When Chance finally opened his eyes, he let out a sharp gasp. How long have I been asleep? Chance quickly looked around. He was sitting in the same spot; his body felt better but not fully healed. He couldn't believe he had fallen asleep, not with so much work to do.

Chance slowly got on his feet. His legs shook under his weight. "This is not going to be fun." He said to himself as he eyed the water. How am I going to get out of here? He thought. Chance put his hand on the wall and followed it until the land stopped, "Light?" He spoke out loud as he glanced down into the water. A small orb of light was shining just beneath the surface. Chance put his hands together and dove into the water, the cold making his body twitch.

It was a struggle for him to swim at. First, he was out of practice, but soon enough, Chance was moving just fine underwater. I need to go back up for air. Chance gave his legs one last push before reaching the light. The glowing orb surrounded Chance before engulfing him.

At first, Chance panicked; he tried to swat the light away. Eventually, he relaxed. I can breathe? He took a deep inhale. It must be the light. Now I can explore under here more freely. Chance looked around before continuing to swim. He tried to be as quick as possible; the fear of the light going out weighed over his head. As Chance checked each wall and eventually the floor, he lost hope; as Chance continued to scan the floor, a box appeared before him.

Skill Unlocked: Swimming

He was more excited than he could express at the moment. Chance threw his hands up before returning to the proper position. I can't forget to move that skill. He smiled. His smile only grew larger when he saw a trap door. Chance swam as fast as he could, placed his hands around the door handle, and gave it a good tug. As the door was pulled open, he was sucked down. The force made him flail his arms before accepting his fate.

Chance shot downward before he was no longer submerged in water. He was sliding down a metallic shoot; he couldn't help but smile. This experience made him feel happy, though he couldn't pinpoint why. He was quickly taken out of his happy trance once he noticed the shoot was coming to an end. Chance screamed and tried to grab the sides of the shoot for traction. Sadly, nothing he could do would slow him down, so he was shot into another pool of water.

-

"This can not be normal." Chance said as he brought his head up from the pool. He was getting tired of being tossed around. Despite wanting to get answers, he was looking forward to a night of relaxation.

Chance was trying to take in his surroundings when he heard screaming again; he turned his head and watched someone come from the shoot. Their body hit the water with a thud. Chance put his head underwater and swam over to see if this person was still alive. I should be careful. He thought as he approached the body.

He put his arms under the body and brought it to the surface. The woman looked dead, her lips were blue, and her body was freezing. I have to try. Chance thought as he healed her body, Chance knew he could only heal minor injuries: As he healed, Chance began to feel tired. He didn't notice the blue bar appearing before. Each time he used his healing spell, the bar would go down. The lower it got, the more tired he felt.

He stopped healing the woman and slowly made his way to the next patch of land. The layout of this place confused him, and Chance wondered if he was under an ocean.

Once her body hit the land, the woman coughed. Chance grinned, though he didn't know what to do now. He wished taking this class had given him all the medical knowledge he needed.

-

After what felt like an eternity, the woman was up but not moving. She sat still and watched the water move back and forth. Chance gave her space while at the same time having a mental celebration. I can't believe I saved her life! I actually did a thing medics do!

The woman slowly stood up and slid her hair back; Chance took this opportunity to see if she was ready to talk. "How did you end up coming down here? I had to open the door to find this place, and you looked unconscious when you arrived." He asked the woman. Although Chance felt bad, he was still suspicious about her arrival.

"I was knocked out by the person I was traveling with." She said as she placed a hand on the back of her head. "Someone brought us here for some unknown reason." The woman said as she opened her inventory.

"Are you new here?" Chance asked.

"I have been here for about a month." She replied. "What's your name?" The woman asked Chance as she pulled out a couple of armor pieces from her inventory.

"My name is Chance, my partner and I were brought here as well, but we are separated right now. I can't make heads or tails of how this place is supposed to work." Chance said before asking her what her name was.

"Fate." She said as she placed her helmet on. Chance thought her name was weird, but he also thought Sage had an odd name. He had never heard of anyone where he was from having a name like that, that he could remember anyway.

"You have armor?" Chance asked as he watched Fate put her gauntlets on. "I have some armor; my partner and I were in the middle of getting more." Fate said. She had a lot on her mind; her head threatened to burst at any moment.

"What class are you?" Chance asked as he searched his inventory for a weapon. "I am a knight." She said as she watched Chance fumble around. "What are you?" Fate asked.

"I am a cleric." He mumbled in response.

Fate went back into her inventory and took out a spear. "Here. I was holding this for my partner, but I think you should have it. If you are supporting me, I don't want you in the frontlines." Fate said. Chance took the spear and gave it a twirl. "I have never used a weapon like this. Only a club and a dagger, are you sure you want me to have it?" Chance asked. He was confused about why she would give it to him over her partner.

"I want you to have it. You will have plenty of time to learn how to use it. I suspect we are in a dungeon." Fate said. "My partner is the one who hit me, and since I don't know why he did it, I will not be holding anything for him until he explains himself." She said seriously. Something about this woman made Chance feel like he was in good hands.

-

As the two walked to the next door, Chance inhaled sharply. He was determined to find Sage and get out of this place. He was even more determined to find answers; whoever brought them here had a lot of explaining to do.

As Fate opened the door, she clenched her free hand. Nothing was going to stop her from getting answers. Her eyes widened, and Chance took two steps back. They both ducked as a fireball flew over their heads.

"What is that?!" Chance snapped.

"I have no idea!" Fate yelled over the roar of the beast. A furry of fireballs shot out of the room. The duo ran backward until they hit the water. The reptile's head emerged from the doorway, it forced its body through.

"We have to fight it!" Fate said as she pulled her shield from her inventory. Her short sword slowly appeared in her free hand. She put up the shield just in time to stop herself and Chance from being roasted alive.
