《Crossing The Lands》2] - [Passage of Time]

The turbulent vortex within the empty void, this scene would be enough to collapse most souls. The void, a true prison to even the most powerful.

Even at his peak, Nine Skies Great Emperor Guizou would fear this place, most of the time that is.

Inside the jade pendant, Guizou was waiting patiently.

"Aiz, if I go to Heaven, honey will probably butcher me for using her pendant..."

After a month of strange fluctuations, Guizou could feel something different.

"Did I already fall into the Mortal Land? Not bad! Not bad indeed!"

Mortal Land, the first world of cultivation, where most began their cultivation journey. Its population was much more than the Fairy Land, but was also less enchanting. There were no floating islands, soaring dragons or even immortals. There were only the earth, the sky and the energies between Heaven and Earth.

This energy often called Qi.

Qi is a miraculous energy, capable of turning something disgracefully useless into something magical.

With proper knowledge, that is.

"If it's the Mortal Land, I should arrive soon, no?" Grumbling again and again, Guizou was beginning to feel the boredom of patience.

Finally, as if to appease his raging emotions, the jade pendant glowed a bright green.

Following its momentum, the void shivered, soon opening a fissure out of nowhere, hoping to kick this calamity out.

It had been around two months, two months and Guizou was finally out.

His soul peeking outside, he was a bit disappointed.

Nothing but grass...

Is someone supposed to find me here?

Cursing at his bad luck, he still decided to return inside the pendant. The inside whiteish, its void of life was obvious. It looked like any random storage artifact. Soon after, his ethereal figure started to move, forming hand seals with great flexibility.

The pendant glowing a bright red for a moment, it returned to its original green color.

Able to see everything the pendant could, Guizou nodded in satisfaction.

Feeding this insatiable pendant my own blood for so many years finally paid off. Do they think killing my body is enough? Did they believe this old master to not know any soul related stuff?

Admiring his own foresight while condemning the shadow's stupidity, Guizou waited.

And wait he did.

He waited for years.

For decades.

For centuries.

Once four centuries had passed, Guizou felt miserable.

Being secluded for centuries was not much to him, he had lived for a few tens of thousands of years, so nothing was wrong here.

The problem came from his soul. Even with the pendant's protection along the Mortal Land's inferior Qi, his soul still took the brunt of the impact.

The impact of time that is.

Without the pendant, even surviving a few decades would have shown itself miraculous. So one could see the pendant's divine ability. But in the end, it could not stop him from losing strength.

Guizou had already fallen into hibernation, hoping to preserve some leftover strength.

And as such, time flew while he slept.

On a cloudy day, along the mud and rain, in an empty field, a young man bent over. His action would seem odd to anyone, since he clearly did not intend to do so.

"Argh!" Rolling like a ball into the mud, the young man had dark blue hair. His white eyes shining deeply, he was soon kicked by a leg.

The leg was covered in white, untainted by the mud.

"Wu He! Your death is already predestined! Stop struggling, and this young master might let you live for a bit!"

Clawing at the ground, gouging out mud, the youth called Wu He did not pay much attention to his words.

Frowning, the man in white scoffed, and as he was about to strike, felt his heart skip a beat.

"Young master? What young master? We're both too old for this, take my move!" Like a crouching tiger pouncing on a flock of helpless sheep, Wu He took the initiative, sending a powerful punch to his opponent.

"Wu He! Do you truly expect this young master to show mercy now?! Take this!" Seeing the punch on his left, the man in white retaliated with his own left punch.

Two fists colliding, the mud all around was blasted apart violently.

Grunting, Wu He was forced a few steps back, while his opponent did not seem to feel anything.

"Wu He! Do you believe this young master to be an old dog like you?" Raising his head high with disdain, the man in white felt superior.

"How?! What did you do? How could you be a six thousand pounds Warrior?" Disbelief plastered all over his face, Wu He felt cold.

"Wu He, oh~ Wu He... You don't understand, do you? Your little Wu family cannot possibly comprehend the means of this young master!"

"So what if I broke through two minor realms? This young master can crush you like an ant! Do you truly believe this young master to have not held back at the last moment?"

Gnashing his teeth, Wu He felt humiliated, staring daggers at the man in white.

"Fine! Since it has come to this, don't blame this Wu for being impolite!" A crude looking ring on his finger shining brightly, the man in white could not help but frown.

"Wu He! How can a lowly four thousand pounds Warrior have a space ring?! Give it to me!" Disregarding defense, feeling high and mighty, the man in white ignored the dangers, braving his way forward in large strides.

"Hmph!" A beautiful spear appearing in his hand out of thin air, Wu He felt his strength soar.

"Take my move!" Stabbing forward, the spear howled at the wind, its sharpness pocking holes into the arrogant man in front.

Feeling the power hidden behind, the man in white could only curse, spittle raining everywhere.

"Wu He!!!" Clawing at the spear, his face turned from red to white in an instant, the spear impaling his hand with ease.

Blood gushing out, the man could not stop the spear from continuing forward, soon piercing his right pectoral.

Growling like a beast, the man in white parted his lips a few times, but could not say anything, blood flowing freely from his mouth.

"This is what you get for forcing my hand!" Pushing the spear further in, the mud soon turned red.

"Wu... He..!!" His eye wide open, the man in white had a look of wrath, his gaze unable to believe what had happened.

How could a four thousand pounds Warrior defeat a six thousand pounds one? The difference was like a child beating an adult.

His almost fading lucidity desperately holding on, he fixated his wide open eyes onto the spear.

"High... grade... Warrior... artifact..!"

Like a trapped beast about to be put down, the man roared to his murderer.

"Wu..."

"He..!!!"

With a thump, the man fell lifelessly on the ground.

Staring at the corpse, Wu He breathed a sigh of relief. Putting the spear away, he crouched next to the man. But before he could do anything, he looked behind. In the mud, a green jade pendant was shining under the rain.

"I... didn't feel wrong!" Remembering the moment he first fell in this area, he had clawed at the mud, feeling something different between his fingers.

Retrieving it, Wu He could not figure out why this pendant appeared here.

Did a woman accidentally lose it?

Not finding anything strange with it, the man pocketed the pendant without a care, ready to plunder the corpse in front.

I hope Yue likes it.

The passage of time unforgivable, the young man soon headed back to the Wu family near a city.

This family would soon become a clan. And as time flowed on, like a heartless river, the man named Wu He became old, and so did his wife Yue.

His descendants grew old as well.

And so did their own descendants.

Being the first generation of the Wu Clan, Wu He had managed to die as a nine thousand pounds Great Warrior.

Unfortunately, his clan soon degraded over time, less and less descendants managing to reach his height, until one day...

In a small stone tiled rectangular basin, surrounded by pillars, themselves supporting a roof surrounding the place, gifting shade to the lucky ones, two small youths.

Beaten to the ground, a young man raised his hands.

"I surrender! I surrender! Big brother, stop hitting me!"

"Wu Tian, you can't become a man if you can't handle your brother's beatings!" Raining down punches on a dark blue haired youth, another dark blue haired young man was feeling ecstatic.

Wu Tian, see how I turn you into a pig's head!

Unfortunately for him, an old man with long pale blue hair shouted from the side.

"Wu Xun! Stop! How can the future Clan Head act like this because of a piece of stolen cake? Think about your image!" Angrily scolding the man, the elder shook his head.

"Eighth elder, don't stop me! This is what he gets for stealing! As the future Clan Head, it is my duty to discipline the young!"

Watching the man continue, the eighth elder felt shocked by this rebellious young man.

Discipline the young? While Wu Tian is fourteen years old, you're not much older! There is only a single year of difference, so why are you two polar opposites? Ah~, what will the lady think?

Caught in a dilemma, the eighth elder was at a loss for words. If he acted on Wu Xun, he would offend the current Clan Head and draw himself in for a beating, but if he did the opposite, the young lady would make his ears bleed.

It's hard to be old...

I don't want to be old anymore...

His face contracting, a truly ugly sight, the elder seemed to have picked his poison. Turning around, he left.

"Ha!" Laughing coldly, Wu Xun would definitely reward this doting elder. And while looking down at the bruised man beneath him, he scoffed.

"Wu Tian, today you can't escape!"

Feeling indignant, Wu Tian could not do anything. Just the fact that his eldest brother only bruised him could be considered merciful. If he truly intended to, opening his skull with his bare fist would be an easy task.

Wu Tian was a mortal who did not receive enough education to cultivate, plotted against by the clan. As for Wu Xun, this big brother of his was currently a second layer Mortal Realm expert, a true genius of the entire Wu Clan.

Even the eighth elder, known for his high cultivation, was only a fourth layer Mortal Realm expert.

As for the Clan Head, no one knew for sure, but some rumors speculated that he already became a Warrior.

Bitterness filling his mouth, Wu Tian did not know what to do. The ones with the bigger fists were always the rightful ones.

The setting sun bathing them, one youth was walking away, while the other lied motionless in a pool of blood.

His tears and blood dried, he breathed deeply, watching the golden sky.
