《Supreme saint》'I'm a direct disciple'

Just who among the disciples of Florin Valley Academy didn't take Reymon Kensa as their idol, or which female disciple didn't have weird fantasies about him?
Reymon Kensa walked up along with Anya to the front row of the hall, and they both took a seat next to each other. From the moment they stepped into the hall to the time they were seated, several astonished-looking eyes were glued onto them like magnets.
Just then, a middle-aged man walked into the hall. Everyone collectively retracted their attention that had wandered far astray by now. They stood and cupped their fists in unison saying:
"Greetings professor Mo"
Professor Mo glanced around the hall, and casually waved his hand, the students instinctively responded to this by taking their sits. Professors were great figures in their respective Dao and were treated with esteem. Professor Mo, being a professor of Florin Valley Academy was an Insight Master of the Xianji stage of Swordsmanship.
The Xianji stage, being the third stage of Swordsmanship, was deemed to have no end. Unlike the rest stages of Swordsmanship, everyone had to forge their own path in the Xianji stage. One's will, talent, and destiny came into play, serving as a determinant for their overall achievements in this stage. There were many well-known paths an individual could choose to follow, and among them was the Insight Master.
The Insight Master wasn't overly a combat-based path, it was rather a knowledge path. All Insight masters were renowned scholars, and they were known for being capable of creating and teaching series of secret techniques and cultivation manuals. Of course, there were different grades when it came to these paths in the Xianji level, and professors were just low-grade insight masters.
Professor Mo started his lecture with the Students, the lesson was overly based on essence gathering, less to the advantage of those who had yet to break into this stage. Doran's face was once more shaded by a blank expression, his determination seemed to diminish gradually by every minute. Since he couldn't absorb essence energy, he had zero hope of reaching this stage, just hearing the details of the teachings made him feel like he should have committed suicide a long time ago.

After the lesson was concluded, the students gradually left the hall. Doran was heading to his residence when he heard someone call his name. He glanced back and was a little bit shocked to see Anya walk up to him.
"I guess we finally meet! haha. What a great lesson, right?" She said beaming with a smile.
Doran frowned lightly at her words, that was the worst possible question he could be hoping to hear at this moment. He glanced solely at her and said:
"We're you so eager to see me?"
"Ah… no, not that. I told you I'm a student of this Academy, but you didn't believe me so… I just wanted to prove myself"
"Was that necessary? I could have found out anyway. I was also shocked to know that you are an inner court disciple" Doran said rolling his eyes. Being an inner court disciple was no small matter, one had to either be in the top rankings or extremely talented for their age.
"I'm a direct disciple"
"….?"
Doran face flashed with a bewildered expression, he hurriedly convinced himself that he must have heard wrong.
"You are directly what…?"
"I said that I'm a direct disciple" Anya replied calmly"
Doran became subject to a tightened expression. He wasn't sure if it was appropriate to scream out 'Bull Shit!' at this very moment. Just who were direct disciples?
Direct disciples were disciples specially chosen by high-level figures, it could either be due to their unrivaled talent or background. In the whole of Florin Valley Academy, there were only three direct disciples, and those three were treated with high reverence. Taking an example, Reymon, who was the direct disciple of the patriarch.
"Whose disciple are you?" He asked
"Ah… the vice sect master"

Doran didn't know whether to believe her words. Staring at her with his narrowed eyes, she didn't seem like someone who was joking, because she still maintained a calm expression. Doran couldn't help but give more thought to it…
'She came into the hall with Reymon, could she really be a direct disciple?' Of course that would be the only explanation, he had no choice but to believe her. "I see… You must be new here, that explains why I haven't seen you before"
"Yeah. I have been answering all your questions, why don't you answer some of mine?" Anya said with a smile.
"What do you want to ask" Doran said as he looked at her with slight suspicion.
"it's nothing much, I was just curious about your cultivation and place in the rankings"
Doran didn't see the need to hide this information from her, it wasn't a secret anyway. She was a direct disciple, so she won't understand how rigorous his struggles have been. "I'm yet to break into the essence gathering stage, and I'm in the upper middle of the rankings," he said.
Anya contemplated for a while after hearing his answer, from her eyes, a faint hint of disappointment could be seen.
Doran also seemed to be mystified by her reaction, for some reason she must have expected something better from him. Whatever must have been her motive wasn't of much concern to him, he suddenly remembered he was supposed to ask her for spirit Jades…
"Do you still have any Spirit Jades?"
Anya whose eyes had suddenly lit up, answered "Yeah. Why? do you need it?"
"Sure, I would like to borrow one to use"
She traced her neck, removed the necklace she was wearing, and stretched it out to Doran. "Here, I believe you will be able to use this, it's made partly from Spirit Jade"
Doran failed to hide his baffled expression once more after seeing this. When did spirit Jade become a trivial item that was so easy to give out? He had prepared his mind for a refusal but didn't expect her to give him so easily.
"Can't you make use of it?" Asked Anya who had been left hanging by the petrified Doran, while still stretching out the necklace.
"Why not! thanks, Doran said as he took the necklace by the chain. He didn't dare handle it rashly, least he directly touch the Spirit Jade on it.

Delicate as Glass
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Nuri, an [Assistant Glassworker], only has a single Skill. It’s really not fair. He’s worked in the hot shop his entire life, following in his father’s footsteps after his parents passed away, but he’s stuck. Despite possessing above-average talent as an artisan, he still hasn’t shed his [Assistant] status, gained a second Skill, or even leveled enough to reach the first Threshold. Besides, he’s bored; most days he daydreams of adventure and becoming a hero, or pines for the renown that’s sure to be his if he evolves his Class into a [Master Glass Smith], but nothing ever changes—until suddenly, fate strikes, and nothing is ever the same again. These days, Nuri sees more magic, prestige, and adventure than he can handle as he gets swept up in realm-shaking conspiracies and desperate fights for his life. Maybe a boring life wasn’t so bad after all. Disclaimers: 1) Names were mostly chosen through random generators and aren’t necessarily final. If they seem derivative or boring, blame RNG. 2) Skills, Classes, levels, and the entire system is currently a work in progress; please be kind if it’s not very well fleshed out yet. 3) This is the first full-length novel I've set out to write without a single plot point ready. I had nothing in mind other than a recent visit to a hot shop. Molten glass is pretty awesome. 4) Related, I know much less about glass than I’d like. I did some research, but mistakes are bound to happen. If you have a correction, thanks! Please be polite about it. 5) The prose is my experimental attempt at first-person, present tense. I realize it may not be everyone’s preference, but I hope you’ll give it a try anyway!
