《EX-Tier Loser (GameLit Fantasy)》10. Mana Training [2]

He was amused. I knew it from seeing him smirking as he approached me and said.
“Sure, that’s my intention from the start. Raise your head and look me in the eyes.”
I raised my head and looked at him straight in the eyes.
“Good. Your eyes have changed.”
My eyes had changed. His words confused me even further.
“I said that the Fake will not hold back, right?”
Yes, he did. I nodded my head.
“That meant the Fake also had the skill of the real. The skill that they got from God.”
I knew it. I had guessed it. Which was why I asked the trainer to teach me about martial arts.
Even if my body was strong, Rena had a weapon. She had a skill that allowed her to master any weapon that she held.
‘That’s a fucking cheat.’
It was unfair. But it was natural because she was Rena.
“Before I teach you Martial arts, tell me why you want to leave this place faster.”
“Didn’t you say you knew everything about me?” I asked him with narrowed eyes.
“Yes, I know. However, I wanted to hear it from your mouth. Tell me your determination. The reason why you wanted to become strong, your reason for wanting strength.”
“Tch.” I clicked my tongue.
He knew about my reason, yet he asked me.
“What a psycho.” I cursed him.
“That’s a compliment in my ears.” And he answered nonchalantly.
Now that I understood his personality, I let my mouth run around, not holding anything back.
It could be a bad habit when I leave this place, but I will work on that later.
My story was not that special, but Rena’s existence in my life had changed it. She changed my life; she saved me. I owed her.

“It’s not that grand. I only wanted to repay them.”
“Tell me why. I won’t teach you before you tell me.”
‘It looks like I have no choice. He already knew about my past, so nothing will change even if I keep silent.’
So I looked at him. He was waiting impatiently with a sly grin.
“The reason, I said, was that I wanted to repay them. That’s not wrong, and you know it. Rena saved my life.”
“How? How will you repay them?” He asked, still with his sly smile as if he was toying with me, playing with my feelings.
“Everything. My life. She saved me when I was kicked out of that orphanage. She gave me a place, taught me how to smile. I wanted to repay her and the boys that helped me all this time.”
I clenched my fists unconsciously. They were now bleeding. I just realized the pain after I was done telling the trainer my reason.
“Don’t forget that conviction. It will keep you alive. Also, think about what she did to you, and how you feel toward her.” The trainer’s smile dropped, and he touched my forehead with his index finger.
As he touched me, I felt Mana enter my body and the pain in my palm was gone. I raised my hands and saw that the wound from my clenching fists too hard had disappeared, leaving only a bloodstain.
“Now, what martial art do you want to learn first?” His tone had become normal again, his playful yet irritating tone.
I was thinking about this all the time. What should I learn?
However, the answer was obvious. I got the hint from Rena’s skill.
“Everything,” I answered him.
V stopped moving after I answered him. He looked at me as he tilted his head in confusion. He looked surprised with my answer.

I grinned at him with a satisfying feeling. This was the first time I managed to surprise him.
Then I continued, “I wanted to learn everything that you can teach me. Sword, spear, staff, and hand-to-hand. Teach me everything.”
The edge of his lips was slowly curving upward. His hand moved and covered his face as he laughed.
“Kuhahahaha, I see, what a greedy bastard.” He laughed maniacally for a few seconds.
He stopped and peeked at me between the gaps of his fingers. His eyes glowed a little under the shadow of his fingers.
“I will train you.” He said, as he lowered his hand, “However, right now I will only teach you one martial art. Rushing will only make you weak. Focus on one martial art right now.”
That was enough. I had expected it. Not only that, I might have to enter this world a few times, considering what he told me about the New Continent.
I only learned Body Enhancement. He must’ve his reason for keeping the other techniques secret from me.
Either my body was too weak, or I was not ready yet.
He did say that I couldn’t make my body stronger in this world, so I must train my body in the real world.
The ground near the trainer’s feet began moving, and a stick stuck out before he grabbed it.
Something similar to what happened to Fake Rena. The stick that the trainer held slowly morphed into an iron sword with a 120cm blade.
The width was a bit leaner than the sword that the Fake held. The trainer then gripped it in reverse and stretched his hand towards me.
“Here, we will learn swordsmanship first.” He said.
I just looked at the hilt of the sword that was presented to me.
“Take it, do you want to learn a martial art or not?” His voice was impatient. If I stayed silent any further, I felt like he wouldn’t teach me any martial arts.
My hand moved, gripping the hilt that was presented to me.
“Good, now fight her.”
His next words surprised me, and I looked at him. He pointed his index finger at the Fake Rena, who stood a few steps away, smiling.
“Feel free to use Body Enhancement. Do your best, Loser.”
He then called me Loser again.
There was only one instance when he called me that. It was when he was dead serious about ordering me.
I moved my feet towards Fake Rena without grumbling. I knew that I couldn’t do anything.
However, I would struggle. No matter what.
“See you next time.” I left those words to the trainer. I was confident in myself.
With Body Enhancement, I was confident that I wouldn't lose.
“Yeah, I will be waiting for you under the tree.” He answered, “I will say good morning when you are resurrected.”
‘Ah, now I am pissed.’
He was expecting me to die.
I couldn’t accept that.
‘Let’s struggle, shall we?’
And I faced her once again, this time with Body Enhancement and a sword in my hand.

The Triumphs and Tribulations of Kai Jameson
Kai Jameson is an average everyday young man. He still lives at home with his parents after having just graduated from college. He loves playing video games and his job at the local Buy More is tolerable. Of course that all changes the moment the system arrives and the Earth is connected to the Nexus. Turns out Kai was trapped in time for about eighteen months while the people already here got a headstart on him. He lucks into being rescued by some people from a town called Donnyton and learns that if he wants to survive in this New Earth he'll have to work harder than ever before. The rewards are worth it. This is Kai's story, the moments of his triumphs, and the moments when he feels that things couldn't possibly be worse. Thanks to puddles4263 and his story The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound for the inspiration on the world this is set in. If you have never read that I highly recommend it, and if you have read it and enjoyed that story then I hope you'll enjoy mine as well. This is the first story I'm ever putting out for public consumption so reader beware on that. Any constructive criticism is always appreciated, simply leaving a half star review tells me that you're a moron who doesn't know how to use words. I'm constantly trying to improve my writing and feedback and criticism on what works and what doesn't is the only way to do that at the point I feel I am at. Last, I just marked all the content warnings because you never know where a story will take you and I don't want to exclude anything (though there will never be a harem). I am going to release 1-2 chapters per week on Fridays. Thanks and enjoy.

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
