《Reincarnated as a Prince but got abandoned afterwards》Chapter 9: What it means to be a family

Few days have passed since the discussion with Martha. A child wearing a tunic upper garment paired with shorts and high boots is playing with the sticks.
"With a stick in hand, I will conquer the world!"
Holding the stick with both of his hands then positioned it before himself. Imagining himself as a hero, which is embarrassing for a middle-aged man such like himself.
"Hkc!... I feel like I've awoken my chuuni self… Anyway, time for training! [Boost!]"
After chanting, Yamihr dashed like a wind to a nearby wooden target. He closed the distance in an instant. Ignoring the laws of physics as he started to hit the dummy repeatedly.
However, instead of the stick being broken, the dummy itself began to crack. Then Yamihr activated a self-created technique when he made a certain distance with the wooden dummy.
"Sword art:... No… Stick art: Whirlwind slash!"
Yamihr waved the stick in a distance. If a normal person were to see him doing that, they would think that he is just messing around because he didn't hit his target and made a slashing move in a distance.
A whistling sound can be heard as the dummy target got chopped into several pieces.
What Yamihr did was discharging wind magic through a weapon. This is his self created technique through various experimentation.
Earlier he used [Boost] magic. It is a non-element magic, meaning It is Yamihr's unique magic [Strengthening].
He realizes that you can use mana on your body back when he was a 3-year-old child. He covered his fist with mana and noticed that his strength multiplied. That was when he discovered [Physical Enhancement].
However, using it consumes tremendous mana so It tired him out when he used it for 5 minutes. Now, because of his daily training of expanding mana pool and mana manipulation, It now consumes less mana than before so he can use [Physical Enhancement] for a long period of time.

"Haa… that was refreshing! Exercising early in the morning sure is nice!"
Wiping the sweat off of his forehead, Yamihr drank a mouthful of water. After breathing a lot of fresh air, he started to go back home. It was now easy to travel to the Forest than before using [Physical Enhancement: Boost].
With his shoes clad in mana, Yamihr began leaping from a tree to another. With his current physical abilities, a normal adventurer would be a match for him no longer.
Several minutes later, he can see a house surrounded by trees. Smoke coming from its chimney.
'It must be Martha, preparing the breakfast.'
Yamihr used [Dark Magic: Shadow Step] to sneak on the front door without opening it to his room silently. His body blurred and turned as a shadow itself and merged with the shadow of the door while jumping to another shadow.
"I feel like… I have a future as an assassin."
When he successfully made it to his room, he hurriedly changed his clothes then went to the dining room.
Placing the piping hot food on the table, Martha notices Yamihr and greeted him with a smile.
"You're awake, your highness. Saa, the breakfast is ready so eat it while still hot!"
Leading him to a chair while smiling blissfully, Yamihr furrowed his brows and frowned.
"Martha, stop calling me that. I'm no longer royalty, you know?"
Yamihr voiced out his dissatisfaction as Martha worriedly locked her eyebrows.
"Was it because of what Melek said the other day? Damn that child! Please, your highness. Just ignore what he said before. I'll make sure to scold him later for influencing you in a wrong way!"
Martha firmly said while furiously clenching her hands as if ready to smack Melek's head.

"No, I just realized it myself. What Melek said is the truth. I was abandoned thus no longer a Royalty. What you are doing to me, isn't it hypocrisy?"
Martha's eyes shook in realization as her face turned pale. She hurriedly knelt on the ground and asked for forgiveness.
"Milord, please forgive this lowly servant. I didn't know that you were hurting by what I am doing. I didn't think of the consequences well enough before doing it. I only want for you, Milord, to live a happy life free from worry and worldly confusion."
Her eyes became red as tears poured on her face uncontrollably as she cried in grief. She hated herself for not thinking that it would instead hurt the prince.
Yamihr panicked when Martha suddenly knelt on the ground as he hurriedly helped her stand up.
"Awawawa~~ Stand up Martha! I don't blame you or anything alright!? I… I just want to feel that I am part of your family instead that of a master-servant relationship…You can just call me Yami or Yamhs!"
"However! Calling you like that is…"
Martha saw an innocent child yearning for acceptance and appreciation from his mom. She then thought back on those days when she took him out of the castle and started taking care of him as if he is her own child.
Tears welled up on Martha's face as she looked straight at Yamihr. She silently looked at the features of Yamihr, thinking.
'Look how much he has grown. It felt like yesterday he was still a baby lying in my arms.'
Reaching out her hand as she caressed Yamihr's cheek. She then complied with his request.
"Al...right. However, I will call you Yamhs-sama instead. Is that fine?"
"Fine. Thank you… Mom!"

Humanity's End
Given a year to prepare by the mysterious ‘system’ for contact with the wider galaxy, humanity must work to ensure the Earth’s defense is ready to meet any challenge. Sadly, most of the world seems dedicated to tearing itself apart as the year-end deadline gets closer. The west is in barely contained Chaos, while the east descends into internal conflict and war. The Pillar Forts, one of the few successful projects of the United Nations headed by the United States, stand ready to defend humanity against any invasion that may come through the strange Connection Pillars that appeared on each continent. Massive steel and stone walls that surround the Connection Pillars. They are filled with deadly men and women trained in all manner of warfare, each trained in the newly acquired System with skills and magical abilities that they put to deadly purpose. Beside these brave warriors, tanks, helicopters, artillery and more stand ready to defend humanity at each of these powerful installations. But, can they overcome the disparity in levels and experience between themselves and the forces that threaten them and the rest of humanity? Main Characters Jessica Brown- A young African American girl. Her 18th birthday in Detroit was the same day the systems message appeared. She discovered she was Level 7, much higher than most of the rest of the world. Why she is blessed, or cursed, with the power she doesn’t know. But what she does know is that she rather likes the feeling that comes with manipulating magic. The week after her birthday, government workers started testing every person in the US in a massive census effort of skills and abilities. Jessica Brown found herself conscripted into the US Magical Corp, a new branch of the US Military, and shipped off to a Pillar Fort. Somewhere hot and muggy in her ancestors’ home of Africa. As she grows stronger, she finds she has some connection to the pillars. While everyone else sees beauty or danger when they look at the pillars, after connection is made all Jessica can see is a Tree. A tree the size of the entire universe. Isaka Smith - is a third generation American and farmer who just wants to be left alone. But she is dragged into the situation by events beyond her control. When people in her small town had to deal with rioters and looters after the system announcement, she rallied them to defend themselves, earning her a trait that the government found extraordinarily useful. After a visit to a local reservation, she finds herself conscripted to lead one of the many small support towns erected around the great pillar forts. Not near her old home, but in far-flung Africa. John McIntire, the “Fighting Bull” -The commander of the African Fort, but because of circumstances beyond his ability to contend with shortly after taking command after being re-activated from retirement, he finds communication with his chain of command increasingly difficult. The US government, hell, even the United Nations, seems to have fallen into complete and utter chaos. The African Union is embroiled in a bitter civil war just outside his door, and supposedly, most of the world governments are in similar situations. Meanwhile, John must do his best to be ready to facilitate diplomacy, or to match the hostile argument of whatever force might come through the pillar of light when the year timer finishes counting down. Can our heros defend Earth from outside threats, while it tares itself apart? Or will they need to rebuild from the ground up? DEDICATION: This story is dedicated to my father who passed away recently. Jim Holloway, you’ll be missed you old silverback gorilla. Love you dad. Always have, always will.

The Kings of Thendor - The Two Kings
To some, it would probably be obvious. To others – not so much. In the land of Thendor, where magic is mysterious, unmentioned, and sometimes even disbelieved; where kings, queens, and stewards rule, the ages-old kingdom of Alldel remains without its king. Heirs come and go and no one can explain why each one chooses to abdicate to the steward. And who are these heirs, anyway? Some say the line of kings is dead, while others whisper of magic. Some, though few they are, will tell you other kingdoms have interfered, keeping the line of kings from rising in the nation of Alldel. But why? Adric, son of Cassian, heir to the throne of Alldel has come of age and must answer the question, whether to assume the throne, or abdicate as his ancestors had done for centuries. Raised as a blacksmith by a family friend, Adric struggles with the decision to take up his place as King of Alldel, and to make matters worse, a neighboring kingdom has confirmed the rumors of the common folk. An impossibly old king with a centuries-old message arrives and changes Adric’s life in ways he could never have imagined. Adric must decide the future, and perhaps even the fate of the great kingdom of Alldel. Unprepared for this turn of events, he enlists the help of allied kingdoms and even the mystical nymphs of the Tulusbian forest. Some say his actions will start a war on the continent of Thendor. Ohers say he is resurrecting a long forgotten one from centuries ago. Abdicate, or become king? To some, it would probably be obvious. To others – not so much.

Neophyte: Common Route
A story about self-discovery, interpersonal relationships, magic and magical creatures-- and a silent war. Marsha is about seven years past adulthood and still feels like a scared child in her parents' home. This is exacerbated when she discovers her father has apparently keyed up his destructive, sadistic habits-- leading to a mad dash out of the house with precious cargo in tow and only one idea where to go. This begins her journey, leading to a discovery that will change her life forever. And she never wants to go back. (Warnings: Lots of descriptions of abusive, sadistic and otherwise traumatizing and triggering behavior that a parent perpetuated toward a child or multiple children. Descriptions of violence, a main character with emotional issues that will be dealt with, and a whole lot of the 'aftermath' of battles in a war. Even a few descriptions of some of those battles. Things of that nature. If you can't handle one of those, please do not read.) {I had this idea to write a 'common route' and then 'romance routes' like they do in otomes? Book 1 is the common route, and then at book 2, you choose your love interest. Each of which is encased in their own book.}
