In an Unknown place…

A young man shifted his gaze throughout the place, it was pitch black darkness everywhere, even beneath his legs.

He plopped on the somewhat cold ground. "What's wrong with me? Why do I feel better after dying? I don't hear those whispers anymore."

He gazed at the dark sky filled with stars. "Just where is this place? It does not look like hell."

A massive kaleidoscope abruptly appeared in front, filling the sky with colors. Its end couldn't be seen.

The sight of the gigantic Kaleidoscope spinning startled him before he could do anything a sudden tugging sensation enveloped him.

His surroundings changed, he found himself what seemed to be inside the Kaleidoscope.

The sudden increase in temperature baffled him before he screamed in pain, he was being burned in lava. His throat became dry from screaming… Nobody heard his cries filled with despair.

It stopped after what felt like eternity. His legs gave away and he fell down with tears streaming down his cheeks.

But his nightmares had just started. The Kaleidoscope spun again, he turned and tried to run, his face twisted in sheer horror.

What did I do to deserve this? Who is doing this to me? Why am I here? WHY? WHY? WHY?

The intensity of pain increased this time.

Every time was different torture, repeating over and over. Each time it stopped, the youth sat there motionless, until a day came when something broke inside him. His figure started fading.

A silver-haired woman gazed at Leo figure fading like mist. She came over and yanked him to his feet and slapped him hard, again and again. She saw no light in his eyes, only emptiness.

"It's time to use 'that' or his soul will scatter," she whispered and walked away.

The Kaleidoscope spun once again. The young man looked at everything, his eyes dead. Familiar images showed up in front of him. Something welled up in his chest when he saw them. The warm feeling in his chest brought tears in his eyes.

Thump Thump Thump

He sat there and heard his heart beating again. Laying on the ground, he curled up and cried like a child.

No one knew the reason for his tears…

A couple watched the child, their faces filled with anguish. The female tried to reach out to him, still, it couldn't touch him.

"Please forgive us," she wiped her tears and disappeared from the place…

Leo woke up and pressed his right hand against the chest to feel the slow and rhythmic heartbeat.

He couldn't believe someone so cruel existed, but the inhumane things he witnessed in his life brought this thought to an end. The humans had committed far more cruelties than he could thought.

Just remember this no matter who you are, I'll kill you someday. It'll be my revenge.

Leo was once again taken out of his body. This time he looked at his life playing in front of him.

Leo's was just a six-year-old normal kid. His father, Albert Evans, a strict and loving father and his mother, Emily Evans, a gentle and kind mother, loved and doted on him. He was glad to have such parents. Being famous archeologists, they only stayed with him for a few days every month, still, it only increased his love for them further.

All of this ended when his Uncle told him about his parent's death. He ran to his room, cried and prayed to the Gods and hoped for them to return… however, nothing changed...

He screamed, seeing his parents getting killed by an old man. It was a nightmare like always.

He couldn't sleep again, his eyes filled with exhaustion and fear. He kept hearing the devil's whispers in his mind.

Avenge them…

Take it from them...

Torture them...

Kill them…

He made a choice that day

Next day...

Leo went to his father's room. Opening the drawer, he saw an ancient-looking book.

He heard them talking about its importance. He burned the book out of hatred. The wind carried away its ashes. He stood there with wet eyes…

Leo knocked on his Uncle Max's house. A tall, muscular man opened the door.

"Uncle Max."

"Hey, kid."

Leo went inside and sat on a chair. "Uncle, can I ask for a favor?"

"Shoot it, kiddo."

His uncle seemed to be in a good mood. He formed a serious expression unfitting of his age and stared in his Uncle's eyes.

"Uncle, tell me who killed my parents?"

Max looked somewhat troubled from the sudden question. "No kid, your parents died in a car accident, who told you about that."

"I just know it," he replied in a calm voice.

"Kid, stop looking for these things and focus on your future," Max said and ruffled his hair.

"B-But, mom and dad won't be there. I-I want to avenge them!"

Max saw the kid had dark circles under his eyes. "Can't sleep anymore?"

"I-I can't, I see an old man killing my parents every time I sleep."

Max wide smile froze before his eyes stretched wide in shock. He was incredulous as to why this kid got to know the real culprit. Supernatural powers, he thought.

"You really want to do this? There will be no turning back after this, so think hard and tell me."

"Please Uncle help me, I won't be able to do it without you."

Max sighed and decided to give this kid a try. Maybe this really had supernatural powers.

"So you knew I was a secret agent?"

"Yes."

"Fine, I will train you first. The results will depend on you," his face turned serious. "Don't expect me to go easy on you."

Leo nodded his head. "I will do anything!"

"Okay, kid, come to my house this evening, we'll start your training."

Three years went by, Leo attended school and focused on training. His Uncle taught him everything from Martial arts to Firearms. He still heard some whispers in his head, they only broke him more. Still, he never told anyone about it.

Finally, he beat his uncle in a spar, being praised as a prodigy. Nobody saw the effort he put in to reach here, the pain he suffered from overexerting his immature muscles. The whispers in his head fueled his rage, allowing him to demonstrate something scientifically impossible. His uncle in fear of him becoming a lab rat never asked him and he wasn't the one to talk over something so insignificant.

Japan…

Leo came here to kill his first target, a local drug dealer. No, he had the cover of a drug dealer. He was a part of 'The Apocalypse', the lead suspect in his parent's murder.

Killing his target brought him no sense of satisfaction he had hoped for, instead it dragged his mind further to darkness. The crimes he saw in that building, he wouldn't forget for eternity.

The way they treated the girls… He could only clench his fists in anger. He was tired mentally, still, the sleep just wouldn't come to him. The image of his mother kept appearing in his mind, overlapping with the face of girls.

He checked the time to see 6 am and decided to do some morning exercises. He went out of the simple yet luxurious apartment and wandered around aimlessly on the streets.

After crossing several streets, he stopped in front of a bridge. The frigid breeze brushed his cheeks and faint sunlight caressing his face gently with warmth. All tension released from his body as his fatigue gradually disappeared.

Clunk!

He followed the noise and noticed a little girl trying to climb up the bridge. He ran and grabbed the metallic rod of the bridge and pulled himself up.

"Here, take my hand."
