《Thalia Prince》Chapter 7

“So are you gonna tell me what’s so funny or are you gonna just stand there?” She questioned, raising her right eyebrow while speaking.
By now she had adjusted her bed so that she was sitting up a bit but her body was still reclined. I was standing there staring at her not saying a word. But in my defense, the only time I’ve talked to her was when I was taking her coffee order. I’ve never even liked anyone before, how am I supposed to act?
Do you understand how confusing this is for me? Half a second ago my instincts were putting me in revenge mode and now I’m standing here not knowing what to say or do like a confused puppy. I’m not stupid I know that this obviously has something to do with the anger issues I have, I just don’t know what’s causing it. I don’t even know half of the creatures on this land. How could I possibly know what’s been happening to me? And another thing, what happened to my parents?!
Every time I think about asking, something new happens that interrupts and distracts me. And while I’ve been standing here for the past 5 minutes thinking about my emotional distress, Natalia, the headmaster, and Ashley have been standing there staring at me. Why didn’t they just say something instead of staring at me, don’t they know how creepy this is?
I’m almost unreservedly sure that they’ve been taught manners and common sense just like anyone else. With that being said, their common sense is probably different than mine considering common sense on earth means that there is no such thing as magic.
“While watching you mentally combust is quite amusing I would much rather get on to the more important matters that we must discuss.” The headmaster said smirking, before chuckling a bit and tilting her head. I’ve really gotta stop getting caught in my thoughts though, it's really embarrassing.
“Of course, but umm, what exactly is this important matter? It hasn’t been a couple of days yet and I’m almost certain the elf lady won’t appreciate us talking about what happened without her.” Well, you can never call me inconsiderate see? I’m being considerate right now. Although does it really count since she’s a healer and we need her to be here? Meh, I say it counts.
I’m just confused on why she’s awake so soon. It’s literally been like thirty minutes. I guess we underestimated how fast her body would heal because this is ridiculous. She said a couple of days, not a couple of minutes. I’d say I’m astonished but I’m mostly just confused. You’d think I’d be used to it by now with all of the surprises that have been thrown my way.
“One of the important matters I was speaking of is how fast Natalia has healed. Yes, Natalia is what you humans call supernatural but she has never healed so fast before. This could be either incredibly good or very harrowing. I’ll go get Emma and be right back. Then we can finish this discussion.” She replied before she quickly turned around and walked out the door.

Well that’s just great. They can even make healing quickly something scary. And I’m going to assume that Emma is the healer that helped Natalia.
And why do I think so much? Maybe I should just stop thinking. Then again that is part of my charm. I give myself an imaginary little wink and two-finger guns in my head. Except I don’t think it was just in my head considering Natalia, while watching me, scrunched up her face and turned her head to look away. I’m positive she doesn’t wanna know what's going on inside my head if she found that strange.
Right when she turned her head back toward the door both Emma and the headmaster quickly walked back into the room. Considering how big the school was in my dream I’m surprised that they could get here so quickly.
“Now that I’m back and Emma is here we should talk about what’s going on.” The headmaster said before waving her hand, a chair appearing right behind her. She sat down, getting comfortable before looking at me and tilting her head, looking a little confused. She shook her head realizing I don’t have magic of my own before poofing a chair behind me so that I could get comfortable as well.
And what has Ashley been doing this whole time? She’s been slowly backing herself into a corner in the room. Literally. And once she finally reached her isolated kingdom she leaned her back against the wall. She must have less social interaction than I do. And that’s saying something since I’ve basically been forced into captivity my whole life. I laughed to myself quietly. It’s not like I have much room to talk.
“We all know why this happened so why not just get straight to the point.” Natalia spoke, no doubt knowing something that I haven’t been told yet.
“If that’s what you wish then so be it. Your twin flame is strengthening you. The more time you spend growing accustomed to her the more in tune you will become with your soul. But know that the other Omadas are already very cautious around you. You are already strong and unique, something that the people are scared of.” She says.
“Whilst our society requires unity all they do is try and separate themselves from you. To them, you are a separate entity. And while I do not see you as a threat they do. My opinion is merely circumstantial and they do not care much for it.” Spoke Emma, who was sitting with a straight face throughout her whole speech. And when did she even sit down in the first place? How the heck did I miss that when I’m literally looking right at her?!
“I already know what these people think of me, Emma. I’ve been hearing these same things since I’ve been a child. I think I’d know about my own affinity for darkness. Or maybe it’s more of the shadow’s fondness for me. But I also know as well as you do that those same people that hate me are the same ones who need me the most.” Natalia said seemingly about having to speak on this topic.

“For the longest time, our realm has prided itself on our diversity and unity. Yet if this were true then why do these people hate me so much? They don’t hate me because of the darkness, they hate me because of my power. And things like that will never change because my power never dampens, it just grows.” Natalia finished, speaking -powerfully pressing the button on her bed to fully sit up, almost as if creating the illusion of dominance.
“And no matter how many assassins they send my way I won’t die. I’m almost surprised that you didn’t figure it out, mom. I mean based on the wounds it wouldn’t have been hard to figure out that the queen sent some of her personal Umbra against me.” The headmaster let out a short gasp at hearing Natalia say this. And the plot thickens.
Why would the queen be sending assassins after one of her own? It seems almost unfeasible after hearing all about how upstanding Eatithra is. I guess no matter what realm you live in there are no good leaders.
“Don’t make accusations you can’t prove Natalia, you know the consequences.” The headmaster spits out before getting up and storming out of the room, knocking over her chair on the way out.
Oh wow, talk about being a good mother. She didn’t even think about Natalia’s feelings on the matter; and yet I can feel the worry she has for her daughter. Maybe the consequences she was talking about are just that bad. I think maybe I would be that worried too if I knew what the repercussions could be.
“Don’t worry Natalia. You know your mother means well. She only cares about your well-being and you know that if you had told anyone else this they would take you straight to the queen. And everyone knows that the queen doesn’t take accusations lightly.” Ashley said to Natalia, trying to reassure her.
“Between us though, I believe that it wasn’t her. We all know she’s always had it out for you but the reality of the situation is a bit more grave. I am a Seer, meaning there are things I know that others never will. So let me tell you something that will be very important in the near future. You too Thalia, you must know this as well. When the time comes, save the queen and leave the king behind.” She said to us cryptically, finally done lurking and hiding in the shadows of the room.
I won’t lie, I’m already making assumptions about what has happened and I hope that I’m wrong. I decided to break my quiet streak and try to find out for myself.
“What exactly do you mean by that? Why spare the queen and not the king?” I don’t quite understand what she’s getting at, but deep in my heart, I understand exactly what she means.
The queen needs our assistance.
But with what or from whom? Well, I think considering the context of what Ashley just said, the answer is very obvious. And if he really is the one who's behind the attacks against Natalia when the queen regnant is supposed to be in charge tells us everything we truly need to know.
In a sense, it’s like a coup d'etat. An unknown one though. The queen who is supposed to be in charge is being controlled by an abusive king.
But does this mean that in this case the king is stronger than the queen, or is there something he has against her? I decided to voice my question knowing that we need all the information we could get for such an important subject matter.
“How is the king the one calling the shots? Is he stronger than the queen or is he blackmailing her with something?” I asked Ashley hoping that she could at least answer this question.
“In our realm, the female royal line is generally more powerful than the males. That includes our current queen. As to how she’s being controlled? Well, even I don’t know the answer to this question.” Okay great, that was basically no help at all. The only thing I learned from that is that females are generally stronger than males. Well, it’s better than the earth realm where the men use their strength to take advantage of women.
This time it was Natalia that spoke up.
“Well if the queen is as strong as she should be then there is no way that the king is physically able to force the queen to do anything. Which means he knows something about the queen that we don't and it could be why she's letting him control her.” Natalia said tilting her head a bit, most likely getting lost in thought.
It’s a little scary to think about considering I just got here but it’s obvious that I play a role in whatever is going on here.
I guess Emma was done listening to this conversation because she stood from her seat and turned to face me and Natalia.
“No matter the reason or no matter the cause Natalia has healed quickly. This gives you more time to train and study. The tests to see which Omada you’re in are taking place two fortnights from now.” My disgust and misery must have shown on my face because she turned to look at me before yelling a quick ‘Well what are you waiting for! Let’s get to it!’ and pulled me out of my chair. I am not prepared for this. Let’s just hope it doesn’t hurt as much as I think it’s going to.

House Candor, one of the six great houses that helped build the Eldoran Empire had been erased from history. With no home, no family, and only death waiting for him, Jayce decided to escape north to the uncharted Northern Territories to begin a new life. Forced into situations he was never prepared for and trying to cope with his past, Jayce tries to find safety in a place spoken about only in legends. There for the first time, he will make true friends and find people he will come to see as family. He will encounter strong enemies, build powerful alliances, and become a person his ancestors would be proud of. But surrounded by creatures he thought only existed in tales and pressed by the Empire’s constant expansion, Jayce’s safety may be only an illusion. To survive a world fraught with danger Jayce will need to grow stronger with each new experience and rebuild his once forgotten house. ********************************************************************** Note: The story starts slow. Although there is more action as the story progresses, there is a fair amount of introspection and character introduction in the first 30 chapters. Jayce is the main character, however, other characters play a large role and the story is seen through multiple POV's. This is a draft, it is not a finished work. This is not a story that focuses on an OP MC who beats up on weaklings. At times there can be a fair amount of internal monologue. Some of that may be edited out when I rewrite the story. I decided to keep it in the draft because I think it is better to have too much material rather than too little when I edit. Constructive criticism is appreciated as it helps in the editing and rewriting process. Check out my other story Shattered Mind here

The Book of Rune
If you like moderately well-researched semi-medieval military logistics with some fantasy twists, and also conspiracy, and exploration, and violence, and maybe a dash of road movie, hey, Ruen just might be your thing. Plot-wise, basically there's a guy who got fired by Death, a kid with pyrotechnic tendencies, and a slave general who wouldn't mind retiring but ended up on a mass suicide mission. If you were looking for a less TL;DR version, a guy who got fired by Death meets a kid with pyrotechnic tendencies, and they try to get the guy un-fired while also trying to come to terms with death together (ooohhhh, look, I'm deep). Meanwhile a slave general does something stupid and ends up being sent on a suicide mission, and he tries to wreak havoc and save lives at the same time. The threads come together, I swear. This is a rough draft of a fantasy semi-book that I've had in the back of my head for some time. I've written a variety of short stories set in the world over the past three years, and I finally kicked myself into writing the actual story. Very much a slow work in progress. Occasional violence (okay, well, maybe more than occasional), occasional foul language.

Monstrous Path
This story is both dark and lighthearted, it will have a lot of deaths and gore scenes but not just for the sake of being edgy or something like that. Every being comes from someone’s life — a womb, an egg, the world, a God, and from itself. Then what about me? I came from a container, so what does that make me? Am I still a being? “I do not know — I want to understand — why?” This was my driving force to live when I opened my eyes, I had no need for food, I only needed to satiate my curiosity. But as I learned early on, life was not as simple as it seemed. Note: The Characters in this world would always have a reason for living, and the world moves not just because of the MC. This would also have a lot of tearjerking scenes (or so I would hope) Culture, Race, Government, and Language can and will be different and though some Races like Elves and Dwarves are present, please do not think that they are the same as every other.
