《Novam Vitam》Chapter 3: Compensation.

Back once again, floating in a dark void. This time not with sadness and regret but rather fury and hate. Fury for his new life that was squandered, and hate for that infernal race that had ended him, fury and hate so vast and intense it engulfed his entire incorporeal being.
"IF ONLY I COULD RETURN DOWN THERE! I'D RIP THAT SUCCUBUS WHORE LIMB FROM LIMB!" I roared into the abyss, each word seething with hate. What happened next was unexpected and took the edge off of my words.
"But you can mortal! You can return for a price I tell ye!" A jolly voice chirped from all around me, a voice much differant to the one from last time that I was here.
"Oh aye! I know what yer think'. I ain't the same fella, why no I ain't! Last time ya' spoke to Damien! and now yer speakin' to me! The magnificent Cadavron! Now I know what yer think', 'What's this silly tosser goin' on about? I wanna get back down there to rip that bitch limb from limb!' Ah! But you ain't heard o' me magnificent deal!" He intones.
"Whats this deal? Just like you've said I'm impatient to get back down there!"
"Oh aye, feisty one you are. You know most mortals would be bowin' an' grovelling to me since I'm a god an' all, but Naaahhh not you! I like you already, with yer balls that be bigger than beachballs! Now the deal be this, obviously you're a bit dead at the moment and your old body is well... Very baby'ish if i do say so my self and with that kind o' body it's gonna be a tad bit impossible to rip that succubus limb from limb which to be honest is somethin' I'm lookin' foward to immensely, cos' it'll be damn right entertainin'! Now back on track, I can't send you back to that body but I'll let you choose a body of your own design instead."
This intrigue's me, it's an attractive deal and some would say it's too good to be true but it's too good and it's definitely true!
"Now before you say anythin' that ain't the end of the deal, ah aye I caught your interest there ain't I? Now I've digressed once again, but any way besides from the body I'd say all that black magic mumbo jumbo and nature shite that good ol' Damien gave ye is good alright, but how about I trade something for that? When i say trade I mean remove all that knowledge he's put in yer noggin and replace it with a bit o' my knowledge which is better! Damien is the God of all things dark and what goes bump in the night, and I'm Cadavron the Magnificent, god of the magic!"

Depends what kind of knowledge or magic that he's going to give me. Is it helpful short term? Long term? Both short and long term?
"Now of course you know all magic spells are powered by mana right? Now all things in existance are made of mana, solid objects like dirt are just condensed mana, so what if I give yer the ability to manipulate mana itself? No need for spells, spells are for chumps! The possibilities with mana manipulation are vast and the pros far outweigh any cons there might be. But besides from a new body I'll give yer Robes made out of enchanted silk that'll be harder to cut that steel, but HAH! I'm not done yet, I'll give you a bag full of Mana stones which as the name suggests are crystals made out of pure mana, and finally I'll give yer 30 Wisdom pearls." He finishes finally, a great deal both long and short term, first I must ask what these wisdom pearls are.
"You've explained everything but the wisdom pearls, enlighten me to their purpose please." I ask politely.
"What, yer not feisty any more? Any way what are wisdom pearl's you ask? Good question! If a person swallows a wisom pearl they'll learn any knowledge that be stored on it, say if it's knowledge on how to be a master blacksmith or a master swordmens then not only will there be knowledge on how to perform all those fancy sword moves but there also be muscle memory as well, so you don't have to practise or anythin' you'll know how to and be able to perform all that fancy stuff no problem once yer swallowed a pearl o' wisdom!"
To be fairly honest there's no way I can decline this offer, it's too good to pass by. I mean once I've accepted it I can claim my vengeance on that demonic whore... But first one more question.
"Will it be of random knowledge? Will you pick what knowledge they contain? Or will I get to pick?" I ask that one final question.
"Why you can pick of course now hurry up and choose so I can watch ye tear that succubus apart! Oh and before I forget the little continent you'll be goin' back to is in ruins with demons every where! Some idiot thought it'd be funny to summon shit loads of 'em, want some advice for when ye get back? Make sure not to kill lil' Henrietta, why? Because she's yer ticket off of that shithole of a continent, you know what? I'll throw in a magical compass as well, when ye get to sea make sure to follow it and after a week or so o' sailin' and you'll reach a place you can call home once you fix the place up a bit that is." He says excitedly.

"Alright I accept this offer of yours. I'll take 16 Pearls to contain weapon mastery, All weapons both melee and ranged, from the sword and spear to the bow and crossbow. 1 pearl containing building and architecture mastery, 3 pearls containing mastery of leather-working and tailoring, 4 pearls containing mastery of blacksmithing, 4 pearls containing mastery of carpentry and wood-working. And finally 2 pearls containing mastery of Earth magic." I list off after spending a few minutes thinking about what I'd need for what I'd like to do after my business with that succubus is done. I might just become a feudal lord.
"Finally done aye? Well for yer body just picture it in ya' mind!" Now what do I want my new body to be like? Let's start with height, 6ft with a lanky build should do, eyes are a dark blue, hair-wise I'll go for short hair and short beard both a light brown. Skin tone? Pale beige. Nose will be sharp but with the look as if it's been broken a few times. Thats all the simple stuff done, so now I picture that body with bones ten times as dense as a normal human and muscles twice as dense as well.
As soon as I finish picturing that in my mind I feel a tingling as my new body forms, I feel much more powerful and sturdy which is probably due to the dense bones and muscles.
Once the tingling ends I open my eyes and look down to my newly formed body, now don't look at me like I'm an evil person but I may or may not have used this opportunity to gain a large schlong, because I mean What kind of man would pass up an opportunity such as this one? (A.N I'll leave the exact size up to your imaginations.)
Suddenly just like last time knowledge was implanted into my head I feel an intense burning pain in my head, much like a migraine on steroids. Soon the pain end's and I no longer know what I knew of the dark arts but instead... Mana manipulation is truly a powerful gift, so many possibilities and options with it, the only negative about it is that it take's a while to make items due to having to gather large amounts of mana for it, not only that each material has it's own 'mana pattern' so to say, and for me to know that pattern I'd have to have studied a certain material for a couple of hours.
Althought the negative about spending large amounts of time to create items can be negated by having Mana Crystals which Cadavron was kind enough to give me a bag load.
After the knowledge transfer a set of robes appear on me (A.N https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/44/bd/e0/44bde0aa22a4864588aa2e0bd126a6e0.jpg ) and a bag appears on my back, but something I need has not appeared.
"Cadavron where's a pair of shoes for fuck's sake?" I angrily snap at the magic god.
"HA! I DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING IN THE DEAL THAT'D GIVE YOU ANY! NOW GO BACK AND TAKE YE VENGEANCE O' MIGHTY MORTAL AHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHA!" He finished with a maniacal laugh.
As I was about to retort he once me proclaimed "Now go back and take ye revenge!" One moment I was floating in the abyss then another moment later I found myself standing next to my old infantile corpse.

8 185The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.

8 120I'm Sure It'll be Fine! ...right?
We live to die, and die to live again. This Cycle continues, neither to Begin nor End. Ever Beginning, never to End, we come to the story of our Unusual Friend. The Gods are as varied and unique as the mortals that worship them. Some are kind, others are fluffy, and (given the nature of the multiverse) a few are Eldrich Abominations of Unspeakable Horror. But that's fine, those few tend to mind their own business... At least until an Eldrich Abomination (an interdimensional cosmic slime-mold specifically) gets itself devoured by a Lich during a ritual to obtain Godhood... Especially because anyone, even a Lich, who's willing to eat an ENTIRE COSMIC SLIME-MOLD for any reason, even godhood, is undoubtedly a madman...who's now set his unsightly gaze upon replacing (likely by devouring) the Godess of Magic herself! She could probably use some help...if only to avoid touching the slimy Lichgod directly. Also, the Eldrich Gods are protesting these events in their usual manner...by trying to destroy all of Creation.
