《Revenge By Name》Virtuses Companion

I look at her dumbfounded. What the hell did she just say? Male companion? Am I being extorted again? “Listen, I am not interested in whatever you're offering, as it seems like my well being may be in jeopardy even talking to you.” Her eyes look to the ground and she begins to fidget. Was I too mean? No, absolutely not, I'm the victim here, right? Looking at my hands is a different story. I almost wish it was my blood.
“I will not accept that!”I look up to her again. She’s not even looking at me anymore, she's clearly not a threat. Come to think of it, she's really non-threatening. I didn’t even get a good look at her. No protection, a hoodie so large that it covers her shorts. Fair skin, brown hair, did she just get out of bed? Is this her house? What a fool, finishing her here would be so simple. Her eyes look up catching me staring, quickly looking away. “Y-you need to be my male companion or else I-I’ll”. She closes her eyes, she is very desperate…wait Virtus? Altho quite a prestiged family, has quite a major flaw, what does she want me to be male companion? My eyes widened. “You need to awaken the Virtus sigil, right?” Her eyes widen, her nervousness seems to fade away. “Yes, yes, yes, that way I can finally live up to my full potential!”. I’m glad I didn’t kill her, her spirit would be detrimental to my goal. Virtus, the god was once a sign of strength and justice in the days of old. However the creepy old bastard had a less than acceptable requirement to use his strength, to use any spiritual power you must be accompanied by a male companion to use anything. This has almost brought their downfall countless times. Which is probably why this building isn’t the most prestigious looking home for a high class family. It takes a while for them to find a companion, which seems strange to me. “Won’t any male do?” I ask her, and she begins fidgeting again. “Not exactly…” She pauses, clearly debating whether to tell me or not. Looking back at me, “I can only use the spiritual power of Virtus equal to that of my partner.” I know she's telling the truth, she thinks she can’t lose anything considering my assumed power. “But I don’t have any spiritual power, what use am I?” I question her. She breathes in deeply, is she telling me more than she's supposed to? “I think you are Virtuses companion.'' She speaks quietly, almost scared to be heard. Virtuses companion…I can see why they’d think that I as its common knowledge that I am spiritless, “What does that actually mean for me?” I push further, “It would give me access to all of Virtuses spiritual power.”
All of it!? That's ridiculous, no one can obtain a spirit's full power. I look the girl up and down again, shes obviously pretty stupid, is she even any use to me? Why am I thinking this way again? I have to keep my conscience in check otherwise I might hurt someone again…I shudder at the thought, I need to hold onto whatever humanity I have left, otherwise I'm just gonna be another Jason. “Alright, I'll do it.” Why not really? I can only gain in this scenario. If I pretend to be the Virtus companion she can tap into my large pool of spiritual power, and should very easily be able to protect me from Jason. I should be just over double Jason's power, I’d say I’m sorry to Guy, but that demon only wants death, I refuse to apologize for the cards the spirits have played me. “Really!” She runs up to me suddenly, eyes glistening. I tuck into myself even further, she's too close. “Let’s start now!” She grabs onto my arm, “Woah, hold on what about my blood and stuff?!” I shout startled, I can’t pull away. She's stupidly strong, does she even need spiritual power? “Oh right, go get cleaned, she pulled me out of the bedroom. This building was much bigger than my apartment, I can see so many rooms…pulling me in front of one of the rooms pushing me through without even opening the door. “Time for you to shower ok! Be quick!” Throwing me a towel, and the clothes she had thrown to me on the bed, and then slamming the door. That was fast. After giving in to her demands, almost completely abandoning any of my necessities.

The shower was quite long and awful, altho it felt good to feel a hot shower for the first time in a long time. The apartment building I live in required a ridiculous cost for hot water. However all the water dropping was red. It felt like I was drowning in my own sins. I watched as all the red gloops of life fell down the drain. The clothes she has given me fit kind of well. Looking into the mirror, I don’t look bad…despite my tired eyes, I look like your normal teenager. This has to work, if I can just use Trinity's new found power to carry me through my life I should be fine. I can ride off her success until I find the opportunity to be rid of her. Taking a deep breath in, I exit the bathroom. Entering the hallway, I can hear voices talking at the end where it seems to open up into a larger room. I can’t really make out what they’re saying, but I was right about this house. I haven’t seen so many rooms in a place since my family lived in the hestia mansion. Maybe they’re better off than I expected. I frown wondering why I was set up in some random storage room. Probably the blood. Reaching the end of the hallway it opens up to a lounge room, I can make out the discussion or more of an argument, I recognise Trinity's voice but there's another womans,
“Why him? You know we have special circumstances for the companion and you said you aren’t even friends with him!” I walk into the room and she goes quiet, she looks exactly like Trinity but older, her Mother? “So you’re…Reto?” she queries. Peering at me, “Haha, it’s Redo yeah.” I respond nervously. She walks closer from the center of the room. “Do you realize how much tradition you break by becoming the male companion?” She scoffs, “You’d be the first companionship in generations not coming from romance, let alone even friendship!”. That was news to me, but there was no chance in hell I was dating her daughter, especially with her…Ineptitude for intelligence. “Listen mom the new generation doesn’t abide to your stupid tradition.” Pouting as arms crossed on the couch, to the right of the room, they’d clearly been arguing since I existed the shower, the mother starts up again, “First you brought in a random bloodied up student and you’re already setting him up for life, did you even take into consideration he could be using you for your title?”, She says pointedly at me. She may be rude but shes right on the money. “He would never!” Trinity cries out. “He's basically a hero, taking beatings daily for our benefit, and I’ve never seen him blame anyone!” How nice for her I sigh, is that how the whole school thinks? That I feel privileged and humble about being sexually assaulted and beaten regularly. “Well..” the mom crosses her eyebrows in frustration, “I guess he’ll do then.” She gets up into my face. “But you better treat her well you hear?”. Her tone assertive, “Yes ma’am” I respond quickly, faking a smile. My eyes flick over trinity who's grinning wildly with a large thumbs up. Is this what a normal household is like? The mother walking to a set of curtains, “Trin I know this is your floor but you really have to let some natural light in.” Light spewing in. It's daytime already?

The rest of the morning was really quite strange, there was no stress. Trinity didn’t even have to make meals, servants came in and served it to her, and even me. I could really get used to this. Even the food was incredible, I couldn’t even finish one plate, filled with fruits and meat. It almost seemed like too much. Looking back at Trinity I could see how she could build up so much muscle.
“So How is this gonna work?” I ask her, a servant coming and collecting my plate. Trinity is still plowing into her breakfast looking up to me, “Oh only a few minor changes, that I’m sure you’ll get used to.” She states going in for another mouthful. “And what would they be?” I gesture with my arms to explain further. “Well this is where what mom had said comes into play, with the whole romantic relationship thing.” she tells me, I was quite curious why such a tradition was necessary, “The reason our family made it their tradition was because of the conditions set to activate Virtuses sigil, Condition one being the Companion must be male.” Putting her index finger out to me, “2nd is that the companion must be willing to share power, and the 3rd being the user and companion must remain within 10 meters of each other for 24 hours.” TWENTY FOUR HOURS. What the hell kind of estranged spirit are you, Virtus. I put my palm to my forehead, I can see why the name guy has it out for them. “So I have to stay by your side for what?” I look around for a clock failing to find one, “Well indefinitely hopefully,” She states, her tone unwary of the extreme statement she just spouted. “But if you mean for the vigil to trigger then roughly 23 more hours.” , “and does this include where we sleep?” My tone was maybe abit to abrasive, as she fidgets in her seat. “If its to much of a problem you don’t have to be the companion.” What a bold thing to say after being very clear it was my only option prior. Whatever, I can manage with these conditions, the only major repercussions being the mental drain she might possess on my overall intellect. Though I blame nothing more than her wealthy upbringing on her lack of brain power. I close my eyes for a second. I need this to work out, I don’t need vengeance on Jason if I can just live a comfortable life without any troubles. “H-hey” I open my eyes to see Trinity looking away, fidgeting again. “You can’t sit still can you.” I laugh. “Shut up, I fidget when I'm nervous!”, “ha, and what could I possibly make you nervous about?”. Knowing full well I could end her right here and now. “Well, just don’t do anything stupid!” She pouts, “My dad has told me how boys can get!”. I shake my head slowly, “I swear You’ll be fine around me.” I reassure her. I do understand where she is coming from though, basing anything off of Jason is a bad idea but I can’t help but think about how he treats Claire. What if Trinity was with Jason. That would be a menacing combo, but by the sound of it Trinity doesn’t seem very fond of him either. Not that Jason would go for her, He’d judge her for being too “Buff”. Idiot, regardless of gender a strong ally is a strong ally. “What are you thinking about?” She's standing next to me now. I didn’t notice. I really need to stop dissociating so easily. “Just worrying about my belongings I left at my place, sorry!”. She smiles kindly, “We can get it today then! I mean we have time to kill and may as well enjoy our sunday!”. Right...enjoy.

Steamforged Sorcery [A Steampunk LitRPG]
This is a fantasy story in a steampunk setting, not a sci-fi. The Great War ravaged the face of the earth many years ago. In the years that passed, the world rebuilt, mixing machinery and magic to form something new. Great blimps took to the sky, belching steam and smoke as metal cities sprouted like weeds below. Angel, a talented mage, scours the desert endlessly in search of lost knowledge. When it unexpectedly falls into his hands, he quickly comes to realize that the world is far larger – and far more deadly – than he ever could have predicted. But no amount of danger is going to keep Angel from seeking out greater strength and traveling the world, claiming all the greatest treasure that it has to offer. To most, the desert is a dangerous threat to be feared. To Angel, it’s a land of opportunity, waiting to be exploited. Steamforged Sorcery is, as the title suggests, a LitRPG Steampunk story with heavy focus on magic and scenery. The main character starts out relatively strong (but far from overpowered) but will eventually grow in strength to incredible levels. It is moderately paced and does not progress at ridiculous speeds. Release Schedule: 1,500 words daily Monday-Friday

When nineteen-year-old Cyrus met Lyda at a restaurant, he broke the norm of his life cleaning up his brothers' messes and keeping them behaving to avoid causing issues for the public.
