a baby, and I have never asked anything of you, but this time I really need you to do this for me."
There was a pause, and Chris was afraid that Roger would refuse.
But to Chris's surprise, he replied "If the young master is so adamant, then I find it hard to refuse, but I have two conditions if the young master would agree." Chris wanted to jump with happiness and hug Roger, instead, he replied "Anything Roger."
The two conditions were that he couldn't let others know that he was being taught especially Sarah and that practice will happen at night outside the mansion. Chris immediately agreed.
Chris felt excitement like he never felt since he came to this world. He couldn't wait for the classes to begin.

Life in the New World
On the Hiatus: I began writing this novel when I was, in all honesty, very bad at writing. I hope to revisit creative writing in the near future and I plan to, at some point in time, revisit this. I am flattered that many people have taken the time to read this story, but it is not what I intend to start with, as it will likely need a hard rewrite in order to correct many of the more glaring issues it has. Join our hero and follow his exciting adventure through a newly changed world! WARNING their will be violence, profanity,, and gore in this fiction. if any of these make you uncomfortable this is not a story for you turn around and walk away now!!!
