《RE:Origin》C13 The Difference

After leaving the library, I immediately head straight back to my room. As expected, I didn't come across anyone on my way there. It's already late in the night, I'm worried that my sister might still be awake since I wasn't there in the room. I also couldn't help but think of the worst that can happen, which was her leaving the room, searching for me on her own. With that in my mind, I increase my pace, hurrying toward my room while wishing she remains in the room.
When I arrived in front of my room, I sighed in relief upon sensing a familiar presence in the room. After taking a deep breath, I knocked on the door before opening it.
"Ryu-nii!" The figure laying on the bed quickly stood on her feet when she heard the door opened before charging straight at me. With a smile on my face, I stood strong and took the full brunt of her charge by receiving her in a hug. If it had been anyone else, they would have been grimaced from the impact since she no longer holds the strength of an ordinary person.
"I'm sorry for my late return, I tend to forget time when I'm reading books," I muttered while my free hands softly patting her on the head as to console her. She didn't say anything but shake her head while still embracing me. With a sigh, I picked her up into a princess carry before heading toward the only bed in the room.
When I tried removing herself from me, her hands didn't budge, it wrapped tightly around my waist. I guess she must have been worried that I might disappeared on her again. She was the type to keep her trouble bottling inside of her after all. With a wry smile on my face, I and along with my sister clinging closely to me, lay comfortably on the bed.

"How did your training goes?" Because I was too focused in the sparing, I don't have the time to look at my sister. Plus, if I were to do that, I would without a doubt be rebuked harshly by the Commander for looking away in the middle of the battle. It also didn't help that the prideful kid that was chasing after my sister was also training with me.
Which was why, when I saw the kid turning his gaze over the girls, I would immediately sell him out to the Commander like what a true loyal soldier would do. Of course he got criticized harshly as a result. I had never felt so satisfied the moment the kid glared fiercely at me as if he wanted nothing more than strangling me to death. Well, the Commander did say he was somewhat disappointed with the way he acted, while praising me to no end. I had a feeling I was all smug at the time, but maybe that was just my imagination.
I wouldn't go that far for a kid like him. I'm not that childish, am I? You bet I do, and damn right I am. No one should ever dream of getting together with my little sister in my presence, especially someone with a prideful personality like Isamu.
"Ugh, training... All they ever say was to memorize long and difficult words that almost sound gibberish to me, even studying isn't all that difficult! It would look like a child beside an adult if I were to put them side by side. Having a magician class is amazing, they said. My future is bright, they said. Stop kidding me!" And so on, she complained non-stop. Other than nodding my head to her sometimes while also playing with her hairs, I did nothing but listened to her complaints as quietly as I could. I was told I'm a good listener because I don't disturb them during their monologues.

More like, I don't bother listening further. I was talking about my boss in this case. Though she was my boss, there are still people who rank higher than hers, so no doubt she was also troubled by them. Because of her outstanding look, they would always look for a chance to pick bones with her. Thinking about it, I wonder how she was doing. At least when I was there, I could handle some work on her behalf. That's exactly what I did, I wasn't lying when I said it felt like working with a black company. The pay is also good, but if I wasn't fit as I am, maybe I might have gotten sick somewhere along the line.
With that thought in mind, I couldn't help but be worried. Are they still picking a fight with her? In a way, though she might be the same age as me, I somehow look out for her the same way I did to my little sister. Maybe that's why she always depends on me whether the work was too much for her, am I getting what I sowed?
Now back to magic, it seems that whoever was teaching my sister, they are aiming for her to amass knowledge first before real practice. Plus, is it even worth memorizing it? It just felt weird to me that a librarian can teach me better than the one sent to my sister. I get the idea that knowledge is important, but that would take a lot of time, and by the time Ayumi took her first practice, I might be able to fly in the sky already. Well I may have exaggerated it quite a bit, but that was truly what I felt.
They should learn from Lisa where she removed all the useless knowledge and only teach me the important parts. If she were to do the same as my sister's instructor, I might end up focusing more into those useless knowledge than the critical points. If I were to line the two side by side, Lisa is a much better teacher than Ayumi's magic instructor.
A thought of teaching the real knowledge I learned from Lisa to my sister did appear in my mind, however, I didn't act on it. Judging by the look on Lisa's face when I learned to control my mana so quickly, it has to be a big deal. If my sister were to do the same, she would only be bringing unwanted attention toward her, which would be a problem for my plan.
For now, I should let her amass those knowledge first. It isn't a bad thing per se, I can just teach her later when the timing is right, or when we would already be out of this castle. I should also do my best to memorize all the important parts, after all, this knowledge would be the power for my sister's survival.
