《King: The Silver King's Echo》Chapter 1 - The start of everything

"I can't believe it, you said you were trying to help, where's your portion of the work huh?!"
'Shut up.'
"You call yourself our child?! All you do is eat, sleep, play and waste our time and money! Get out of here if you plan to continue your act!"
'Shut up.'
"I can't believe it, how could you fail these subjects? They're so easy. What kind of student are you?"
"Shut up!"
The moment he opened his eyes, he was in a blank white room. He looked everywhere, but he saw no boundary. He looked at his body, only to see no problems whatsoever.
"... Did I die?" He wondered, but looking around, he should have.
"Was I pulled? Or is this some sort of heaven or something?" He looked above, only to see emptiness.
"Well, whatever. My life has been pretty shit, I'll tell myself that." He reminisced his life events, only to remind himself of the horrible things that had happened.
"Still, I can't believe I died a virgin. Is this what they called, permanent sagehood?" He tried to humor himself as he laid down to try and rest.
As he was laying down, he couldn't fall asleep no matter what he did.
"Ha... I can't even have a rest huh... The fuck can I do?" He thought to himself. After seconds of thinking, the only solution he could think of was to daydream the stories he read and watched.
Remembering the games he played, such as Token and several JRPGs as well as gacha games he loved, he frowned at the thought that he won't be able to play them anymore. Remembering the mangas and anime he watched, he teared up when he knew he couldn't look at their endings anymore.
"Ha... What a shitty life this is." He tried to reach up, trying to grab whatever he could, but to no avail.
'Never knew heaven is this boring.'
"Unless you're a God like me, you'll find it very troublesome."
His eyes widened and immediately sat down, "Who are you?"
"Calm down, you know you can't really die anymore, so what's the point of being on guard?"
"Torture me of course, you're a God right? It should be highly possible that you can still hurt my soul."
"Hmm... I see... But, no matter. I'm here for a different matter."
As her voice kept echoing through the whole room, he had to cover his ears due to it ringing continuously.
"Ah? Why are you covering your ears?"
"Sorry to say this, but my ears are more sensitive than the average. Same for all my other senses."
"I see... Well, it is hard to talk to you like this, so I'll change into a form you're much more comfortable with."
The room then becomes dimmer and dimmer until it was finally safe to not squint. The light lost gathered in a ball, which slowly formed a small oval shape, then finally limbs grew out, then her silver hair, then curves, and finally all the other features became visible. But, she was naked.

"Ah! Please wear some clothes!"
"Hmm? Ah, I forgot you never masturbated. What an innocent child you are."
She snaps her fingers and clothes immediately forms on her.
"Thank you. And yes, I chose not to masturbate. I already have a shitty life, I don't want to get addicted to something like that, or so I've read."
He puts down his hands that blocked her appearance from his eyes.
"Aren't you too casual?"
He shrugs, "What's the point of saving face to a person or being that knows who and what you are? For me, being polite to someone like that just makes you waste your effort."
He then point his finger at her, "I can assume that you're talking that way because it's too troublesome isn't it?"
She shrugs in response, "Yeah, it is."
"I guess even Gods aren't perfect. Well, it's just as I expected" He mumbles under his breath.
"I heard that you know."
"Of course I knew, you are this room itself."
"How did you..."
"This whole light gathered around one spot and formed a human body, that alone makes me think you can make anything using yourself, the light. Not just that, but you spoke just fine without a human body, but I have to say, this feels way more comfortable than talking to air."
"... Guess so."
"You must've forgot if you were observing me, but I was taught to observe my surroundings very carefully."
"Alright then, enough of that chatter. I need you here because of one thing..."
"And that's...?"
"To go to another world, a fantasy world, and live as long as you can."
"... Hah?"
"You heard me. I'm giving you a second chance in life."
"..."
"..."
"..."
"Why aren't saying anything?!" She flusters by the fact that he became silent.
"Ah... No, it's just that..."
"Hmm?"
"I'm... Tired of living."
"What?! You can't stop now! After everything I've done!" She flails her hands in panic.
"I'm sorry. I really am, but I'm just looking for a place to rest. And besides, why didn't you know?"
"Eh... I can't really observe you too much if we're on separate planes. And, when I observe, I can't really see through your mind."
"Why?"
"Well..." She scratches her head as she comes up with an answer.
"It has to do with as to why I need you to go to the other world."
"Then, why me?"
"..."
She falls silent. She couldn't answer his question for a reason, which made him curious. But because of his morals, he shakes his head.
"No no, just forget it."
"Ah... But, don't you want to hear it?"
"Well, I do. But since you didn't speak immediately, it must've meant that it's valuable information to the point that you don't want anyone else to know about it. Keep it, it's better to protect the secret and promise you've made with that person before me."

"... Okay."
Silence falls once more, making the atmosphere awkward, which prompted him to cough, signaling her about the conversation before.
"So uhh, since you're in a pickle right now, I suppose I should help you out. Another chance in life doesn't seem so bad, as long as I don't look this ugly and obese though."
He caresses his own face which was riddled with pimples and acne and rubs his belly which was classified as obese. He remembers regretting eating so much food that he became like that.
"Ah, okay I can at least fix that up."
She brings out a pen and paper and wrote what he had requested.
"And uhh... I read in stories that Gods give powers or cheats for them."
"Hmm... Well, I can give you abilities, but it'll depend on the abilities that you want."
His face which was dark, glows up as she said it. She slightly regrets that action of hers.
"Well... I have a lot in mind, but basically, I want an ability that makes me remember everything I want to remember, even those that I've already forgotten."
She sighs in relief, "I thought it was something bad. That's easy to do really. Anything else?"
"... I guess I need an ability that lets me translate all languages, even from earth and that new world you told me about."
"Okay then, that's also easy to add. Next?"
"I want affinity to all elements and magic too!"
"Hmm... About that, you still need to master them to use them properly. Are you okay with that?"
"Well, I really only want to master a few, but you never know when I'll need to master the others, right?"
She shrugs, "Okay then. And?"
He smirks, "I want the power to create any skills I want!"
"Okay the-- say what now?"
"Uhh is that not allowed?"
She grabs onto his shoulders and flails him around, "OF COURSE IT IS! IT'S BASICALLY ADDING A MORTAL TO THE GODS' REALM! NOT JUST THAT BUT BY USING IT COULD DESTROY THE WORLD!"
"OwowokaeaeAY! PLEASE STOP!"
"Ah, sorry."
"Uhh...... Is there any way or thing I can do so that this can be allowed?"
"NO! I absolutely can not allow this!"
"Pleheheeeaaase!" He kneeled down and did a kowtow below her.
"No, I'm sorry, but I can't let you be a God and potentially destroy the world."
"Hmmmm......." He kept thinking for an idea, one that will benefit them both.
'Damn it, what should I do? I can't just keep begging her to do it for me. What kind of deal can benefit both of us? A contract that I won't be a God? But what's her reward? Shit, if I'm the only one with the reward, then it wouldn't be accepted. Ahhh what to do... I really wanna enjoy this next life to the fullest, but I don't know the answer to the Sphynx's riddle. Haa... Do I really have to do it? It's a big loss for me, but if I last long enough, I gain a lot of benefits. DAMN IT, FINE!' He scratches his head in defeat in his inner debate.
"Alright, I have an idea."
She slightly opens her eyes, "Just give it up, no matter what idea you have, it'll never--"
"How about we make a contract?"
She stops, and then she crosses her arms, "Go on."
"The first term in this contract, as I'm assuming that it's hard to find an assistant due to your previous remarks, I am to be your permanent slave until you are satisfied. The second term is that that ability will be sealed until the condition set is fulfilled."
She stops to think before continuing to speak once more, "But that isn't going to solve the problem of you being a God."
He smirks, "That's where these terms will come in handy."
"Hmm?"
"The first term is so that I won't be a God AND you won't have to look for more people to assist you, making you speed up the process. This basically kills 2 birds with one stone. The second term is so that I can't use it until I get strong enough to control it. Am I wrong?"
She stopped to think about the terms he said before opening her mouth at the enthusiastic person in front of her, "To be a permanent slave... You won't regret that, won't you?"
"I already quit my first life. What's there to lose?"
She lets out a deep sigh, "Well, I suppose that that's your choice." She brings out a different paper, which contains the contract that he had thought off.
After signing the contract of both papers, blue light descends behind him.
"So, I guess this is goodbye huh."
"Well, it's not like we won't meet again."
"Guess so... What's your name?"
"Ah... I don't have one."
"... 'Noel'." He mutters under his breath.
"Hmm?"
"Your name is 'Noel'."
She smiles happily at her new name. But as he steps into the light, a thought strikes his head, 'Wait... Who am I?'
He looks back at the smiling Goddess as she waves her hand.
'Well, whatever my name is... This is a new life anyways, not like it matters too much. I wonder, will this make me excited? Meh.' And with that, his ugly appearance had vanished and his soul had wandered to the new world.

As he left, she looks behind her, seeing the silhouette of a person.
"... You lose."

QQQQ
Have you ever noticed that the letter Q is unnecessary? It doesn't provide any function to the language. Any word spelled with it could just as easily be spelled with other letters. Does that mean it shouldn't exist? Of course not. In this universe, everything has a place. Cosmic balance, Karma, God's plan, the laws of physics—they're all trying to describe the same thing. There is nothing that exists without purpose, and nothing without purpose that can exist. You can take solace in knowing that, just like the useless letter Q, you have birthright to exist in this world. Nothing can take that from you. Unless a creator God breeds technicolor angel-beasts hellbent on ripping you out of reality, of course. When Mina learns that she was a cosmic accident—a being accidentally created without purpose—what was once an easygoing life starts to entwine with conspiracies, impossible occurrences, and deadly occult mysteries. Not to mention friends so dangerous and unpredictable they make the cosmic horrors look normal by comparison. When the questions never stop piling up, it's hard to know where to begin. But I'll give you a hint: they all begin with a Q.

8 194The Chibok Papers
It was a terrible day in the camp of the Boko Haram terrorists in Sambisa Forest when seven girls belonging to the personal harem of their late leader disappeared mysteriously. Shortly after, the secret list of their sponsors, worldwide, was discovered missing. While the harried sponsors launched a manhunt for the girls in a bid to recover the papers, another secret organisation engaged the services of Captain Winters, formerly of Delta Force 2 to ferret out the document in order to expose the sponsors and punish them. Thus began a deadly race for the Chibok papers, a nerve wracking and bone chilling contest between the forces of good and evil.
