《EX-Tier Loser (GameLit Fantasy)》4. The Change

The members of The Outcasts looked at me as if I was a stranger.
“Victus… you…” Rena looked at me with a dumbfounded look.
“Hah! You have become braver, you little bastard!”
Jin approached me and draped his right arm over my shoulder. He used his left hand to grind my head, and it hurt.
However, I was happy that I finally felt like I was part of the team.
“I always knew that Victus could do it if he tried.”
John nodded his head repeatedly, with crossed arms.
I smiled wryly under the hold of Jin, but he released me after a while and all of us smiled at each other.
‘It’s all thanks to the skill.’
My skill that enhanced my mind.
It gave me courage, it changed my thought process.
I was glad that I got this skill, but I was somehow anxious.
The Skill was a gift from God alongside Mana, but I knew that there was nothing free in this world. It was something that I learned harshly, so I remembered it clearly.
A blessing from God, I knew that there was nothing like that. A blessing was something given to a devout servant of God, not a Loser like me.
If I must describe my skill, then it would be…
‘Curse. It’s forcing me to keep going until I defeat an enemy that I cannot defeat. It won’t allow, and will not allow me to give up. The time in the outside world will be stopped, I will have no one to help me.’
I had analyzed it, and I understood it.
It was a curse. A curse for me, a Loser.
The twins were looking at each other while grinning before they turned to me.
“Well, why don’t you show us your skill first, Victus?” The older twin, Kyo, asked me.

“That’s right! Do it, Victus!” Ryo raised his right hand to the air to cheer me up.
From what I knew and guessed, the Status was similar to a Game. That was why I said that there was a possibility of monsters inhabiting the New Continent.
Mana, skill, we were still foreign with those.
We needed training, and we needed weapons to protect ourselves.
Because I knew how the world worked, I knew that I needed to keep my skill hidden.
A normal skill would be fine, but my skill was probably special.
If my skill was known to the world, The Outcasts would be in danger. I heard Jin and John earlier.
They were shouting about S or A, which one was higher.
Obviously, S was higher, and it was probably known as the highest in terms of Rank.
So, my S+ skill was probably broken, it even enhanced my willpower as a passive.
The Outcasts treated me like a family, I won’t endanger them.
“I…”
Which was why.
‘I will hide my skill from them, so they won’t be in danger. The world has changed, there is a possibility of stricter competition. This time, it will be centered around battle or skill.’
My skill would be coveted by many. If there was someone who could steal a skill, The Outcasts members would be targeted if they knew my skill. So, to minimize the danger, I won’t tell them about my skill.
They were the ones who protected me in the past, so if my skill was indeed broken and allowed me to fight together with them or even protect them...
‘I will hide it and fight together with them.’
“I have no skill.”
I was expecting them to get disappointed, but on the contrary, Jin patted my shoulder and gave me a thumbs up.

“Don’t be discouraged, even with no skill, I will teach you how to fight!”
He flashed a smile.
“This means not everyone can get a skill. However, Victus, there is an empty slot in the skill section, right?”
Kyo analyzed it and asked me.
“Yes, and I have 11 Mana.”
“So you can learn a skill if you get a Skill Tome! There is still hope, brother!”
“Ryo is right. Don’t be discouraged, Victus. The first Skill Tome that we get will belong to you. I, no, we promise.”
All of them were really kind.
I did lie to them, but they believed me without asking any questions, and they promised that they would give me the first Skill Tome that we found.
“Thank you.”
Rena also approached me and smiled.
“As I said, the boys will help you, right?”
“Ha-hahaha, yes. Thank you, Rena.”
‘Also, sorry for lying to you.’ I quietly added inside my mind.
“Don’t worry about it. We, The Outcasts, are your family, and families help each other.”
After they told me that they would do their best to help me to find the Skill Tome that God mentioned, Rena looked at the boys.
“I guess I will tell you guys my skill first.”
The boys looked at Rena with eyes full of expectation.
Rena was their boss, the leader of The Outcasts. She was an outstanding girl, and even the boys had no chance of defeating her in a fight.
The reason for that was, Rena joined a hand-to-hand combat class in the nearby dojo. That dojo also taught her about armed combat, such as swordsmanship and spearmanship.
In short, she was strong. In this new world, I and the boys had high expectations for her, so we listened quietly.
“I got S+ skill. The name of my skill is ‘One with Weapon.’ The description of my skill is long, but the gist of it is, I can wield any weapon and master it as soon as I touch it. It also said that if my proficiency with a certain weapon reaches a certain point, I will be able to coat the weapon with my mana. It’s a passive skill, and I have 10 mana, one less than Victus.”
“Ooh! That’s amazing, Rena! As I thought, Victus mana seems to be the highest among us.” Exclaimed John.
“That’s really amazing, then I am next!” Jin raised his right hand and volunteered.
He then crossed his arms and had a smug smile on his face. “My skill is good, I can even say that it’s magic instead of skill.”

Tales of the Legendary Scholar
They meet in the most unlikely moment and turned their life around. Freidrech newly arrived in his own nation's capital city, which is so foreign to him compared to his village's idyllic and nondiscriminatory atmosphere, after he is forced to come. Now, he is facing a royal prince and tells him to bow. This draws out one of his late father's teachings from the deepest recesses in his mind. "The blood of your great ancestors runs in your veins. Don't easily bow down to anyone, or accept suppression by any being, not even from a monarch, unless you pledge your allegiance to him. Also, giving in to oppression is directly telling the oppressor that you're easy prey and open for manipulation." He is uncertain on how to face this oppression right now. Will he bows or not? What will he do to uphold his father's words while keeping his life safe? As for the prince, Theodrech has nothing to do with Freidrech, so he wishes to let this slip, but the boy opens his mouth and proposes the most ludicrous challenge he ever heard and triggers his curiosity. "I, Freidrech Goederf Gerboud, son of the late Village Chief Louvel Gerboud of Wrilon, will challenge you, Your Highness, to a battle of riddles… If you win, I will not only bow but be your servant for the rest of my life." This amuses the prince. It is the first he met a boy of the same age who is not intimidated by the air of authority he projects. Rather, this boy challenges him. "Why are you so headstrong? In fact, bowing to me is an honor. You saw the King's noble Knights. When they saw me, they bowed," says Theodrech, testing Freidrech. "Allow me to be forward, Your Highness. For me, bowing to a monarch does not guarantee loyalty. If I were you, I rather have men who stand straight in my presence but who got my back, than bowing men who are dreaming of my death," replies Freidrech. The prince’s curiosity increases. A huge smile is seen on his face. Prince Theodrech decides to take Freidrech under his wing. Little did they know, this boy who Prince Theodrech takes in as his confidant and friend in the most ridiculous fashion is someone indispensable in his life and the one who can help him succeed the throne when he almost believes he has lost. Thus, the Tales of the Legendary Scholar begins. ------ o ------ Old Synopsis: A famous ancient adage stated, behind a successful man is a woman BUT… In these lands, the monarchs are seeking not a woman to stand behind them but the man hailed as the Legendary Scholar.
