《A Fool's Wish》Chapter 6 Page 4 - Bloodbath

Akilah emerged behind a hyperventilating Era. Era had ran to the other team screaming about the vicious attack that had just happened and how he bravely tried to fight them off but failed to do so. Akilah came right after to tell them that that wasn't the truth and that Era had in fact ran away and left his men behind. However before anything could come of the argument captain Navin interrupted and asked where the rest of the team was and Akilah led them to the other team.
The closer they got to the area the more the stench of blood fill the air, once they arrived at the scene it was a bloodbath. The lucky ones bodies were still intact but the rest had their body parts sprawled all over the area. It was a horrible sight indeed, at least for someone who had not witness anything of this sort before. Akilah had however during her work as a henchmen witnessed far more gruesome scenes. But that was not the image she was trying to portray she needed to play the part of a innocent young boy, and play the part she did. The rest of the soldiers actually felt the horror that Akilah was trying to portray. Therefore captain Navin order those who could stomach it to quickly search if there are any survivors left and the rest to leave the area as soon as possible.
Once they were back at the campsite captain Navin asked both of them to explain what they had witnessed. Akilah and Era told their clashing versions of what had happened. However, before they could further the argument captain Navin once again interrupted. He asked them if they possibly saw where the monsters went. On this part Akilah and Era replied they had no idea where the monsters were, and for the first time Akilah was telling the truth. Akilah had in fact no idea where the monsters had gone nor was she interested in it since she knew that they were no longer a threat. She just needed this whole thing to move along according to plan but captain Navin kept interrupting. Therefore she decided to go off script and use him as a way to further her plan.

Akilah got up from her sitting position and walked towards captain screaming at him “Why aren't you taking this more serious, he left them. HE LEFT HIS MEN BEHIND TO DIE!”
Captain Navin was about to places hand on her shoulder to calm her down, but she slapped it away and looked at him with tears welling up in her eyes “He-he left them…Their screams… they were begging for help and I-I couldn't…” She had even managed to add a quiver to her voice when she said that. She played out her part perfectly, she knew that this would get to him.
And she was right captain Navin was visibly touched by these words but before he could say anything Era interrupted and went on a tirade about how he had fought bravely until the end.
As much as Akilah hated his guts she was impressed by his extremely believable acting, he was doing everything as he was supposed to do. Of course that part was because of the spell she had placed on him but the acting that was all his own. She figured this is how he acted when he lied to the king about Adara, the same conviction behind his words, almost believable if you didn’t know how much of a coward and liar he was.
Just as Era was getting passionate about his speech captain Navin interrupted “This is no way to deal with this matter.”
“Well there you're wrong Navin” Era continued “I cannot let my good name be smeared by a scoundrel like him. I challenge you to a duel Akilah”
Captain Navin was taken back by his words “Sir don't you think that's a bit-“
But Era interrupted him again “He is slandering my good name. This is the only way to deal with it”

Captain Navin was just about to argue back but Akilah got ahead of him “I accept your challenge”
Captain Navin looked back at Akilah with a look of confusion “Why are you-”
“Captain I need to do this” She said while looking back at him.
The conversation went on for a little while longer with captain Navin trying to stop the duel, but when he realized there was nothing, he could do to stop it and he gave up. Captain Navin told everyone get try to get some sleep as they would journey back at the break of dawn tomorrow.
‘Finally’ Akilah thought to herself ‘The first part of my plan it's finally done’.
