The whole line of them continue up the stairs, and through the busted doorway. Two of Clem’s troops holding torches at the front and a single one of Carlisle’s holding one at the very rear.

“Let’s just keep doing what we’re told,” whispers Madeleine to Dozer, as they climb, noticing that the muscles in his back are starting to twitch, a clear indication that his usual calm is beginning to dissipate. “So far Hy-Jinx has arranged a safe escort for us until at least the level of the wall - and the belfry is only two levels above that. And she’s also ensured that we’re all together and have all the equipment necessary.”

Dozer clears his throat as an indication that he’s heard her.

“Even without an instrument she’s got people dancing to her tune.” Madeleine comments to no one in particular.

“She is undoubtably an asset - I bet her keen mental skills would be useful in guerrilla warfare,” chimes in Helmet.

Hood grunts a laugh, having observed with amazement the way in which Hy-Jinx’s seemingly idiotic behaviour has not only manipulated the situation but the minds of Clem and Carlisle.
