《Nova》Chapter 17 - Mito's Perspective Part 2

A short while later at the dojo:
Why did I get stuck doing this? The floorboards need to be repaired because that heavy guy stepped on them, and I'm the one who has to repair them? I need to cut a new piece of wood for this. That kid really did a number on this floor...
As I'm walking across the dojo to get to the supply shed in the back, I cross the infirmary doors.
Adachi: "Ah, yes. I'm Adachi!"
Kina: "Well, Adachi... I didn't expect you were a Cosmic."
Huh? A Cosmic?
I peer through the door into the infirmary and see that kid... Why is his hair blue?!
Is he a Cosmic? But they were all exterminated over ten years ago by the kingdom! They're dangerous beings who have unexplained abilities. Considering this guy saved my life, though, I'll overlook it for now.
The kid's hair is back to normal. I guess he's been using guise this whole time. I should probably learn that technique. It's simple but valuable.
Kina: "Don't worry. Nobody in this dojo will begrudge you for being a Cosmic."
Speak for yourself, Kina. That kid is dangerous. I don't know how you can trust him so easily. Does she know something I don't?
Whatever. I've got to get the supplies for the floor.
As I walk away, I hear that kid say one last thing.
Adachi: "Kina, is it possible to overthrow the Lord of a region?"
I pause for a second to consider what I just heard. Is this guy crazy? He wants to butt heads with the Lord of the region. Does he even understand what he just said? Well, if he wants to get himself killed, that's none of my business.
I'm back in Master Shiki's room with the proper materials to repair the floor a few minutes later.

Master Shiki: "Yo Miko!"
I jump out of my skin and flip around. It's just Shiki.
Mito: "Jeez, Master. Don't sneak up on me like that!"
Master Shiki: "Hahaha, sorry! How's the floor coming along?"
Mito: "I just cut out a board the right size for the repair. It shouldn't be much longer now."
Master Shiki: "Good, good. Let me know when you're done!"
Shiki begins to walk away, but I have a question to ask.
Mito: "Master! Wait a second."
Master Shiki: "What is it?"
Mito: "How long is that kid gonna stay here? Did you know he's a Cosmic? He's dangerous."
Master Shiki: "Oh, he's not leaving. I decided to train him!"
Mito: "What?! Are you out of your mind?!"
A swift palm meets the top of my head.
*SMACK*
Master Shiki: "Can you not trust your master just once?"
Mito: "Sorry, Master... But why him?"
Master Shiki: "Well, for one, he's piqued my interest. Secondly, he's the pupil of Kiichi."
Mito: "That Kiichi?! The one who was friends with my dad?"
Master Shiki: "The very same. I've taken on a total of seven disciples now, including Adachi. Kiichi was the first."
I hang my head and continue working on the floor pensively. Seriously? That kid is Kiichi's disciple? Maybe he is worth keeping around. Although, I'm not so easily impressed. Show us what you've got, Adachi.
