《Entertainment Cafe》New Game

~Morning~
I wake up feeling extremely nauseous, looking over to grab a glass of water I glance at my bedside table and see the bag full of money, I remember yesterday getting paid to help take care of some assassins. I shiver. I dont want to do anything like that again. I just want to sit at my desk drawing and watching kids come in to watch movies.
I sit up in bed and check on my system notifications.
[Host contributed 67% to the battle and has earned an title: Not to be Trifled With.]
[Host completed Misssion: Help Prince with Assassin's; Reward: 3000 Crystals and the Prince will not come to the store anymore, as per Host feelings]
I feel a bit happy at that the system noticed my feelings and won't let me see that bastard prince ever again.
[All Current Missions (1) Completed: Collect Prize!]
I click the Prize notification.
[New Game: DriftMoon]
Driftmoon? That game? Great! I wonder how that game is going to be in Vr? Probably just as amazing I bet. Do I get any Items from it? I check the system menu for anything else new.

[Shop]
Selecting Items I take a look.
[Items: Portal Series; Driftmoon.]
[Driftmoon: Hoe of Doom - 400 Crystals; Summonable Golem - 350 Crystals; Gold Dust Shield - 500 Crystals]
As I have now come into possesion of a good amount of crystals I can buy what I like from the system, So for the future of protecting myself I get the Hoe of Doom and the Golem to guard my store.
[Current Balance = 2330 Crystals; 24 Golds; 6 Silvers; 3 Bronze.]
In both of my hands lay the items. a slightly bloodied sharp Hoe of Doom, and a Blue Orb for summoning the Golem. I put the Orb on a pedestal behind the counter, as well as the Hoe in case I need it eventually. Wearing my casual jeans and striped shirt I go downstairs and turn on the open sign, waiting for customers.

To my surprise i didn't have to wait long, as some of the nobles i had met at the party came by to ask about my shop, while a lot of them were surprised by the prices they quickly paid just to experience what the Cafe had to offer, and my cafe was nearly full of people. One person walked up and introduced himself. He was a middle aged man with a mustache and some stubble on his chin.
"Hello miss, I'm Griffin Chase, my family and I were greatly interested about your shop, but that horrible accident cut my questions short, mind if we have a chat?"
Accident? Is that what the Bastard is calling it? I accept the offer and begin talking to Griffin.
"Sorry about all the people, after the Accident everyone remembered your speech and thought visiting here to get our minds off of that horrible night, I brought my family with me, and it seems the others had the same idea."
"It's completely fine Mr. Chase, I'm glad my shop is popular for that regard."
"Call me Griffin, and your shop is wonderful." He said with a kind smile.
"Thank you Mr. Chase, but what did you want to chat about?"
"Are you alright, after the accident people saw you leaving the mansion last, and I was wondering what happened."
I thought up a quick lie about it. "Oh the Prince was just apoligizing because he was the one who invited me."
"In that case I hope you are alright regardless, well I'm going to enjoy some breakfast with my wife now Miss Anabelle, thank you for our little chat."
He went back to a booth with his wife and started drinking the coffee and talking with his wife. I took a guess that he was trying to make me spill something that happened. As everyine was calling it "The Accident" did sound suspicious in everyone's eyes. I shrugged the idea off though, as I hope to never see him again, and not to get involved either. I swear if I see that bastard prince again I'll... I cool down, nothing good will come from me thinking about it. Soon al the nobles left quite happy for my mini cinema so they could watch a show taking their mind off of the terrible night, when they left they said that they would probably come again, which for me is a good sign, but soon my shop was getting a little popular as more people would stop by now and then.

I saw Kaye again, he seemed a bit more carefree as he came in to watch another movie, paying for an extra large popcorn per usual. Nanami came in with her friends Meredith and Rosa, and a few other I didn't catch the names of they seems to be trying out the new Driftmoon game. The price wasn't changed much going up from 3 Crystals to 5, but it was a bit hard to keep getting uneven amounts of crystals, so I feel better this way. I sit down and search the system shop for art supplies, and after brosing through a couple options I got a set of watercolors, and I would absentmindedly paint, when people came in slowly each day.
~Flash Forward a Month~
Surprisingly I am more accustomed to the violence of this world, occationally when I go out people try to attack me and I beat them to a pulp, then they leave me alone, but I see others less fortunate, sometimes dying outside my shop. My heart slightly hardens the longer I remain here. The system might be either the problem or the solution to all my problems but I still haven't figured out why I am even here. Obviously it's not to save the world, Nor is it to be the strongest, so I sit here, staring out the windows of my store into the night sky pondering what i'm supposed to do here. While I relish the peacefulness of my store I still feel like something is missing from my life.
I've pretty much forgotten the incident with the prince, but I still have a bit of anger towards him. My slow life feels fulfilling watching over the store, beating up troublemakers, and waving to children playing in the street. But not having a goal make life boring so I think about what will light that fire in my heart.
Suddenly I have an Idea! I'll start another store! A branch location!
I smile and begin to prepare for the journey.

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.

Osaethar
In the VR game, World, the strongest player is labelled as the overlord. One day, the overlord, Kindred, went to a mission with his team. However, the mission was not a success. Due to a series of misfortune, the squad is teleported to an alternate land, called Osaethar, that is absolutely no different from reality except for the existence of magic and superhuman strength. Disclaimer (?): This light novel is heavily inspired by Overlord by Kugane Maruyama. Expect a lot of elements that come from it. But I wouldn't consider this fanfiction. Enjoy!
