《Where is my head, Haro?!》Chapter 11 - The Garden of Memoir
Advertisement
It is my fourth morning in Aeris and I still don't remember anything about my name, my parents, where I come from and why I am here. No one told me. I only heard whispers, many of them and I don't know what should I believe.
"Many guards walking in this way"
They stop in front of my room's door.
"Knock, knock"
"Human, get ready to meet the King! We will wait for you here." said one of them
I was already dressed and practice walking and some basic manners.
"Yes, Sir.!"
Going outside I see 4 guards staring at me but without expressing any emotion.
They are sure looking down on me, like the other elves I met.
"This way!" he says guiding me
On the way to the throne room, I realize that there are no more elves around, other than those who accompany me, four guards and Royal Adviser with who I met near the Throne Room. The hallways are nearly empty, those who are around the servants.
Two guards open the doors and we enter.
Wow! So beautiful!
The Throne Room, an extremely tall room with large windows on the white wall on the right, with gigantic carved pillars representing warrior elves, with patterns of flowers and leaves made of gold on the left wall, with a huge gold chandelier that could crush three-quarters of the elves standing here.
To the right side of the room are the nobles, so many that they occupy 5 meters wide and 40 lengths from the middle of the throne room and up to the steps leading to the throne. On the left side are the knights some guards and behind them, some of the servants.
All of them look back when we enter. The King was sitting on the throne with his daughter beside him.
We reach in front of the little stairs, the 4th guards line up on the left side of the room, I bow and Sir. Daren introduces me.
"Your Majesty, this is the human we rescued." as I bowed
"Sir, this is the King of Elerinelo, one of the 4th great Kingdoms of this world and the person next to his is Princess Saphielle Naeyra, his Majesty's daughter." said Daren
"Whispers"
The Throne Room gets agitated, the elves whisper about Sir. Daren calling me "Sir".
"How can a traitor can be called Sir?"
"Is that a human? We shall feed the birds with him."
"Be quiet!" sais the king as he raises a hand
"Now tell me, human kid, do you remember anything about what happened to you before coming here?" sais the king with a calm voice
"I don't remember, Your Majesty. Every time I try to remember I get a bad feeling that hurts..." I put my right hand on my chest

"We are the elves, we know more things about memories than any other race so I know that you have a chance to remember your past. Sir Daren!" says The King
The Royal Adviser opens a mini gate and extracts a crystal globe.
"Sir, I will now show you the images we took from the village you come from. Prepare yourself!" in his eyes I could read the concern
The globe starts to shine and then shows all the images.
Everyone was quiet, the globe couldn't replay sounds, only one thing could be heard.
"Ba-domm, Ba-domm, Ba-domm" heartbeats
My head hurts, it hurts so bad... I grab my head with my hands and try to look at everything the globe shows. Around I heard the elf's hidden laughter and I began to remember little by little as I watched as the people of the village were killed with cold blood by the guards who had been infected with some sort of spell.
I remember now!
My parents, the villagers.. they are all dead...
Even if the globe did not play the sounds, I could hear the screams, the wind and the sound of fire burning the whole village. I could hear the sound of the spear piercing my mother's chest and belly while, with the last breath, she asked me to run.
I fell on my knee with my face placed on the floor and start to cry.
"It's enough, Sir Daren. I think he remembers now. It is too cruel for him to watch again those images." said Princess Saphielle Naeyra
"As you wish!" he stops the images and put the globe back
After he put the globe back, he knee and put his hand on my back to check if I'm ok.
"Sir. Daren, since you get to know the man, take him to the Little Garden for the moment."
"Yes, Your Highness!"
We leave the Throne Room with two guards following us and go up to the fourth floor of the castle.
Arriving in a room with many doors we enter the one that leads to the north wing of the castle. We go on a long corridor that has many flower pots from which green roots flow and extend on the round wall of the hallway forming a green tunnel with pink flowers. We go out in a huge garden full of flowers, trees, and land ... even a lake.
The garden was a kind of greenhouse being covered by a round dome made of several hexagonal windows, one of three hexagons being made of a kind of crystal through which diffused light comes out.
"Wait here!" said Daren to the guards who stop at the entrance

"Let's have a walk, maybe you'll feel better." said Daren as I bow my head as a sign of approval
"The elves don't seem too happy for me being here." I said
"You can't blame us, the human race killed a lot of our people 500 years ago and became a force to be fear of. Since then, the world has changed and we lived only because we kept the distance from them. I can say that you have a good heart and that you have suffered and continue to suffer but remember that although not all elves like you because they believe that you are as the same as other humans, there are some who see beyond the appearance." walking by the lake
"In these times you should think about your good memories and about what your parents wanted for you to do when you grow up." Daren adds
"Thank you, Sir Daren! You are a good guy also." kicking in the fallen leaves
"You can call me Daren when we are alone."
I lost everyone that loved me in this world but I haven't lost my dad from my previous life. I think he died of old age which makes me feel happier than the parents of this world who were massacred by zombies with cruelty. I would like to honor his memory.
"Then you can call me Haro."
"That's a nice name!" he nods and smiles
We saw a wooden bridge over the lake leading to a white wooden Pavillon and we sat on a wooden couch.
"When the king said that elves know more things about memories than any other race, what is he meant about?"
"The elves can live up to 200 years and when we die no matter the cause, we reincarnate with all the memories of the past's lives. We can recall any memory from any past life. I can recall the memories from the battle but I choose not to because I would be consumed by hate. This is a blessing and also a curse because we can reincarnate only when a true blood elf is born and the born rate must be kept under control otherwise we risk that too many reincarnations in a short amount of time will bring a catastrophe. After several reincarnations, we lose memories starting with the remotest memories and up to the ones in today's life, until we forget how to breathe and die without reincarnating again."
"You can choose to recall bad memories and suffer or to recall good memories and live happily, It's your choice... Haro!"
I look down at my feet and try to think about the good memories.
Recalling some memories, the tears start to fall again.
"I remember when I walked for the first time in the village center with my mom. She was walking in front of me with a straw backpack on her back to the market. Although we descended from the hill where our house was, I still stayed behind because I had short legs and the road was full of small stones. It was sunny and it was warm outside, it smelled of grass and flowers and the wind was pushing me from behind.
I reached the market where she took me in her arms and allowed me to choose what vegetables we buy. I asked her many questions and I saw on her face how glad she was to ask her so much."
"I remember when I left home and went to my dad who was at work to surprise him. When I got close to the center of the village I wandered among the dozens of similar houses. People, horses, and carts went in all directions.
When a carriage almost passed over me, I got scared and ran away without looking, in this way I ran into my parents who were looking for me.
I thought they would punish me but in fact, they took me in their arms and told me not to leave again without telling them while they were crying for happiness that I was fine."
"These are good memories. You should value them!" he says and I nod as a sign of approval
"Shoe heels are heard"
"I'm sorry if I interrupted an important discussion but I wanted to talk with the human, alone." says Princess Saphielle Naeyra while holding her voluminous pink dress on the sides so she can climb the four steps of the Pavillon
We both get surprised to see the princess.
"Of course, I'll go to see the king for now." he swallows and shows a forced smile
"Your Highness, Sir... H-Haro!" bows and leaves
She walks in and asks:
"May I sit next to you, Sir Haro?" smiling
I feel uncomfortable in her presence and I wish I could avoid her but Sir Daren said 2 days ago that she may be the reason why I've got rescued so I am indebted to her.
"Sure!"
She sits down gracefully, opens a small gate and pulls out a pink fan that she holds in front of her, leaving only her green eyes glowing with passion, to be seen.
...
