The Shed’s Office
Lieutenant Harry Kendrick
BZZZZT!
The hologram screen flickered and the video came to a stop. Harry paused for a moment, remembering the last scene before it abruptly ended. I’m not expecting the ‘Destroyer’ to be Alcee’s benefactor, this could be troublesome. Even though Mario was a first-rate assassin, he could still be in danger if he would not be careful in battling against the fearsome warrior, who was a known veteran in war. Harry could not afford to lose his target, considering Alcee’s blood could be the cure to his daughter’s disease. He searched too far and wide for a Mythicales’ blood, and now the golden opportunity came, he decided to eliminate every hindrances that might come his way in securing such a valued commodity.
“Dessa, come here for a moment. I need you to do something for me,” Harry called through the intercom as he glanced at the faraway Troy, who was now accompanied by a girl.
“Yes, Lieutenant Harry. I’d be there in a few sec.”
“Over and out.”
Harry went towards the see-through glass, looking intently at the duo. As he waited for his secretary to arrive, he took out his Electobag from his pocket and began to procure out his favorite KitKat candy bar and his weapons: the saber and the dual pistol. Everytime he was about to face a hard battle, it was his habit to tinker his weapons and eat KitKat to relax his mood.
While he was doing this, the door flew open and a blonde female in brown military clothes came in.
“Reporting to duty, Sir!”
“SIt down, honey, I have to trouble you with something. And stop calling me, Sir, no one’s here now.”
“Ha ha ha. Yes, honey.”
Dessa locked the door and walked towards Harry in a flirtatious way, until she stopped as she noticed the saber, dual pistol and KitKat bar sprawled on the table. She smiled, and reached out for his lips, kissing him. Harry, being a hot-blooded male, accepted the move and began french kissing her as his hands wandered on her skirt. She began to moan as Harry licked her earlobes, fully smelling the floral scent of her body. They began to undress, and soon, moaning and groaning of a man and a woman filled the entire room.

“You know me too well, don’t you?” Harry reached out for his military garb as he dressed himself after the lovemaking. Looking at the naked Dessa, who was now sitting on the table, he revealed a toothy grin, then laughed like a child. “I’m so lucky to have someone like you, honey, a beautiful fox and a dependable one as well.”
“Flatterer,” Dessa muttered, still lying at the table while fiddling her hair. “I know for a fact that every time your saber and pistol are out with a KitKat bar near you, it means you’re going to a battle. So I just helped you relaxed your body since I know your body needs sex before you fight, right?”
Harry, who was now looking at the mirror, scratched his head as he glanced at Dessa. “Well, sorry. I can’t help it, you know. Since Jessica died, my body just…”
“Let’s stop talking about your dead wife,” Dessa muttered icily as she stood up and began putting on her clothes as well. “I know you’re now in a hurry, so what’s the thing you have wanted me to do?”
“Dessa, this is a confidential matter. Consider this as a personal request to you.”
“Okay, honey. Spill the beans”
Harry chuckled heartily as he grabbed the KitKat bar and took a bite. “This time I have finally found a Mythicales.”
Dessa was wide-eyed as she heard Harry’s reply. Every military personnel working at the city knew his daughter’s fate and her need of a Mythicales’ blood. Smiling, she clapped her hands, acting like a happy child. “Well, what do you want me to do?”
“Do you see that boy at the reception office?” Harry pointed at the see-through glass.
“The one who’s talking to a military, wait, is he talking to your robot clone?”
“Ha ha, yes.”
“Yes, he’s just there to stall them. Anyway, I need you to find someone who can spy on their actions, their exams, as well as investigate their backgrounds. I don’t know about the girl, but the boy’s name is Troy.”
“Of course, I can easily do that, honey” Dessa confidently answered as she took a seat on a vacant chair. “But why? Is this related to the Mythicales?”

“Yes, honey. For now, this is the only thing that I can disclose to you, for I don’t want you to be in trouble, okay?” Harry kissed her forehead and put his hands on her shoulders, looking at her intently. “For now, I’m going to the Black forest with some personal guards. I’d explain later.”
“Okay,” Dessa sighed as she gazed at him with a loving look, her eyes began to redden. “Take care for me, it’s an order.”
Harry chuckled as he stood straight and made a salute, shouting, “Ma’am, yes ma’am.”
Dessa laughed as well, pinching Harry’s waist as she stood up and wrapped her arms on his neck. “Is there anything else you want me to do, Lieutenant Harry?”
“Take care for me. See you later.”

The Great Lodge
Troy Jenner
“Do you think Alcee’s okay?” Tori whispered to Troy as she rubbed her palms on her cheeks, her body slightly trembling.
Troy tried to grabbed her waist as he wanted to take this chance so as to further deepen their romantic relationship, if there was any. But the moment his hands touched her body, it was as if she was electrocuted, jumping slightly as she gave a small ‘eep’ sound.
“What are you doing?! That’s harassment! For once, be a gentleman in your life!”
“Hey, I was just trying to make you relax, I’ve meant no harm. No need to growl like an enraged tigress.”
“Yeah, right. Whatever.”
Tori rolled her eyes as she walked ahead of Troy, grumbling like a child. As she was about to reach the Lodge’s gate, she turned back as she faced Troy with a stern look. She lifted her right hand, only her pinkie finger was pointed as her other fingers were closed, and snickered while saying, “I’ve seen everything this morning, naked and all. Being a man, this pinky finger is all your worth.”
Troy felt his blood rushed at his face, his eyes wide-eyed, not believing that Tori could be so ruthless. No, anything but that. Please tell me I’m dreaming. He felt like retorting to what she had said, but the only thing he was able to do was open his mouth.
“What are you waiting for? We’re still halfway before the day is done, but I’m already exhausted.” Tori’s countenance was now calm, unlike earlier when her face was beet red due to anger. It seemed that she was able to relax after her remarks towards him.
Troy stared blankly at her as he walked towards the gate. The only thing that escaped from his lips was a grunt.
A long queue of young people was already waiting at the front of the reception office the moment Troy and Tori arrived at the Great lodge. He suspected that these youths were also here for the annual examination, and because of the heavy tension in their faces, he couldn’t help but feel nervous as well, already forgetting Tori’s remark earlier.
“Wow, what a huge crowd!” Tori’s eyes were wide-eyed as she looked at the chattering people. She was about to ran to the edge of the queue when all of a sudden, a young man appeared beside her and directly grabbed her arm. A shrill scream escaped from Tori’s mouth, echoing throughout the area, making all the youth turned their heads toward her.
“Loriel, learn to be discreet. Don’t scare the poor girl.”
The dark-haired Loriel released Tori’s arms as he did a backward flip, posing as he stood straight while doing a ‘peace’ hand sign. The beautiful blond lady, dressed in a military uniform, chuckled as she walked towards Troy and Tori.
Troy was flabbergasted; he didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at the scene because of the serious look of the man named Loriel which contradicted his comedic pose. He could see Tori’s wide-eyed face as her mouth was wide open due to shock factor.
“No need to be surprised, missy!” Loriel exclaimed mirthfully, combing his disheveled hair, and extended his right hand, saying “Pleased to meet your acquaintance, exalted beauty.”
Before Tori could reply, the blond lady grabbed Loriel’s extended hand, squeezing it gently, which made him grimaced in pain.
“Ow! Ow!”
“Stop that, Loriel, we’re not here to do your monkey business,” the blond lady replied in an icy manner, looking straight at Tori and Troy with a cheerful face, as if her previous actions were not related to her at all. “By the way, I’m Dessa Everheart. May I know what’s your name?”
Troy felt that there was something more to Dessa, and somehow he could feel dread seeping inside his body, as if he was facing someone not to be trifled with.

When she stumbles upon the chance to steal another's identity, she thinks she's found the ticket to an easy life. But she soon finds the glamour of the runewielder's hall hides as much peril as the bloodslick streets. It swings between action, drama, and sometimes some darker comedy. Warning: A whole lot of profanity, alcohol, drugs, implied violence, actual violence and mega-violence—the kind that involves knives sliding into eye sockets and brains spilling onto floors—the usual stuff, scenes of intimacy, mercenaries, pirates, lots of moral ambiguity, including a wizard that likes to make tea with the heat sucked from his victim's bodies and a heap of world-ending monsters ready to eat people. _______________ Expectations: Updates every Monday and Thursday. Chapters will be between 2,000 and 5,000 words. I'm Irish and write in "Irish English" which is to say that I don't use much of the letter "z"
